MORSE MUSEUM Returning Rites of Spring at the Morse

s part of Spring at the Morse, The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art’s celebration of the season, admission to the museum’s galleries and exhibitions is free during the entire weekend — Friday, March 18, Saturday, March 19, and Sunday, March 20 — of the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. During the rest of its eight-week spring program, from March 25 through April 29, the Morse will present live music from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Finally, as is tradition, the Morse will offer free admission on Easter weekend, April 15 through April 17, with live music set for Good Friday. Now on view, The Stebbins Collection: A Gift for the Morse Museum, encompasses 70 paintings, works on paper and sculpture by 53 artists in three museum galleries. The Morse is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by American artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933). These works include the chapel interior that Tiffany designed for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, as well as surviving art and architectural elements from Laurelton Hall, his grand Long Island estate. The museum is located at 445 North Park Avenue. Through April, hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Tuesdays through Thursdays and on Saturdays); 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Fridays); and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Sundays). Regular admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $1 for students, and free for children younger than age 12. Admission is free from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays from November through April. For those who would like to visit the museum virtually, the Morse offers many opportunities, including online activities, videos and an audio tour. Programs for families — designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and their parents or guardians, but fun and free for everyone — may be found on the museum’s “Create and Explore” web page, morsemuseum.org/create-explore.
