Thistle Drive community centre
The Thistle Drive community centre is fast approaching its first year and will celebrate this with a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on 27 July. This event is open to everyone and will give an insight into what the centre is about and a tour with centre manager Lindsay.
T
he centre provides Stanground with a community hub offering a range of activities from crafting to weaving, along with specialists coming into the centre to teach new skills and tricks to the community. The tea room is a lovely, bright and colourful space with a vintage feel and offers a relaxed environment to catch up with friends or join in with an activity. On Tuesday mornings the centre offers the Creation Station from 10 – 12 pm, where you can come and get creative and make as much mess as you like in the activity room, or outside if the weather is good. Alongside this in the tea room is a knitting and crochet group, bring down your
own materials but come and have a natter and a cuppa with others. The tea room then opens again from 6 – 8pm and on a Thursday evening too. Friday mornings from 10-12pm is a coffee morning open to everyone the chance to relax read a book and meet other local people. 2 - 5 August - Fairy workshop This is open to everyone. Come along and create magical fairy houses or decorations for your home. This is priced at £6 which covers the cost of materials. If you would like to do the 4 days, there is a discounted price of £40. The centre is run by volunteers run and is looking for more to help out in the tearoom.
Friday 1 July

Gates open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm. Tickets available from the Ferry Meadows Visitor Centre or online www.seetickets.com. Adults £14, students and children £10, families (2 adults and 2 children) £42
Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy. Let yourself be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests and meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players.
P
icnic with family and friends in the picturesque surroundings of some of the UK and Ireland’s most stunning open-air venues for the perfect evening of magical theatre in magical surroundings.
Magical theatre in magical surroundings Chapterhouse Theatre Company is now in its 17th year of touring open-air theatre at some of the most beautiful country houses, castles and heritage sites across the UK and Ireland. From a first year of performances at some 30 venues with Romeo and Juliet in 2000, the company has established itself as one of the most successful and critically acclaimed touring companies in the country. In 2016, Chapterhouse is performing in over 150 of the UK and Ireland’s most beautiful and idyllic garden settings. Over the years, the company has toured with a variety of shows including a range of
Shakespeare’s plays and extremely popular Jane Austen adaptations. 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death and in honour of this Chapterhouse will be touring with a special new spin on its popular production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Following their hugely successful visit in 2015, Chapterhouse are returning to Ferry Meadows Country Park, as they present their acclaimed production of a Midsummer Nights Dream against the back drop of the lakes and meadows of this 500 acre country park, just 3 miles from the centre of Peterborough. Open-air theatre lends itself perfectly to pre-show picnics, an opportunity for friends and family to sit back and enjoy each other’s company whilst indulging in a glass of chilled summer wine and watching a wonderfully traditional evening of entertainment.

No matter what time you can spare, any help is gratefully appreciated to keep the centre up and running. The centre is also looking for volunteers to help out in the garden area, the grass needs cutting on a regular basis but as the centre is very low on help and funds, this is a job that is being neglected. Alternatively, if anyone has an old lawnmower they would like to donate to the centre this would be gratefully received. Community room for hire The community room is available for hire for £13 per hour. It’s a great space for community groups, church groups, toddlers groups, birthday parties, tutors etc. Please get in touch to book; 07715 412084 or e-mail thistledrivecentre@gmail.com
Cardea update Kate Ferris (Cardea Residents’ Association) Here at Cardea, we’ve been busy planning the celebration for the opening of our new pavilion. The Youth Club will be holding a tombola stall and we are still looking for prizes, so if you have any items that you’d like to donate please let me know. Although we received funding to launch the Youth Club, it is now completely self-funding. We do not charge the youngsters an admission fee and all the leaders are volunteers. Hopefully, we can raise some funds to put on events, maybe even a trip for the kids so please help if you can. Also, we are always looking for people to come and demonstrate a skill or hobby, so if you have something that would be of interest to 11-16 year olds please get tin touch, maybe we could introduce the kids to a new hobby or sport? We are seeing our community continue to grow and as it changes around us, the challenges of living on a building site continue, with roads being closed as they are finally surfaced and some areas having double yellow lines installed. I urge everyone to be patient and tolerant whilst these works are going on. We have many issues around still not being adopted by the council and while we are in this situation it’s especially important that we all use common sense on the roads, try to keep speed down, especially on bends and areas where vehicles are parked on both sides of the road. We’ve had a few minor accidents and cats have been run over, along with many near misses, so please drive with caution, particularly near the school. Wishing you all a happy & healthy summer, Kate Ferris /MyCardeaUK E: Kawebb@live.co.uk

Gas masks
W
hen war was declared with Germany free gas masks were being issued across Great Britain to anyone who wanted one. Civilians were encouraged to carry their gas masks everywhere they went. As this was a necessary procedure, it meant that if German aircraft from the skies above started dropping poisonous gases we had to be aware of any eventuality which might occur. Although the wearing of the gas masks was never compulsory, people were being regularly advised of the need for a gas mask, as those without any form of protection whatsoever could suffer from a gas attack and the consequence could be fatal. It was at the infant school in Stanground with other children that I first learned about
the horrifying dangers of a gas attack which subsequently could have been dropped anywhere across Great Britian. All the children at school would be taught about the importance of wearing gas masks. Then one day a rather heavy looking vehicle parked outside the school and all the children put on their gas masks. The one I picked out was slightly uncomfortable to wear and I also remember that one or two of the children had difficulties breathing. Once the gas masks had been put on, we were all directed to the rear of the vehicle and led into a chamber of real gases. We were only inside this chamber for a matter of minutes and afterwards the children were all very excited about what had happened to them, but it was very

worthwhile to experience what might happen if any dangerous gases were released, at any time. Germany, however, never resorted to any gas attacks in the Second World War like they did in the First World War, much to the everlasting relief of British subjects.

Ladies needed for Stanground WI It’s not easy making friends when you’re the new girl in the playground ...
Walking for Health Stanground Walks We are now into the Summer weather, just passing a year since our first walk, and the group continues to grow. We have two walks; one on Tuesdays and the other on Fridays. We meet at the Sue Ryder Cafe in Whittlesey Road on Tuesday at 11am and on Friday at 10.30am. Please arrive a few minutes beforehand to complete documentation if you are a new walker. We have more qualified Walk Leaders and depending on numbers we split the group into two walks; one for fast walkers and one for the slower walkers. There are two walks that we complete; Tuesday is the River Walk and on Friday it is the Farcet walk. The Embankment walk was not popular so we cancelled that one.
The age range for the group is from 27 to 81 years old and includes mums walking with pushchairs. You are also able to bring your dogs on the walk, providing they are kept on a lead and do not impede others. So irrespective of age or fitness level, change your lifestyle and come and join us. You will feel better for improving your fitness, meeting new people and being out in the fresh air. There is always a coffee to be had in the Sue Ryder Cafe at the end of our walks and time to chat with other people and to get to know them. There is no need for you to be lonely. We look forward to meeting you.
For further information, please call 01733 340039 or 07905 568690. Marilyn and David walk most days in the Stanground area, wearing our Walking for Health, high visibility vests, so please stop us if you wish to ask us anything.
The Stanground area has grown hugely over the last 15 years. With the developments of Park Farm and Cardea, plus the further development of Yaxley, I am sure that there will be many women, regardless of age, young wives, single Mums, those in retirement or widowed, who might appreciate somewhere to go to find friendly, female company. The WI ladies have participated in so much and enjoyed so many, very funny nights out. But a WI is only as good as its members, with each and every WI being responsible for its own meetings, educational activities and speakers. The main criterion for a WI is that, as a group, you learn something at each meeting, regardless of what it is. The best bit is that it’s totally up to you what that is. You could be enjoying cocktail making nights, learning about Steampunk, trying calligraphy, having a go at belly dancing, learning how to make a Victoria sponge, hosting pudding nights and so much more ... and if you like a glass of wine, you can have that too! However, most importantly, you would be gaining a great group of friends. Huntingdon & Peterborough Federation of WIs would like to help the areas of Stanground, Park Farm and Cardea form their own WIs. So, if you like the idea of making friends, learning useful crafts, skills and gaining knowledge plus finding opportunities to help your community, this could be right up your street.

LOCAL WILDLIFE
C July is the perfect time to visit the Wildlife Trust’s beautiful Upwood Meadows
onsisting of three ancient meadows, the Wildlife Trust’s nature reserve at Upwood Meadows are awash with life. Designated a National Nature Reserve for its diversity of flowers, the greatest display is in Bentley meadow where medieval ridge-and-furrow and plentiful ant hills provide differing microhabitats for plants and invertebrates. The variety of plants including cowslip, green-winged orchid, saw-wort, dropwort, sulphur clover and Dyer's greenweed provide summer-long colour and nectar sources for bees and butterflies. Meanwhile the surrounding mature hedgerows and veteran trees provide nesting habitats for many birds including turtle dove, blackcap and whitethroat and
food for winter visitors such as fieldfare and redwing. Dew ponds dug in each field originally for watering livestock, are now breeding grounds for great crested newts, dragonflies and damselflies. Dyer’s greenweed is a low-lying member of the pea family - as its name suggests, this flower has been used to make yellow dye since ancient times and combined with woad produces a superb green hue. And the green winged orchid has a jester-like motley of green and purple flowers gives this orchid its scientific name: morio, meaning 'fool'. It can sometimes be confused with the early-purple orchid but does not have spots on its leaves – the orchids should still be visible June.
This very special place is also a designated Coronation Meadow – a scheme set up to mark the Queens’s 60th anniversary, one meadow chosen for each county in England.
Read more here http://bit.ly/UpwoodMeadowsSG The meadows are at Upwood village, near Ramsey. For further information visit http://bit.ly/UpwoodMeadowsSG2

Question I wish to purchase a new house as a main residence, but own other properties - will the new 3% property tax (SDLT) be applicable? Answer If you are replacing your previous main residence within three years then you will not be liable to the additional 3% stamp duty land tax (SDLT), even though you own other residential properties.
Pooled Company Cars A business may have a pooled vehicle that can be either a car or a van. If the conditions are satisfied then there will be no benefit in kind tax charge on any of the employees. A vehicle qualifies as a pooled car if all the following conditions are satisfied: a. It is available to, and actually used by more than one employee; b. It is made available, in the case of each of those employees, by reason of their employment; c. It is not ordinarily used by one of them to the exclusion of others; d. Any private use by an employee is merely incidental to their business use of it; and e. It is not normally kept overnight on or near the residence of any of the employees unless it is kept on premises occupied by the provider of the car. Employers need to be able to demonstrate that the conditions for the car or van to be a pool vehicle have been met. It is a good idea to keep mileage records to show when the vehicle was used and by whom and for what journeys.

Covering an array of artistic disciplines from painting portraits to capturing landscapes in pastels, the artists will be using the beautiful surroundings of Thorpe Hall and its landscaped gardens to inspire classes. Places are filling up quickly on the workshops, all held during the week of August 15-19. All money raised during the week will be donated to funding incredible care at Thorpe Hall Hospice. LEGAL ADVICE
Maintenance on divorce for children and spouses? Separation or divorce is extremely stressful especially when considering ongoing financial arrangements. All financial aspects need to be considered including housing, pensions and income.
I
n some cases, in addition to child support payments, maintenance for a spouse is also appropriate. As a married couple each party has an ongoing obligation to financially support the other, even after separation or upon divorce. Spousal maintenance is generally calculated on a “needs vs. affordability” basis. If one spouse has an income which is much lower than their reasonable monthly outgoings they can be said to have a “need” for additional financial support. Consideration then has to be given to whether or not the other party can reasonably “afford” to pay spousal maintenance, sometimes in addition to child support. Many other factors also need to be considered such as which benefits or tax credits should be claimed now that each party are “single” as opposed to being a “couple”. This is an extremely complex area but one that is essential to consider when ensuring that each party has financial security now and the future. Abby Smith of Woolley & Co Solicitors always approaches such matters in a sensitive but proactive way in the hope of assisting couples to reach a swift, amicable, cost effective agreement which best meets their specific needs.
For advice on divorce or any family law issue contact Abby Smith for a FREE initial telephone consultation. Call 01480 270499 or email abby.smith@family-lawfirm.co.uk

multi-period living history festival. As Peterborough’s most popular event it attracted over 34,000 people last year, and remains a ‘must-see’ for anyone in the region. Organised by Vivacity Peterborough Culture and Leisure, in association with Peterborough Cathedral and supported by Perkins Engines Company Limited, visitors can experience 3,500 years of history in the historic heart of the city and the stunning surroundings of the Cathedral precincts. The Heritage Festival also features a large programme of fringe events running from 25 June to 10 July, dates inclusive.
its kind, showing original newsreel footage from the 1940s. Come and do some speciality shopping. Our
period market is held in the precincts, including displays of historic crafts and trades where people can buy historically themed gifts. At the Food Fayre visitors can discover an exciting
taste of unusual produce, with food and drinks to sample or buy.
Boost for Peterborough Chief Executive of Vivacity, Kevin Tighe, says: “Once again, we’re staging one of the finest heritage festivals in the UK, right here in Peterborough city centre. This puts the city on the map and if you don’t already know about it, then you need to find out.” Vivacity has been fortunate to secure support from Perkins as part of a three-year partnership. Kevin added: “Thanks to support from Perkins Engines Company Limited, we are able to continue and further improve on the Heritage Festival experience. This is a truly exciting free programme of family-friendly events, attracting visitors from Peterborough, and further afield across the country.” The Heritage Festival provides a boost for Peterborough, city businesses and the local
community, bringing in over £300,000 to the local economy. The event costs £70,000 each year and this sum is met by generous support from local businesses such as Perkins and individual donations. David Nicoll, Perkins Marketing Director, says: “The Peterborough Heritage Festival is a key part of the city’s cultural calendar, and the addition of the Viking Invasion to this year’s programme will help to maintain its first class reputation. Perkins is very proud to be associated with the Heritage Festival, which has a huge amount to offer local residents, families and those travelling from further afield.” There will be more announcements over the coming months about the programme.
Schools day - Fri 1 July The Festival is also building on the success of last year’s popular schools day, providing an opportunity for local children to come and meet characters from different periods in Peterborough’s history, bringing the story of their city to life. School parties will spend a day ‘time travelling’ between different living history encampments, experiencing the sights, sounds and smells of the past.

Pumas finally get their hands on their trophies Our fabulous U13s have had a great season as reported here in the Stanground Gazette in recent months. Our U13 red won division 3 and our U13 Black side won division 4 and the Hereward cup this season. A fantastic return for these young lads who have been working extremely hard at their game for the last couple of seasons and now they have reaped the rewards – well done to all the Pumas u13 family, here’s to more success next season. On top of this great success, it has been a superb tournament season so far with our U10s making it to a semi-final and the final of the Alconbury tournament and our U11s making it to the final of the Wisbech
9v9 tournament, plus two semi-finals at Deeping & Alconbury. We are just a game or two away from that tournament win. Our non-competitive ages have been fantastic with U6s through to u9s having superb performances in every tournament, making new friends and getting used to playing the beautiful game. We all can’t wait until the new season starts again in September, but between now and then we have a lot of work to do. We are creating three new teams for next season and urgently require new or old players at U8 (school year 3 in September), U12 (school year 7 in September) and U14 (school year 9 in September) ASAP.
Please contact Chairman Ciaran McAuley for more information.
Would you jump into a river, lake or any other open waterway on a hot sunny day? Do you know what hazards lie beneath the water? Or how cold the water is? Your fire service is delivering water safety education to every school in Cambridgeshire as part of its #RememberRony, launched following the tragic death of a Cambridgeshire teenager. But there is only so much we can do and we’re calling on parents, carers and peers to talk each other about water safety. For the latest news, incidents and safety advice, or to contact us, log on to www.cambsfire.gov.uk, call 01480 444500. Find us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
Some things to remember: • You do not know what hazards lie beneath the surface of rivers, lakes, canals, etc. • Strong undercurrents can be tough to conquer, even if you know how to swim • Cambridgeshire’s waterways are cold – even on the hottest days of the year – and this has a dramatic effect on your body’s ability to swim and get yourself out of trouble, should you get stuck. • If someone is in trouble, call 999 immediately. Do not hesitate to call the emergency services and give clear details of your location.
Stanground Academy The Stanground Academy Warhammer Club (SAWC) competed in the schools league semi-final event held at Warhammer World, Nottingham on the 28 April 2016. Our team of year 7-10 students took on schools from across the country to secure a place at the national final in June. Throughout the day the students competed in three games each of Warhammer 40K - a tabletop strategy game from Games Workshop over 40 minute rounds. Each student competes using miniatures that they have collected, built and painted from Games Workshop. The SAWC team - Temajin Riddings, Logan O'Sullivan, Jack Williams and Nathan Easby were
all great ambassadors for both the Academy and the game, showing great sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the day, winning several plaudits from their opponents. Nathan was awarded with a certificate for his particularly noteworthy destruction of an imperial knight in round three using nothing but a mob of orcs. At the end of the day, after 12 battles fought - our four team members looked on awaiting the final results... From the 12 games, 11 had been won, 1 drawn and none lost. The outcome - not only did the team get through to the final in June but they will go there as Champions of their semi-final. Congratulations!
CCSA to open doors to the community
Think twice before jumping into water this summer
After 6 long years of design, build and general working closely together with Peterborough City Council, I can confirm that the handover of the new Cardea Community Sports Pavilion to the Cardea Community Sport Association will occur on or around the last week of June 2016. After being successful in the Asset Transfer process, the CCSA have worked tirelessly to ensure that the group is prepared to become the premier sports facilities provider in the greater Stanground area. To kick things off with a bang, the CCSA will be hosting a Grand Opening event on 16 and 17 July with special guest, Shailesh Vara MP, and to include football tournaments, cricket displays, car boot sale, display area, craft fair, community stalls, BBQ, beer tent and much more. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend and the CCSA would like to welcome everyone from Cardea, Park Farm & the wider Stanground community to come along. stanground gazette July 2016 www.stangroundgazette.co.uk 17

Vivacity announces FREE SWIMMING for all children under 5 in Peterborough Vivacity has announced the expansion of their free swimming initiative to include all children under 5 years old across all of its pools in the city.
B
y offering free swimming to youngsters, Vivacity hopes to foster water confidence and a love of swimming from an early age, not to mention encourage parents to swim more often. Jon Marsden, Director of Sport & Healthy Living at Vivacity commented: “We already offer free swimming outside of lessons to children enrolled in our Swim Academy but we are delighted to now widen this to all children under 5. According to the Amateur Swimming Association, 1 in 5 adults in the UK is unable to swim, and we are committed to supporting children learning to swim at an early age so that they can keep swimming into adult life. We want to encourage all children to be safe in-and-around the water and enjoy the many water based activities available. “As a charity, Vivacity is committed to ploughing every penny spent at its sporting facilities, libraries, museums, theatres or at Vivacity events back into the provision and improvement of Cultural and Leisure services. Our free swimming initiative is one such
improvement along with cultural offerings such as the Children’s Reading Development Programme which is set to reach 13,500 children this year.” Already taking advantage of this at the Regional Pool is Wendy Freeman from Yaxley whose son Dylan (3) swims once a week. Wendy was pleasantly surprised to find that her son could swim for free: “Free swimming for Dylan will definitely encourage me to bring him more often. It can get expensive to come regularly so it’s great to be able to save some money doing something that he loves.” To take the children swimming for free, the accompanying adult simply needs to show their Vivacity card at the pool reception desk. Vivacity cards are completely free, and can be obtained at any Vivacity location. They offer discounts on many Vivacity activities including admission to Longthorpe Tower and Flag Fen, as well as discounted rates for sports activities across Vivacity facilities. The free swimming offer is available at all of Vivacity’s pools.
For more information about free swimming for the under 5s or Vivacity’s wider services then please visit Vivacity-Peterborough.co.uk. Residents can also get advice on how to live healthier for longer at healthypeterborough.org.uk

Wok & Eat sounds like the name of a expensive takeaway – but it’s deliciously affordable.
Review
Gazette
Wok & Eat is located on Columbus Road in Hempsted, Peterborough and opened on 15 April this year. Unlike many Asian cuisine takeaways, Wok & Eat is also a café, with a sleek, modern design and an open kitchen so you can see your food being made. Pricewise, this restaurant is gentle on your bank account. I ordered chilli beef with rice which costs £5.49 with a drink included and the portions are massive, I couldn’t finish it. On top of this, the service is amazing. I’ve ordered both delivery and eat-in service. The eat-in services was no more than five minutes, tops! The takeaway service is even better; it took just 10 minutes for my order to be ready which is ridiculously quick in comparison to similar takeaways where I’ve waited over an hour. The food is fresh, something which shows in the taste. With dishes including duck, pork, chicken, beef, seafood and vegetarian there is something suitable for everyone’s taste. It’s amazing! If you’re a lover of Chinese food then head down to 3 Columbus Road, Hempsted, Peterborough PE7 0LD or call 01733 555541 to order or ask for more information!

Excel Auto Ltd
Based in Holme Road, Yaxley, Excel Auto Care is the brain child of owner Nick Heyes. Tired of poor service and less than welcoming independent garages and unwilling to pay main dealer prices; Excel Auto Care was opened to give main dealer service and quality, combined with competitive prices.
BUSINESS FOCUS
ands on Director, Nick says “Having tried many garages over the years, I became increasingly frustrated at having to pay high prices to get good customer service coupled with quality workmanship. I truly believe that run correctly, a local, independent garage is able to provide the same customer service experience and trusted, quality repairs as a main dealer, whilst keeping prices competitive. ” Excel Auto Care have already received excellent reviews on both Facebook and Yell, demonstrating that the local community have really supported the new business which is already building the reputation of honesty and fair prices that they are determined to achieve. Senior Technician, Steve Wilson who has many years’ experience in main dealer and independent garages, including 15 years as Workshop Controller and Master Technician at Toyota commented “Working as part of the Excel team is great and it’s lovely to speak with so many happy customers who have had bad experiences in the past and who are quite wary of garages, have their faith restored by Excel Auto Care.” Excel understand that the best way to gain work is through word of mouth and repeat custom, accomplished by being friendly, honest and trustworthy and of course having a vast knowledge of vehicle problems. If you are looking for a cheap mechanic locally, then please consider Excel Auto Care.

CONSUMER ADVICE by Eileen Le Voi
Stay safe this BBQ season A great excuse for a spot of alfresco dining with family and friends, the popular social gathering offers the chance for the fellas to show off their grill skills, the ladies to rustle up a tasty summer punch and the kids to have endless fun. If this sounds like your ideal BBQ (and what’s not to love?) then don’t allow anything to spoil it. The sad fact is that barbecues are involved in many hundreds of accidents that occur in the garden each year. Last time figures were collected through the Home and Leisure Accident Surveillance System (HASS/LASS) in 2002, an estimated 1,800 people visited A&E in the UK having had an accident involving a barbecue. The most common types of barbecue-related accidents as shown by the HASS/LASS figures were: • Burn/scald/other injury related to fire or flame - 800 • Cut/tear by sharp edges - 200. The vast majority of barbecue accidents (1,400) happened in a home setting. Some of the accidents lead to very serious burns, usually as a result of using an accelerant such as petrol to light the fuel.
Summer’s here – and whatever the weather, us Brits love our barbeques!
However, planning ahead and following some simple safety tips will ensure you BBQ is fun-filled and not a flaming failure. • Keep your barbecues away from flammable garden furniture such as wooden or plastic chairs. • Move your barbecue away from sheds, fences, overhanging branches and foliage and never light it in an enclosed space. • Never leave a barbecue unattended. • Never let children too close to the barbecue. • Use only recognised firelighters or starter fuels on charcoal barbecues. • If you’re a gas barbecue user, ensure the tap is off before changing the cylinder. • When choosing a barbeque, stability is essential - ensure the one you choose is strong and sturdy. • Check your barbecue is in good condition (particularly if you have not used it for some time) and look for loose or damaged parts that may need adjustment or repair. To protect you, family and your home, it is advisable to have working fire alarms in your property and to generally be fire-safety savvy. Safe Local Trades currently has an expert

Whittlesey Dental Care (previously known as Stephen Dodding Dental care) has been serving the local population for over three decades. The practice provides excellent dental care in a safe and friendly environment. Whittlesey Dental Care offers broad range of services including cosmetic dentistry, implants and teeth straightening.
Smile! You are in safe hands ... What are the options available? Missing teeth – Implants
Crooked teeth – Clear braces Gaps in teeth – Clear braces Discoloured teeth – Teeth whitening or veneers Ill-fitting dentures – Implant retained dentures Muscular or skin problems – Cosmetic procedures like Botox
Implants Smile with confidence
There are many reasons why a person is embarrassed with their smile. This can have a huge impact on self-esteem and confidence. Crooked teeth, missing teeth, gaps between teeth, discoloured teeth or ill-fitting dentures are some of the most common reasons for not having a good smile.
Whether you are missing a single tooth or multiple teeth or looking for a more secure alternative for your denture dental implants may be an excellent restorative option. A tooth consist of two parts, the part that is visible above the gum line called the crown and the part that anchors the tooth in the bone called root. Dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium to which a fabricated crown, bridge or denture is attached.
Perfect smile in just six months
Are you one of the millions of adults in need of adult braces who are unhappy, self-conscious or even embarrassed of your smile? Many adults spend their entire lives covering their mouths when they laugh, smile or talk. They feel stuck because they do not want to wear adult metal braces for years or they are concerned that other corrective teeth straightening procedures could be too invasive or too expensive. Now, there is an effective, safe and affordable cosmetic braces solution that fits your lifestyle. Whittlesey Dental Care is an approved provider of ‘SIX MONTHS SMILE’ procedure where clear braces are used to correct the smile within six months.
Teeth whitening
Teeth whitening involves bleaching your teeth to make them lighter. Teeth whitening can't make your teeth brilliant white, but it can lighten the existing colour by several shades. Teeth whitening is a form of dentistry and should only be performed by a dentist or another regulated dental professional, such as a dental hygienist or dental therapist, on the prescription of a dentist. Some beauty salons offer teeth whitening, but this is illegal if there's no dental professional present, and it may put your oral health at risk. You can also buy DIY home teeth whitening kits but these may also carry risks. Another solution for discoloured or stubborn stains on teeth is Veneers. Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy. Because they are very thin and are held in place by a special, strong adhesive, very little preparation of the tooth is needed. Some types of veneers don't need any preparation at all.
Dentures
Dentures are removable false teeth made of acrylic or metal. They are fitted over the gums to replace missing teeth and address problems caused by gaps. Missing teeth can cause problems with eating, speech and smile. If you have an ill-fitting denture, it can stabilize it by implantretained dentures.
Botox and dermal fillers
Botox (antiwrinkle treatment) is used to treat eye wrinkles, forehead lines and frownlines. Fillers are used to treat marionette lines, nasiolabialfolds and also for lip enhancement. Anti wrinkle and filler treatments have revolutionised the cosmetic industry due to their remarkable results combined with very few risks and no recovery time.

July 2016
Pisces February 20-March 20
This month sees you with some tough decisions to make and family members seem to play a key role in such affairs. You must realise that everyone will always have his or her own opinion, but it is your choice that really matters. Take charge and life and love will soon prove more than a little interesting.
Aries March 21-April 20 You may have to have to wait for a close ones approval before you can book something you have been dreaming about. Patience in this matter is sure to earn you many brownie points though Aries. Surprise visitors make this an alternative month where you finally piece together a puzzle from the past.
Taurus April 21-May21
A hobby you have, can be turned into a career if you play your cards right. There is a lot that lies ahead of you this month. If you can get through the coming weeks then you are sure to prove you are capable of achieving your true dreams.
Gemini May 22-June 22 Finances should be more liquid than usual and you may be tempted to splash out to impress the new faces that are coming into your life or just to blow off some steam. Watch out for someone trying to dirty your reputation with gossip about your personal life. Cancer June 23-July 23 Old flames think they can re-enter your life, as quickly as they last departed. You have moved on though, and should be enjoying yourself too much to even acknowledge them. Your mental state at present is way above par; you know what you want and where you are going.
Cabin Bed, Collection only (mattress not included). Non smoking, no pets household. Please contact Emma. £20, T: 07595 767703
Leo July 24-August 23
Face financial worries; don’t ignore them. Solutions are available from more unexpected sources than you think. All you have to do is put out the initial feelers. A friend needs a favour, which is above and beyond the call of duty but for some reason you’re willing to put yourself out for them.
Virgo August 24-September 23 Don’t be afraid to speak up. If you don’t take control of the situations in your life then others will. An older face that means a lot to you is going through a hard time but leave them to make the final decision on something, which could prove life changing for them.
Fujifilm FinePix S1500 Digital Camera - Black. In good working order. £60, T: 07783 932293
Libra September 24-October 23 Please be careful what you say about your personal life to new friends and faces. The stars are making you far more candid than usual and you may end up saying things that you will later regret. Remember that your words will not be forgotten, especially by the older generation.
Scorpio October 24-November 22 Fun times link to a face you know well and who you haven’t seen in the last two months. You have recently been discovering quite a few different sides to your personality and the most interesting one is the exploratory mood that your ruling planet mars is having upon you.
Sagittarius November 23-December 21
Metal headboard - Double, Silver. £20, T: 07783 932293
Your ruling planet Jupiter offers last minute exciting travel this month. If you don’t like the situation you are in then sit tight but don’t cause an atmosphere. It will take a long time to clear if you do. The home is under some important influences and major work is likely to be in the planning.
Capricorn December 22-January 20 Events that transpired last month have left you with little time on your hands to take on new things. Indeed the tying up of events is what this month is all about. Make sure you finish with style and don’t leave it to others, or you’ll end up ruining what started out as a professional job. Aquarius January 21-February 19 This month you spend most of your time organising things you have already gone over several times. Nerves appear to be playing a key role in the way you are acting and the sooner you make that phone call, the sooner you’ll get that answer you’ve been waiting for.
Mothercare (maxi cosy) travel system, suitable from birth. Lockable swivel wheels shopping bag. £100, T: 07512 811297
If it's your birthday this month
HITACHI HD TV 32" HDMI/Scart/ Remote, good working condition. Will deliver locally. £30 ono, T: 01733 242619 / T: 07801 826796
A new way to do your job is found and makes your life an easier place to be. New flirtations come with a price. Check out what it is before you go any further. You are likely to be feeling overtired from all the mental work you have been doing, you need to rest from time to time.
