Common Keto Diet Mistakes

Common Keto Diet Mistakes Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox, Gwyneth Paltrow, Arjun Kapoor, and Huma Qureshi claim to owe their bodies to this diet, i.e the ketogenic diet. Commonly known as keto diet, it is a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet- the three keys to achieving nutritional ketosis. It is believed that if you manage to reach - what is known as - nutritional ketosis, fat burns quickly and is used as fuel instead of glucose, which is considered the conventional fuel for one’s body.

The focus of the diet is to completely cut out carbohydrates. Your nutrient intake should be something around 70% fat, 25% protein, and 5% carbohydrate. Therefore, it is a drastic change that you must commit to – if you want to try out the keto diet, that is.

But before you embark on that path, you want to make sure that you have the right advice. Please don’t make these common keto diet mistakes: 1. Not all fats are made equal. There are good fats and bad fats. Examples of fats you should absolutely avoid are vegetables and seed oils. Most of the time, these are processed and going to cause you a lot more health problems like increased risk of heart disease, increased risk of cancer, and a spike in your LDL cholesterol levels. Good fats can be found in avocados, eggs, nuts, chia seeds, Greek yoghurt, blueberries, tofu, olives, and fresh cream. 2. Not all meals are what they promise to be. Proper meal planning is crucial for you, especially if you’re planning to go the keto way. The ones that don’t meal plan end up falling way short of their daily macros or end up slipping and eating stuff that knocks them out of ketosis because they’re hungry. Be smarter and stay a step ahead.

3. Don’t underestimate the power of good sleep. Not respecting your sleep cycle is a mortal sin! Adequate sleep helps our bodies with muscle reparation, memory consolidation, and rejuvenation. When you don’t get enough sleep, your hormones are thrown off whack. Therefore, you find yourself craving sugary, fried treats. So, if you want to stick to keto diet, then you’re going to have to try and get enough sleep. 4. Hydration, hydration, hydration! The simple fact of the matter is that your body can’t do what it’s supposed to do without water. Switching to a keto lifestyle usually means drinking more water than your used to so this can be a huge adjustment for some people. If you’ve never been a huge fan of water, this is the time to start. Carry a water bottle along everywhere you go and keep sipping on it every few minutes. You can also add a squeeze of lime or slices of cucumber. 5. Comparison is for fools. You cannot compare an apple with an orange. Similarly, no 2 bodies are built the same. Even if you and your best friend are on identical diets, your bodies are genetically programmed to behave differently to diet, exercise, lifestyle, and stress. So, don’t be quick to get disheartened by the weight loss others may be experiencing. Your journey is unique. Let it play out and don’t lose hope!
