The NEW Fall/Winter Activity Guide is here! Our parks and recreation system is essential to the quality of life for our residents, and we take great pride in the amenities available to our community. I want to express my sincere appreciation to all the Park District staff whose dedication and hard work make these facilities and programs possible. I also want to thank our wonderful citizens who take ownership of our community spaces by picking up trash, cleaning graffiti, and pulling weeds. It truly takes a community effort to keep our facilities in excellent condition.
As we transition from a busy summer season, we are excited to present a variety of programs and events for the fall and winter. Despite the changing seasons, there is still plenty of warm weather to enjoy at any of our 28 parks, including the newly opened Heroes Park. This fall, we look forward to the replacement of the playground at Pleasant Valley Park and the much-needed renovation of the Dickinson State University tennis courts. Additionally, this winter will see the introduction of new fitness equipment at the West River Community Center and new golf carts at the Heart River Golf Course in time for the 2025 season.
In May, we celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the West River Community Center. We are incredibly grateful for your support over the years, and we look forward to creating many more memories together... we’re just getting started!
Thank you for being a part of our parks and recreation family. Let’s make this fall and winter season unforgettable.

If your organization is looking for a way to get involved in the community, the Dickinson Parks & Recreation Adopt-A-park program would be a great fit.
In this partnership, with the help of volunteers from your organization, we can provide general maintenance and upkeep of parks and facilities within Dickinson. The idea is for residents to take ownership of their local park and improve the overall quality of the area. Participating groups help DPR keep an eye out for potential hazards, vandalism, cleanliness, and general park mistreatment.
Please contact dprd@dickinsonparks.org if your organization would like to get involved with our Adopt-A-Park program.
