For those of you who don’t know my brand’s story… this is it: When I first started MOONEH in late 2013 I wanted to bring back good, healthy, preservative free food, made with organic produce following traditional methods, supporting local organic farmers and local producers. Because more and more of us were eating overly processed, preservative and chemical laden foods; and everyone was only choosing convenience. So many ailments and intolerances popping up, something had to be done. At least I believed so. If you are not familiar with my brand or not following since back then, you may not know that since 2008 I had been blogging, making videos on YouTube and shouting out on social media and the local radio channel “Dubai Eye” about the dangers of those food choices.. the importance of eating organic and following old school food preservation methods. while, I had shared tons of recipes and tutorials for cooking from scratch, information about sourcing, about the importance of ingredients and short distance sourcing, the importance of eating seasonal and the impact of new farming and consumption practices on our health and the environment. You can find it all on dimasharif.com and explore to learn more as it is all still applicable today and more important to know today than ever before. The end of that era was crowned with my gorgeous multi award winning book “PLATED HEIRLOOMS” which celebrates that lifestyle and those choices, teaching you how to make it all yourselves.
At that time, I was often told “no one had the time” “no one is interested in that type of food prep anymore” “what do you mean from scratch, without using readily available, time saving, processed ingredients?”… and so I started MOONEH. It was my way to make it available for you and everyone who does not have the time to make it themselves yet wanted good, honest, real food in their life and on their family tables. When I first started MOONEH it was small, and I only sold at markets during farmers market season. Slowly I grew the range to where eventually MOONEH LLC came to life. DS MOONEH Products were designed to cater for those who don’t have the time to prepare their own foods, and offered the ingredients for those who have the time and want to prepare their food. The ingredients first included raw materials, such as spices, specific sauces and grew to include pre-prepared ingredients that required lengthly prep such as the rolled vine leaves, Kubbeh…etc and that was the start of DS Frozen MOONEH. Since more and more people were realizing the importance of this food, this lifestyle and the importance of being mindful of what we eat and to make it all even more available, and readily accessible I created DS ONLINE STORE (www.moonehllc.com) for your convenience and started delivering too. Being a catering company that caters to events, I also wanted to offer families a convenient option where they could order a la carte organic family meals. And that was the birth of DS FAMILY MEALS. From there I was inspired to cater for individuals too and families that don’t necessarily want to all eat the same food and so… Finally, for those whose lifestyle spares them only the time to eat and don’t want to consume all the nasties on offer in the market that are slowly killing us, I launched AKLAT (www.aklatae.com). Aklat is MOONEH LLC’s home delivery service that offers you an a la carte menu available for you to order daily, a menu that caters to multiple cuisines, dietary needs as well as offers a diverse range of nutrients to cover your breakfasts, lunches and dinners. AKLAT also offers two daily dish options for you to choose from. This is a true story of a vision, a brand and the birth of a small business. All self-funded, without huge financial back up, and mostly reliant on passion, multi-tasking and over working (the life of all entrepreneurs). They are the fruit of good thought that covers real market needs, and the hard work and investment of individuals who believe so strongly in their concepts, so much so they are willing to put more effort, work folds more, risk everything and suffer more... and this is why they are worth saving, supporting and worth our choice.
At times of huge challenges we all become wiser, and our choices smarter.
