UPLOADING A VIDEO

1. In order to upload to Youtube, you must have a gmail account. Either sign up (and check your emails to verify your account) or log in and then head to www.youtube.com

2. You will see an Upload button in the top right-hand corner next to your account icon. 3. To Upload, click on the button – you can then select the file for your vlog. You can choose whether you’d like the video to be private (only you can view), unlisted (only those with the link can view) or public (anyone can view).

4. Add a title, description, key words and a thumbnail. You can either select one that Youtube provides or upload another image. A thumbnail is what users see before they click on a video elsewhere on Youtube or the internet.

5. If you own all your footage and use copyright-free music, your video can be monetised. Ads will be placed on your video and you can earn money each time someone clicks them.

To turn on monetisation, click your profile icon in the top-right hand corner, select Creator Studio -> Channel -> Status and Features and click ‘Enable’ to the right of ‘Monetisation’, and follow the instructions.

EDITING CHANNEL DESIGN

On your channel, you can edit your profile image, add a header and a description. This lets people know a bit more about who you are and is more likely to encourage them to subscribe.

The ‘Subscribe’ button is on the right-hand side underneath your cover image. A subscriber is viewer or fan of your content that is interested in watching your videos. They will see your content when they are on their homepage and receive notifications when you upload. You channel will automatically display your Uploads, Created Playlists and Liked Videos. • Playlists can be used to sort your uploads into categories, or for other users’ videos that you enjoy. • Liked videos are videos that you have clicked the thumbs-up button on while watching.
