IN MEMORIAM ROBERT (MONTE) LIVERMORE JR.
CHINA BEFORE COMMUNISM
Monte Livermore loved the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and was an enthusiastic festival ambassador. He joined the board in 2009 and served as co-president, along with Amy Thrasher, in 2018. Monte had a passion for helping the Patrons Program grow, was the liaison with the Winter Park Rotary Club for the Beer Garden and represented the festival on the Winter Park Arts and Culture Alliance committee. A horticulturist, Monty enhanced festival events with colorful flowers and seasonal plants. And when the events were over, board members delighted in taking them home to plant in their gardens. No doubt some of those plants are still growing and blooming as a reminder of the kind spirit and loving nature that was at the heart of Monte’s personality.
EL AINE “L ANIE” EDMUNDS SHOWER Lanie Shower started her career as a flight attendant with National Airlines and Pan American Airlines. She later became a Realtor and worked at Ann Cross and later Fannie Hillman + Associates, where she was a top producer. Her warm, welcoming personality was a perfect fit for the community volunteer work that she loved. Besides being a member of the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival board in the early ’80s, she was involved with the Loch Haven Art Center, Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens and the Junior League of Greater Orlando. On the festival board, Lanie worked with artist applications and notifications as well as on the headquarters and merchandise committees. She was tireless, making sure that trays of notification letters made it to the post office on time even when she was nine months pregnant. She served as vice president of the festival in 1984.

RICHARD NORMAN AWSUMB JR. Richard Awsumb was a member of the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival board twice. He first joined in 1998 and worked on many committees until 2006, when he became a Sustainer. In 2016, he rejoined. Richard, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, was a talented architect who used his professional skills to help the festival develop the intricate park maps that showed the festival’s footprint as well as where artists’ booth spaces were located. Most recently, he helped with the layout and logistics of the Schools Exhibit. But mostly, Richard loved the artists, enjoyed their creativity and was dedicated to making our festival a success for them.
