COMMUNITY NEWS
Police Panel
M
eetings will change to three panels per year rather than the present four. This is to maintain the effectiveness of concentrating on the priorities arising. Currently four panels per year gives rise to 12 priorities, (we are all very aware that there are continued financial savings pressures on our police force.) Therefore, 12 priorities are potentially too much for the current team, taking into account that three panels per year over two panels running simultaneously (Hampton ~ Fletton/Woodston and Stanground) will potentially give rise to six priorities, as well as the daily priorities the force has to handle, with the same officers. To best serve our communities the police need our continued support in maintaining their daily priorities and those which the panels raise. Join your local Neighbourhood Watch scheme, signup to eCops, be the eyes & ears of your area. It’s not being nosy as some would call it,
4
but more importantly it’s helping to protect our neighbourhoods. Messages can quickly & easily be sent out to NHW members when there is an issue. If there isn’t a scheme near you, consider starting one. Contact: admin@ peterboroughnhw.co.uk Alerts from eCops also inform of crime updates, frauds & how to reduce crime. It’s in all our best interests that we are proactive and responsible for our actions. Especially now that the nights are drawing in, criminals tend to use the cover of darkness for their activities, so be extra security minded and stay safe. Then, together we can maintain a community that is safe, neighbourly and a great place to live, without fear of crime. REMEMBER, YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU. Regards,
Carol Harrison Chair of Fletton, Woodston & Stanground Police Panel. Police Panel contact details: hcarol188@gmail.com
The next meeting will take place during November, in Woodston, however the date is still to be finalised.
APOLOGY The Gazette would like to apologise for an error in the previous issue Police Panel text, which should have stated: “This follows my Oncology interest from my nursing days & until I retired, helping to make individual patients chemotherapy in the PCH pharmacy manufacturing unit.”

ust a few days to go until our annual Community Festival in the grounds of St Michael’s church, Mace Road. See the advert (page 14) for more details. It is a fund-raiser, but much more than that. We hope you will come and spend time, meet friends and enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee with our compliments. St Michael’s church is now 45 years old and we are really excited to have just installed new audio visual equipment, making it a great place not just for services, but for welcoming the schools, training events and many other activities. We hope you will take the chance to pop in and see. This month it’s also time for Harvest Festivals. This year we are in
St Michael’s Church School, Cardea for harvest on Sunday 11 October with an informal, but still traditional, harvest celebration. Then at 6.30 on the same day you are invited to Songs of Praise for Harvest in St John’s with all your harvest favourites followed by a Bring and Share Harvest Supper. Please just come along and join in. During this Harvest season we recognise all we have been given, the amazing wealth and privilege we enjoy in England. For the past few weeks we have been contributing towards the refugee crisis, and on 11 October we will be supporting Peterborough Foodbank and also a development charity in Southern Africa. Grace and peace to you all, Anne

The Children’s Burns Trust The Children’s Burns Trust is dedicated to providing support for burned and scald-injured children and their families, for which there is little or no national funding. We have been working in the UK for over 14 years, making a positive difference.
O
ver 236 children a month require admission to an NHS Burns Service, following an injury with hot liquids. A burn injury is for life. The scars are physical as well as psychological and can present life-long challenges. It is our aim to make those challenges easier to bear and to help children and young people to grow up and lead as happy and healthy a life as possible.

Specialist paediatric burns items purchased by us for regional burns centres and services in the UK include surgical and anaesthetic equipment, physiotherapy and diversionary tools, wheelchairs and toys. We support Burns Clubs throughout the UK. Our annual Jamboree held in October is always a great success and very much appreciated by all, allowing the children to mix with others that have suffered the same traumas, without feeling isolated. Our work with hospitals, burn care professionals and educationalists has included production of dvd’s, leaflets and booklets. We continue to highlight the number of scalding incidents in the under 5s, and work closely with all agencies to reduce the alarming numbers. We enable Residential Weekends to be held each year, for families and survivors. This family programme allows them to discuss issues surrounding the child’s burn openly with people who understand the emotions that they are experiencing, as well as to learn coping techniques.

Cardea Update
by Kate Ferris, on behalf of Cardea Residents Association
Greetings from Cardea. I hope that everyone settled back into the routine of a new school year and all our young people are happy in their new classes and schools. I especially hope all the new starters have enjoyed their first few weeks of the big adventure that starting school is!
T
he residents association are very lucky that we have the support of our school – St Michael’s Church School providing us with a community room to use for meetings and other functions, and we work with the backing of Mrs Ashley, the head teacher, and Michael the caretaker, who help us plan and provide events for the community. One of these was a Play Day that we put on during the summer holidays. The dodgy, unpredictable weather didn’t stop almost 50 children having fun with crafts, games, face painting and an indoor bouncy castle. The feedback from this day was very positive and encouraging and I’d like to thank everyone who came along, especially the families from other parts of Peterborough, who hopefully went away and spread the word that Cardea is a friendly, happy place to
be, and I hope to see you all again next summer. While these type of functions are more suited to the younger children, a team have been working hard launching the Cardea Youth Club, with funding from the Big Lottery Funds for All, which is open for secondary school age young people. All are welcome to come along, even if you don’t live on Cardea but are from the surrounding areas. This is held on Friday evenings at St Michael’s School from 7-9pm, and we need more members in order to make the most of this great opportunity for the next generation to play a part in Cardea’s growth. Come and tell us what you would like from Your Youth Club! As always I appeal for more residents to join the CRA, even if it’s just to come along to one of our community meetings that are held
with the Neighbourhood Watch, the local police and local councillors, or via our Facebook group MyCardea. But, most importantly, people who can give up a bit of time now and then to help us plan and provide community events. The next one will be a visit from Santa, he can only come if he has a group of helpers and last year the children loved seeing Father Christmas waving to them as he was driven around the streets, with his helpers, giving out treats and checking out who was being good. I’m sure you’ll all agree this is a very worthwhile cause to help plan and be part of. Looking further ahead if Cardea is able to hold a summer fête in 2016 we need to begin planning asap. Again this can only happen with people power and so this is another appeal and another fun, rewarding reason to join us ... Hope you all have a happy and safe October.

FINANCIAL
MONEY MATTERS
by Pete Bird, Bird & Laws Certified Public Accountants
Do you have any tax or business questions, if so email Pete Bird of Bird & Laws info@birdandlaws.co.uk and if of general interest we will publish them here?
Question: I am a sole trader – can I claim annual investment allowance (AIA) on capital equipment purchased in the year I cease to trade? Answer: No. AIA cannot be claimed in a period of discontinuance, just as writing down allowance (WDA) cannot be claimed. If you cease you will only be able to claim a balancing allowance/charge. Sole traders or partnerships who incorporate (start trading as a limited company) are very often caught by this and the claim will be disallowed by HMRC. If advice is sought from your accountants before incorporation, it may be possible to make up two sets of accounts, the final accounting period ending just before incorporation and AIA will be allowed if expenditure is incurred in the penultimate period before incorporation. If you are therefore considering ceasing to trade or incorporate, I would advise that you speak to your accountant beforehand.
New dividend tax changes from 2016: In the July 2015 budget, the Chancellor set out plans for a new dividend allowance. From April 2016 the current dividend tax credit will be replaced by a new tax-free dividend allowance. The dividend allowance means that you won’t have to pay tax on the first £5,000 of your dividend income, no matter what non-dividend income you have. The allowance is available to anyone who has dividend income. Headline rates of dividend tax are also changing. You’ll pay tax on any dividends you receive over £5,000 at the following rates: l l l
7.5% on dividend income within the basic rate band 32.5% on dividend income within the higher rate band 38.1% on dividend income within the additional rate band
The Chancellor, whilst explaining that the measure would only affect those receiving more than £140,000 in dividend income, made it clear that this was a specific attack on tax motivated incorporation. It means that everyone who receives more than £5,000 in dividends will possibly pay more tax. Dividends received by pension funds that are currently exempt from tax and dividends received on shares held in an Individual Savings Account (ISA), will continue to be tax free.
October bulletin
CAMBRIDGESHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE Winter is coming, and after seeing a rise in chimney fires last year, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging residents to get their chimneys swept TOP TIPS TO ENJOY AN OPEN FIRE SAFELY: Sweep your chimney at least once a year and get brickwork inspected, especially the chimney breast and roof space. Do not bank fires too high or overload the grate, and remember to let them burn down well and check the hearth before going to bed. Use a fire or spark guard to prevent accidental fires. Do not place objects on or over the mantle-piece which may cause you to stand too close to the fire to reach or use them. Burn only suitable fuels and avoid burning resinous woods as soot builds up quickly. Above all, ensure you have a working smoke alarm fitted on each floor of your home. Find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, visit www.cambsfire.gov.uk or call 01480 444500.

Help save a life with the British Heart Foundation at Serpentine Green
QUIZ
L
ast year the British Heart Foundation raised over £130 million from voluntary income alone. In the same year £115.5 million was committed to funding new medical research. This enabled them to fund scientists at more than 40 different locations in the UK. This year they are hoping to raise even more with the help of Peterborough. The Bag It. Beat It. event will also help raise awareness of the devastating effects a sudden heart disease diagnosis can have on a family. Between Saturday 19 and Sunday 27 September, volunteers will be in Serpentine Green Shopping
Centre giving out stock donation bags and asking shoppers to fill a bag with unwanted clothes, shoes, books, handbags, DVDs, CDs, bric-a-brac and children’s toys. Then to take it to the drop point in the centre or the BHF shop. David Wait, centre manager at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, commented: “We are delighted to be hosting a Bag It. Beat It. event this year as it helps to raise lifesaving funds and vital awareness for a fantastic cause. Last year our generous shoppers donated a magnificent 390 bags, but this year we want to push for more.”
BHF Area Manager, Jacqui Whitehall, said: “We’re urging everyone in Peterborough to have a clear out this September and donate bags of their unwanted stuff to Bag it. Beat it. “People often don’t realise that the books, shoes or dress they donate to or buy from their local BHF shop actually raises vital funds and helps pay for life saving research. “Every week around 2,000 families lose a loved one to heart disease, but with continued support from local people, the BHF can fight even harder to reduce this figure.”

The Crown Lakes Walk
Stanground Lode Corridor
Crown Lakes Country Park
Cross the A15 and turn left to join the Green Wheel as it heads east away from the A15. The bridleway, which has recently been re-surfaced with brick-dust, takes you through dense woodland and then opens out to follow the Stanground Lode Corridor for 1.5km. Shortly you will cross over the Lode and you will be able to see the watercourse down to your left. Great Crested Newts are known to use this site as a corridor between other sites and it is an important bat foraging area. This stretch is also important for a range of birds and invertebrates and the verges contain wildflowers such as Bird’sfoot Trefoil, Rest-harrow and Wild Carrot.
After 1.5km the path turns sharply south and then east again and rises up over the East Coast Mainline. Stop on the bridge and take in the 360° view. Behind you is an area soon to be a mix of housing and open space and in front of you Crown Lakes Country Park, created in 1997 by landowners O&H Hampton from two disused flooded brick pits. Walk down the steps and follow the brick coloured path up the hill keeping the lake to your right. After 400m you will reach the second crossroads and here turn right and follow the path as it leads you along the upper boundary of the larger lake. Take a look over the lake and see if you can spot any of the many birds that the lake attracts, including Great Crested Grebe, Gadwall, Pochard and Tufted Duck.
Start/Finish Point: End of Eagle Way where it joins A15 London Road.
Follow the lakeside path as it heads down to the water’s edge and loop around the lake. This path joins onto the boardwalk as it weaves among the reeds and bulrushes. This relatively undisturbed marginal vegetation supports birds such as Reed bunting and Sedge Warbler as well as providing excellent conditions for dragonflies, damselflies and other invertebrates. The path now passes the beach and links back to the main brick path again. Go straight across at this point and follow the path past the informal games area and wildflower meadow. After 250m, take a rest on the bench overlooking the pond. Here the stream has been diverted to create a wetland habitat. Now follow the path round to your left and shortly you will find some steps leading you back up to the railway bridge. You can now follow the same return path alongside the Lode back to the A15.
Do you have a local walk you would like to tell readers about? Please email us on info@stangroundgazette.co.uk and tell us about it and, where possible, include some photos.

OCTOBER TOP 10 JOBS
Clear up fallen autumn leaves regularly
Cut back perennials that have died down
Divide herbaceous perennials and rhubarb crowns
Your October garden
Move tender plants, including aquatic ones, into the greenhouse
October is a beautiful month with the leaves on the trees changing to glorious colours and the cold frosts in the morning. But the garden never sleeps . . .
A
s long as your grass is growing you should keep it mowed and looking as neat as possible. And keep weeding. Eliminating those unwanted weeds in the autumn will help prevent them from sprouting in the spring. Rake up any unwanted leaves and debris and
put in the compost pile. Lift any remaining tender plants and bring them under cover to protect them for the frost. Tidy up your vegetable patch and remove all old and finished plants. This will help stop pests. Find the time to plant up your winter hanging baskets
and containers. Some of the plants you can use are myosotis, pansy, polyanthus, primrose, dwarf wallflowers. And you can plant your spring flowering bulbs. Autumn is also a good time for planting fruit bushes, fruit trees, asparagus and rhubarb crowns.

FINANCE
Maintenance on divorce – for children and spouses?
Separation or divorce is extremely stressful especially when considering ongoing financial arrangements. All financial aspects need to be considered including housing, pensions and income.
I
n some cases, in addition to child support payments, maintenance for a spouse is also appropriate. As a married couple, each party has an ongoing obligation to financially support the other, even after separation or upon divorce. Spousal maintenance is generally calculated on a ‘needs vs. affordability’ basis. If one spouse has an income which is much lower than their reasonable monthly outgoings they can be said to have a ‘need’ for additional financial support. Consideration then has to be given to whether or not the other party can reasonably ‘afford’ to pay spousal maintenance, sometimes in addition to child support. Many other factors also need to be considered such as which benefits or tax credits should be claimed now that each party is ‘single’ as opposed to being a ‘couple’. This is an extremely complex area but one that is essential to consider when ensuring that each party has financial security now and in the future. Abby Smith of Woolley & Co Solicitors always approaches such matters in a sensitive but proactive way in the hope of assisting couples to reach a swift, amicable, cost effective agreement which best meets their specific needs. PETS’ PATCH
Firework Advice for Pet Owners Fireworks commonly cause stress and worry to pets, as well as to owners trying to ensure the well being of them. So here’s our guide to help you and your furry friends prepare for the forthcoming firework festivities. Your pet is likely to feel safer if you’re around. So don’t leave them alone ● It’s important to keep pets inside once the fireworks start. So plan ahead and make sure any exercise and toileting is out of the way in good time ● Allow enough time for natural products, available from your vets, such as DAP sprays, diffusers and collars, or medicines, to take effect. (You may need to plan for this weeks in advance) ● Keep your garden gate and doors shut, and ●
make sure your pet is microchipped and wearing their collar and tag just in case they bolt in fear and escape ● Don’t over fuss, this may indicate to them that there is indeed something to be frightened of ● Some pets find the gentle pressure from specially designed products such as Thunder shirts, coats or jumpers has a calming effect ● Close the curtains and turn up the TV or radio nice and loud
Make sure there’s a cosy place where your pet can hide and feel secure. Often dogs will appreciate a den created under the kitchen table, a blanket on the floor behind the sofa or if they were crate trained, their crate ● Distract pets with their favourite game, toy or a treat just before and during fireworks ● It’s important not to punish any signs of stress or fear and remember to stay calm yourself ●
/stangroundgazette www.stangroundgazette.co.uk
Unfortunately firework parties are not confined to one evening and depending on your location it can be an ongoing problem at this time of year. If you would like any advice, then please ask a member of staff at your local vets who will be happy to offer further advice.

LOCAL BUSINESS FOCUS
What is a responsive website and why do you need one?
B
ack in the olden days – well before 2007 – web designers had a fairly straightforward job. Essentially we built a site for a client, tested that it worked fine on a PC and a Mac, made sure the customer was happy and went back to our first love of playing video games in dark bedrooms. And then, in 2007, Apple launched its iPhone, quickly followed in 2008 by HTC’s first Android device. And boy did they catch on! By 2011 there were 21.6 million smartphones in the UK and by the end of this year it is estimated that 37.8 million of us will be carrying one of these mini computers in our pockets and handbags. Oh, and did I mention tablets? eMarketer released figures in March that say 32.8 million Brits will be using a tablet at least once a month in 2015, over half of them being Apple iPads. In simple terms this means that around 60 per cent of all internet searching and viewing is happening on phones and tablets. And in case you hadn’t noticed, despite their ever expanding size, the screen on your zappy HTCSamAppleSony Z123Ultra is not quite the same size as the one on your office PC. Which is where responsive web design comes in. Essentially a responsive website is a site that alters its shape to fit whatever it is being viewed on. Whilst – and this is important –
28
retaining all its functionality. Do you remember in the distant past, well about three years ago, when you had the choice of viewing the ‘main’ site or the ‘mobile’ version? Well that was a dead end. Users going to the mobile site very quickly became bored with the reduced user experience and functionality that was the hallmark of a mobile site. A responsive site is a very different beast. It’s just one site that retains all its functionality and readability whether it’s been viewed on a huge TV or a 4” smartphone screen. The responsiveness is the site’s ability to reformat itself to whatever size and shape screen the users – your customers – are using. The various elements move and resize – like magic, but really it’s code – as the site flexes and changes to give the very best user experience.
a great advert for your company. They search for you on their phones, find your site and instantly it works: it’s readable, they find the product or service they want, they go home happy. And there’s more. And this is important too! Google, who let’s face it just about run the world these days, doesn’t like old unresponsive sites. Google’s search engine algorithms now take account of a site’s responsiveness (and other stuff like original content and social media and up-to-dateness). In non-techie talk, sites that are responsive will rate higher in searches than ones that are not. That simple. ‘But that’s just Google?’ you may say. Did you buy shares? Me neither. In April of this year Google accounted for over 88 per cent of UK internet searches. I’ll say it again: 88 per cent!
Does this matter?
Yes, of course you can. It’s actually really easy and any good web design company, ahem… like us at Dimension6000, can build you one. We design you a lovely fluid template that allows your site’s various elements to shift around dependent on how the user is viewing the site. We do it cost effectively. And no matter where and how your potential customer is viewing your site, it will work perfectly and seamlessly and be a real advert for your business, 24 hours a day. Oh, and Google will love it too. Did we mention that?
Well yes. Really it does! Remember over 60 per cent (and growing) of internet searches are now happening on phones and tablets. If your site isn’t responsive, i.e. it’s been designed for a lovely 21” desktop screen, then it is very likely difficult to read and frustrating to use on mobile devices. Which is where human nature comes in. If it’s hard work to navigate your site on their phones, then visitors are very likely to look elsewhere. And that can be lost business. Lots and lots of lost business. And there’s more. It’s also likely that customers will respond favourably to a good online user experience. It’s
Can I have one please?

HEALTH & BEAUTY
c i n i l C t o o F n o t l i t S Derek Vickers of Stilton Foot Clinic is preparing himself for patients wanting their feet to be in tip top condition after lots of usage in the summer months
B
efore you go out and buy those winter shoes and boots, consider giving your feet a treat so that they are ready for the Autumn/Winter hibernation. Callus (build up of hard skin) is one of the conditions that Derek treats frequently, hard skin can be troublesome, often leading to splints (or fissures) in the heel area and can be painful and lengthy to treat. Troublesome nails in younger patients are trauma or infection. In older patients problems occur in the fact that nails get harder and thicker which makes it more difficult to treat yourself.
Hard skin and callus is something you need to keep on top of, as are ugly discoloured thick toe nails. Discoloured, thick, cracked or crumbling nails could signal a nail fungus. Applying nail polish to an infected nail could make the problem worse, so get the condition treated. As people have worn sandals throughout the summer they can be more prone to cracked heels which need regular attention. Verrucas can also be troublesome. Verrucas are very common, spread in so many ways
and can also be painful. The good news is they are easy to treat once you get on top of them. Corns are also very common and can be inflamed due to the constant friction and pressure from footwear worn in the winter months. Tight fitting shoes or high heels can be contributory factors of corns that can rear their ugly heads. Whatever your foot problem contact Derek to arrange a visit to the clinic or arrange a home visit 01733 240609 or 242449. Derek Vickers Stilton Foot Clinic HPC Reg CH17980.

Cosmic Katie ‘s Stars October 2015
Libra September 24-October 23 By Katie Lancashire, Clairvoyant and Astrologer Something you have been striving for finally gets recognition and praise, get ready for ‘lift off!’. If a relationship or friendship has been hanging in the balance, it’s time you took the plunge and made a firm decision about which way you want it to go.
Scorpio October 24-November 22 Your contact list is second to none, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised with whom you can add to it this month, as Venus is now moving forward through your sign and will bring some unexpected and exciting people and events into your love life.
Sagittarius November 23-December 21 You are thriving in your work environment right now and your hard work and dedication is being recognised. Spend time with love ones and show them how much you care, just remember to be fully present, so put your phone/tablet down and strike up real conversation.
Capricorn December 22-January 20 You may think you’ve gotten away with a certain situation or decision you made, but think again, as someone has seen right through your recent behaviour and may take you to task on it. A relative will require your help, be adaptable to the circumstances. Aquarius January 21-February 19 If you made a decision to give something or someone more time, that time is up, and you may not even need to have a conversation about it. Action taken on the this month will free up your valuable time and bring fantastic new opportunities your way.
Pisces February 20-March 20 If you have successfully delegated responsibilities to the right people, you should be able to sit back and see them get on with vital tasks. Venus and Jupiter are gracing the relationship zone, somebody, somewhere loves you, expect fireworks on your love life around the 16th.
Aries March 21-April 20 Your work commitments will be high as you try juggling more than your fair share, the rewards will be worth it, so persevere. House move or alterations? Get multiple quotes before you commit.
Taurus April 21-May21 Romantic embers may be glowing less brightly than you’d ideally like, but the trends do suggest that things are set to improve, in the meantime work on your own personal development, and career aspirations. Engaging conversations will open your mind to new possibilities.
Gemini May 22-June 22 You could be looking at your four square walls and wishing they would expand, or at least fit your new circumstances, as you could be feeling smothered or overwhelmed with everything that is on your plate right now. Look further afield for answers and a winning solution. Cancer June 23-July 23

Financially the prospects are looking good, and and an opportunity to maximise on your earnings must be jumped at, don’t even hesitate. A heart to heart conversation with a loved one is paramount if you are to move forward harmoniously, be honest about your feelings and needs.
Leo July 24-August 23
Your self esteem and bank balance are well overdue for an uplift, so brace yourself because here it comes. Venus brings happiness and excitement into your love life on the 11th, perhaps you already know each other?
Virgo August 24-September 23 You can’t down tools yet, but knowing your hard work is reaping satisfying results, makes your efforts all the more worthwhile. A family member needs bringing into line, as their behaviour is not only irksome, it could also be underhand. Take action.
If it is your birthday this month . . .
There’s plenty of romance in the mix this month and someone you meet at a social event could become a serious interest, you’ll have plenty in common there’ll be no shortage of conversation. Set some boundaries with friends and family and make it clear your resources aren’t limitless.

CONSUMER ADVICE
Be aware of Council Tax Rebate Scams
by Eileen Le Voi
The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau intelligence team is warning people of a new approach being used by scammers to carry-out ‘vishing’ scams, through informing consumers of a pending Council Tax rebate.
S
o what is vishing? The principle behind is no different to phishing (internet fraud) – in which people try to fool you into disclosing your personal information, with the intention of identity theft or fraud. Where a criminal tries to illicit this over the phone, it is known as ‘vishing’ (telephone fraud). Fraudsters, purporting to be from a local council, have targeted both male and female victims aged
60 and over, phoning to say that they have been placed in the wrong council tax bracket for a number of years and that they are entitled to a rebate; they normally say that this rebate should be worth approximately £7,000. Once a victim is convinced that they are due a rebate for having been in the wrong tax bracket, the fraudster tells them that in order to receive the rebate, they will need to
pay an administration fee in advance; the payment they ask for varies between £60-£350. The victim provides the details and makes the payment, but then is no longer able to make contact with the person they spoke to on the phone. When they phone their council about the rebate, the council will confirm that they know nothing about it and that they have been contacted by fraudsters.
To report a fraud and receive a police crime reference number, call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or use their online fraud reporting tool at www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
Protect yourself from vishing: • • •
Your local council will never phone out-of-the-blue to discuss a council tax rebate – if you receive a call of this nature, put the phone down straight away. No legitimate organisation will ask you to pay an advanced fee in order receive owed money; so never give them your card details. If you think you have been a victim of fraud, hang up the phone and, prior to making another call to report it, wait five minutes to clear the line as fraudsters sometimes keep the line open. Then call your bank or card issuer to report the fraud. Where it is possible, use a different phone line to make the phone call.
