Creative Expression
Over twelve months a group of photographers attended a series of sessions where they were invited to explore their view, understanding and expression of creativity in their photographic art.Whilst many see creative photography as only applying to composite images the group members were asked to remove any such boundaries and allow their feelings and thoughts free exploration of the creative landscape.
Much of creativity can be associated with feeling and emotion as well as the visual. It can be sensory, provoke reactions, evoke mood change and be intoxicating. The group were encouraged to open their minds and express their thoughts through the capture of light on the camera sensor then process and develop their images to allow the viewer to share the emotional experience.
A number of exercises were set such as Sound, Freedom and Aspire to work with as creative subjects. Each group also worked on collections or sets of images:photographs on a theme or with a connection such as Scape and Motion.
Throughout the year many found freedom within their work and broke away from their ‘go to’ photography, some finding their individual style. It became as much a technical exercise as a mind exercise where some discovered the importance of post-production in polishing the final image.
The images in this book were all captured in camera during the year.I hope you enjoy them.
