It’s Oyster Roast time! Whether you are an old salt to the local area or a newbee, there’s a Lowcountry tradition that brings a smile to every face - the oyster roast. This is an event that brings a gathering of friends, food and steaming pots of oysters together for usually no special occasion except to slurp these tasty bivalve mollusks, mingle with old buddies, make new ones, talk trash about someone else’s football team and have some fun. On Friday, Jan. 22 the Redbank Club will host a roast from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $20 in-advance for this all-you-care-to-eat affair. The price goes up $5 the day of the event. Not into oysters? We will also have chili, hot dogs, and chips and dip. Price includes coffee and hot chocolate. We will also have several “adult beverage” specials for purchase. Be sure to bring your gloves and shuckers. Tickets are on sale now at the Redbank Club office.

You’re invited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Key West March 16-21, 2016 Still a U.S. territory, but closer to Cuba than Miami, Key West, Florida is a dynamic collage of culture, food, nature and people. Without a doubt, one of the most “laid back” cities on the planet, Key West is known for its easy-going lifestyle, great weather and nearly 24/7 party atmosphere. Travel with us in March to experience four days and five nights of this quirky, unique and sometime eccentric piece of real estate. The $450 per person cost based on double occupancy covers transportation, five nights lodging and some meals. This is a super St. Patrick’s Day party destination. Space is limited and advanced reservations are required because this trip always fills up fast.

We have a huge selection of checkout equipment, gear

Curious about camping or boating, but don’t want to shell out the initial expense just to find out it’s not for you? We have campers, tents, outdoor cooking gear and sleeping bags ready for checkout. Our boats include jon boats, bass boats and skiffs, all on trailers, along with kayaks and canoes. You can check them out for a day, weekend or by the week. Usage fees are very competitive and reasonable. Other recreation gear on hand includes bikes, open flatbed and enclosed hauling trailers, large “towable” grills, picnic and party canopies and ice chests. For a complete list, go to www.JBCharleston.com and use the pull-down tab under “Recreation” to select the “Air Base.”
