SUMMER REGISTRATION BEGINS AT 12 PM, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2024.
This includes all youth summer programs with the exception of aquatic lessons. All of our programs require preparation to provide the best possible experience. Please help us by registering prior to program deadlines. Registration is specific to each program. Watch individual program information for registration dates.

REFUNDS

PICNIC SHELTER RESERVATIONS
Groups planning picnics can reserve Lions Park, Eagles Park, Jaycee Park, Turtle Park, Rocky Butte Park, Gress Softball Complex, or the old Archery Range by calling Dickinson Parks & Recreation at 456-2074. Shelter reservations may not be made more than 365 days in advance. A nonrefundable fee of $55.00 per shelter is required for all parks except Eagles Park and Lions Park, which requires a nonrefundable fee of $60.00 per shelter. Payment must be made at time of reservation. This may be done during regular office hours.

WEST RIVER COMMUNITY CENTER The West River Community Center (WRCC) is a 135,000 square foot multipurpose facility that includes gymnasiums, pools, fitness area, indoor playground, tennis courts, and golf simulator. Within the facility there are five basketball courts, five volleyball courts, three racquetball courts, two tennis courts, four pickleball courts, a 23-foot-high climbing wall, indoor playground, golf simulator and driving cage, two levels of cardio and strength fitness areas, drop-in childcare, indoor track, a tanning bed, indoor leisure pool with waterslides and lazy river and 25yard lap pool. The WRCC is home to many clubs and sports teams including Dolphins Swim Team, Dickinson Dream, Nodak Juniors Volleyball Club, and Dickinson Tennis Club. Other organizations such as Dickinson State University, Trinity Catholic Schools, Dickinson Public Schools, Dickinson Diamonds Girls Fastpitch Softball, Mustang

Baseball,Dickinson Soccer Club, and Special Olympics use the facility for a limited time. Area schools have come to use the pool, play in the gymnasiums, and use the rock wall. The West River Community Center also has three community rooms that are used for blood drives, meetings, family reunions, birthday parties, programs, and special events. There are different types of memberships to gain access to the facility. They include annual, one-month or threemonth membership options in several age categories. In addition, you may pay a daily/ drop-in fee to use the facility or purchase a 10-admission punch card. There are punch cards available for childcare and tanning users along with additional monthly memberships for tanning. An optional add-on service would be an annual towel membership.

GROUP FITNESS The West River Community Center offers a wide variety of land and water group fitness classes featuring many popular formats of classes for all fitness levels. Group fitness classes are included in a WRCC membership (unless specified). All instructors are certified and classes may be modified based on individual fitness levels.

GROUP FITNESS EVENTS 1 MARCH FITNESS MADNESS | Mar 4-Apr 6 2-person teams will compete by tracking exercise minutes! Teams with the most minutes logged from workouts and classes, win the round and move on. Losers have the chance to play one more week for a consolation prize. 3 WALKING BINGO CHALLENGE | JUNE 1 - 30 Participants must mark squares, aiming for a fully blacked-out board by July for a chance at the Grand Prize drawing. Each walk allows one square to be marked, encouraging participants to take a different walk each day. Submit completed Bingo boards to the front desk to enter the drawing. 4 FITNESS ON THE FIELD | JUNE 7
TAEKWONDO: Adults and children ages 5-14 are welcome. Ages 5-14 must be with a participating adult. KIDS FIT: Kids ages 3-5 will spend time engaging in activities that will help them develop their gross motor skills, such as walking on a balance beam, jumping, and crawling. MOMMY & ME: This class is for moms, dads and caregivers to move their bodies and bond with their little ones, 6 weeks and up. Workouts are created to support postpartum healing. Baby wearing is allowed.

DICKINSON DIKE LOCATION: 2302 W Broadway DESCRIPTION Dickinson Dike is located next to Turtle Park and is 19 acres in size and approximately 20 feet deep at its deepest point. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, catfish, large mouth bass and small bluegill. Dickinson Dike is a great area for young anglers as well as being a nice site to launch your kayak.
DICKINSON DOG PARK LOCATION: 455 8th Ave SW DESCRIPTION Let your favorite furry pups roam around leash-free and get much needed interaction with other dogs! In addition to a large fenced-in play area for dogs 30+ lbs., there is a play area for small dogs, as well as water and sanitation stations. The dog park was created through a partnership with Oreo’s Animal Rescue.

MEMORIAL BANDSHELL LOCATION: 801 5th Ave W DESCRIPTION The Phil Patterson Memorial Bandshell is a large concave shell with special acoustic properties located in Memorial Park. MUSTANG COMPLEX LOCATION: 2004 Fairway St DESCRIPTION The Mustang Baseball Complex is home to the Mustang Baseball Club (ages 7-12). The complex features 3 fully lighted fields with natural grass infields, covered dugouts, concession building with restrooms, picnic shelter, playground, 2 batting cages, as well as Field of Swings, 4 station batting cages with pitching machines. The complex is surrounded by the Leisure Park trail, West River Community Center and West River Ice Center.

SANFORD SPORTS COMPLEX DESCRIPTION The Sanford Sports Complex became a reality in 2023 and is an all-weather soccer and softball facility, providing a community space for youth, high school, and collegiate sports teams to practice and compete in Dickinson. WEST RIVER SKATE PARK LOCATION: 2015 Empire Road DESCRIPTION The skate park is located in Leisure Park and easily accessible to the restrooms and vending machines at the West River Community Center. The wide variety of skate features are constructed of concrete and accommodate skaters of all skill levels.
WEST RIVER SOCCER COMPLEX LOCATION: 2015 Empire Road DESCRIPTION This complex features six youth soccer fields for a combined acreage of six acres. The fields are located behind the West River Community Center and across from the West River Ice Center. It is situated within Heroes Park which contains a two story playground, toddler playground and 1.1 mile trail.

701.456.2074 1865 Empire Road West River Ice Center (WRIC) consists of two arenas and a large community room available for rentals year-round. WRIC is also home to the Dickinson Hockey Club. During the ice season, the facility is used primarily for the Dickinson Hockey Club along with Dickinson Parks & Recreation’s public skate season. During the off-ice season, this is a great facility to host educational seminars, conventions, trade shows, special events, and more.

Top three in each division will receive awards. Members of DSU, DHS & THS football teams volunteer their time to help in the running of this event.

DATE: August 20 TIME: 11:00 am-1:00 pm & 5:30 -7:30 pm LOCATION: WRCC Outdoor Pool AGE: All Ages ADMISSION: Free It’s a party for the pooches! All pool chemicals will have been turned off for 24 hours, so it’s safe for the furry ones. No swimming allowed for humans. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds will go towards the Dickinson Dog Park. Local businesses will be set-up at the event for information related to dogs. If you are interested in having a booth please contact our office at 701-456-2074. SCHEDULE: 11:00 am-12:00 pm | Small dogs less than 30 lbs. 12:00-1:00 pm | Big dogs more than 30 lbs. 5:30-6:30 pm | Small dogs less than 30 lbs. 6:30-7:30 pm | Big dogs more than 30 lbs.
