Передмова У посібнику містяться завдання для семестрового оцінювання з англійської мови для учнів 4-го класу, матеріал для семестрового оцінювання підібрано згідно з чинною навчальною програмою з англійської мови для 212 класів. Завдання для семестрового оцінювання відповідають віковим інтересам учнів 4-го класу та дають учителю змогу перевірити рівень досягнень учнів з мовних та мовленнєвих компетенцій (аудіювання, говоріння, читання, письма), здобутих учнями в процесі навчання. Для перевірки кожної з мовленнєвих компетенцій дано декілька різних завдань, з урахуванням тем, які вивчаються протягом семестру. Тексти для аудіювання доступні за змістом та мовним складом, короткі за тривалістю звучання, монотематичні. Для перевірки навичок читання запропоновані нескладні цікаві, автентичні тексти, що співвідносяться з особистісною, суспільною, освітньою сферами спілкування. Завдання після текстів для читання та аудіювання дають вчителю змогу перевірити розуміння прослуханого або прочитаного тексту, вміння знаходити відповідну інформацію, вирішувати поставлене завдання. Завдання для контролю говоріння та письма передбачають перевірити вміння учнів запитати інформацію, описати, розповісти, запросити когось, написати листа тощо. Кількість завдань та час для їх виконання залежить від рівня підготовки учнів і встановлюється вчителем.

Helping Hands. “I’m glad it’s Saturday.” Dan says to Ann as he seats at the table. “I can fix and play with toy car, and then I can walk with Charlie.” “No, you can’t,” says Ann. “It’s your turn to do the washing-up and vacuum the floor. Mum doesn’t like when it is not clean in the house. She is very tired and we must help her.” “OK. A Bigger Hand Is Better. One day a woman went shopping in the market with her small son. Soon they came to a man who was selling cherries. The man liked the small boy and said, “Well, my little man, take a handful of cherries”. The boy went up to the basket of cherries. First, he wanted to take some berries from the basket and put his hand out of the pocket. Then he took it away. He didn’t take any cherries. “Don’t you like cherries?” the man asked. “Yes, I do”, said the boy. The Cat And The Mice A cat lives in a small house. In the kitchen of the cat’s house little mice live. The cat is very big and every day she eats one or two mice. But on her birthday the cat doesn’t eat mice. Every year all the mice in the house come to the cat’s birthday party. Of course, the cat is very glad to see the mice. They give her birthday presents: a cake, a bottle of milk and interesting toys. The toys are made of paper and cotton. The cat likes cakes and milk; she likes the toys, too. This year the mice come to the cat’s birthday party and say, “Here is a blue ribbon with a small bell for you”. The ribbon is very nice. The cat takes the ribbon, puts it on and says, “Thank you. Victor Stayed At Home My name is Victor. I’m a pupil, and I go to school every day. But last week I was ill and stayed at home. I was in bed all the time for five days, because my temperature was high. My mother was at home too. She is a housewife and doesn’t go to work but she works about the house. After breakfast she washed up and then cooked dinner for the family. After that she cleaned the flat: washed the floor, dusted the table, the chairs, the television, the cupboard and the shelves. In the afternoon she washed the clothes. I wanted to help my mother but I was ill. I listened to music and watched TV. My mother was tired, of course. I asked her: “Do you want to have a rest?” But my mother answered: “I have no time. I must iron your and father’s shirts and trousers”. She finished to iron at half past five in the afternoon and decided to have a rest. Mother switched off the television and we played an interesting game with her. I have a really nice Mummy! The Friends Of The Sun Every day the Sun shines in the sky. Every night the Moon shines in the sky. One day the Moon says to the Sun, “You are bright. You are brighter than I. But you are alone in the sky. I am not alone. There are many stars in the sky. They are my little friends. They twinkle and smile at me. They like me and I like them very much.” The bright Sun is very sad. He wants to have as many friends as the Moon. One day Spring sees that the Sun is sad. “Why are you sad?” asks Spring. “I am bright,” says the Sun, “but I am alone in the sky. The Moon has many friends.
