You woke up late, skipped breakfast and got to work too late to get a decent cup of coffee. Don’t freak out, the Charleston Club serves breakfast from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. weekdays. We have pancakes, breakfast burritos, French toast sticks and a lot more. Feb. 3 & 17 These one-hour orientation classes are required in order to checkout motordriven ORC boats. Advance class registration required. Cost is $5. Before attending class, boater must take a free on-line boater safety course at www.boatus.org and pass with a minimum score of 80%. Call the ORC after testing to schedule an orientation class.
Heading for the casino
March 23-25 You’re invited to join us as we travel north to Cherokee, N.C., and spend two exciting nights at Harrah’s Casino. February Liberty & Single Airman Initiative Programs Super Bowl Party - Feb. 1. Free. Outside the Bowman Center on “the SPINE.” An abundance of viewing screens and a catered buffet. Party starts at 5 p.m. Marksmanship Qualifications - Feb. 7. Includes transportation, instruction, weapons and safety gear rental, ammunition, practice rounds and qualification rounds. $200. Leaves the WS Uniform Shop/ITT office at 7:30 a.m., and returns at approximately 6:30 p.m. Swim with the manatees - Feb. 7-8. Escape to the crystal-clear warm springs of Crystal River, Fla., to swim with these gentle giant river creatures. $75. Price includes transportation, boat ride, snorkel gear, lodging and breakfast, and admission to Homosassa Wildlife Park. Trips leaves the AB Outdoor Recreation Center at 5 a.m. Saturday and returns around 11 p.m. Sunday. Dorm Life Cooking Class - Feb. 10. AB Airman Center, Dorm 466. 5 p.m. Free. This is our famous “Holiday Edition!” We will learn amazingly healthy and delicious recipes and top it all off with a holiday “graduation” dinner. All ingredients and instruction included. Improv Comedy Dinner - Feb. 11. Improv Comedy and a classic jazzy dinner at the Charleston Club with chilled shrimp, prime rib and cheese cake. $30. This is a dinner for singles, but couples are welcome. Sign-up at the AB Outdoor Recreation Center or the WS Bowman Center. The programs runs 5-9 p.m. Stingrays Hockey - Feb. 13. Wanna go? Well, get out and support Charleston’s three-time East Coast Hockey champions at the North Charleston Coliseum. Fan bus leaves the WS bowman Center at 5:45 p.m., and pulls back in around 9:30 p.m. All food, beverages and hockey paraphernalia at your expense. Tandem skydiving - Feb. 14. Soar like an eagle through the Lowcountry skyline. Leaves the WS Bowman Center at 8 a.m., and returns at approximately 5 p.m. $80. Covers transportation, ground school and tandem dive. Learn to paint like Picasso - Feb. 15. Mt. Pleasant. No experience necessary! We will show you exactly what you need to do to create a usable masterpiece. This is crafting for the non-crafty. After class, we’ll head over to Sullivan’s Island to eat . $15. Price includes transportation, all supplies and instruction. Dinner is at each artist’s expense. Trip departs the AB Outdoor Recreation Center and the WS Bowman Center at 2 p.m., and return at approximately 8 p.m. Biking to Brews - Feb. 19. We’ll explore the old Navy Shipyards by bike then pedal over to the Coast Brewery. After coasting through a pint and a tour of the brewery, we will drive you over to EVO Pizzeria for an warding-winning pizza pie. $10. Bike rental included in the price, but the food is not. Trip leaves the AB Outdoor Recreation Center at 5 p.m. and return at approximately 10 p.m. USA Gymnastics - Feb. 20. Private session for E1-E6. The $12 cost includes transportation, 90-minute gym fee, basic gymnastics and Parkour instruction. All levels of experience welcome. Trip departs from the WS Bowman Center at 7 p.m., and returns at approximately 10 p.m. Overnight Ski Trip - Feb. 21-22. Sugar Mountain Resort, N.C. Come rip up some of the best ski trails in the southeast. Skiers and snowboards welcome. $100. Cost does not include lunch and “road food.” Trip departs from the AB Outdoor Recreation Center and WS Bowman Center at 9 a.m., and returns around 9 p.m. the following day. Climbing, gaming and pizza - Feb. 24. Airmen’s Center, Bldg. 466, on the Air Base. Free. Climb on the wall and compete for prizes. Eat free pizza and play in a Mario Kart 8 Tournament. Win prizes and glory! 4:30-6:30 p.m. Day Ski Trip - Feb. 28. Cataloochee Ski Resort, N.C. Feed your need for downhill speed on this outrageous day trip. $50. Price includes skis or snowboard, boots, lift ticket and transportation aboard an amazingly comfortable charter bus equipped with WiFi, DVD players and a ton of other fancy stuff. Trip departs the Outdoor Adventure Center next to the NEX Military Clothing Sales store at (yawn...) 6 a.m., and will return around 11 p.m. All food at each participant’s expense. Please wear appropriate cold weather/ski clothing.

The youth center's Boys & Girls Club of America Keystone Club Program offers youth ages 13-18 the opportunity to develop character and leadership skills. Tour the USC campus in Columbia
Feb. 24, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Air Base Youth Programs will visit the main campus of the University of South Carolina in Columbia during February. This trip is for teens ages 14-18 and the cost is $15 per student. Transportation is provided in the cost, but teens will need to bring money for snacks and lunch. Space is limited. Please note that this is a scheduled local school day, so students will miss a day of classes. Registration deadline is Feb. 13. Call for more details.

Spring break is right around the corner with most local schools not holding classes March 30 to April 3. Registration for spring break camp at the Air Base and Weapons Station runs March 2-27.
