FISHING AT ITS FINEST. Before our boats leave the factory, before they ever touch water, we mark them with Lund’s name across the side. For us, the mark isn’t a matter of decoration. It’s a symbol that recognizes a heritage of superior construction and unbeatable performance. Because from a distance, you might not be able to distinguish the IPS™ hull or the power strake design, but you can see four letters across the side—four letters that represent 66 years of quality craftsmanship for fishermen, by fishermen The next time you’re in a secluded cove with a line in the water, look at that mark on the side of your boat and know you’re not just in a fishing boat. You’re in a Lund

Two Hulls, One Tradition Lund’s hulls are made from fiberglass and aluminum—two very different materials. But our hulls aren’t defined by raw material. They’re defined by tradition, quality craftsmanship and meticulous standards. Because how the boat is made is just as important as what it’s made from. Both our aluminum and fiberglass hulls are derived from the same innovative design—Lund’s IPSTM and IPSTM2 (Integrated Power Strake) technology. We’ve developed a construction process that incorporates the same industry-leading design into every hull that comes off the line. Our aluminum and fiberglass hulls expand your possibilities and offer a customizable experience, we take pride knowing that whatever material you choose—whether it’s the smooth and sleek fiberglass or rugged aluminum— you’re still riding in a Lund.

FIBERGLASS
ALUMINUM
The smooth finish and sleek coloration on Lund’s fiberglass boats come from precision molds developed at Lund. But beyond the distinctive fiberglas look, the molds also serve to ensure consistency in performance and durability in every fiberglass hull that comes off the line. True straightness within the composite fiberglass structure is guaranteed because the molds themselves have been optimized from the outset.
Lund’s aluminum hulls aren’t just built to perform at the highest level. They are built to maintain that unmatched handling through years of hard use. That starts by using the most durable raw aluminum in the industry. From there, our employees use cutting-edge shaping techniques to hand-piece together the IPSTM and IPSTM2 hulls on every Lund. The seams are double-riveted for a more rugged structure ensuring long-lasting performance.

Smooth Operator Sometimes you’re only as good as the boat you fish in. If you can’t maintain your position while fishing, your chances for hooking that monster fish decrease significantly. Thankfully, Lund boats have been meticulously engineered and constructed to deliver unmatched control that allows you to outperform the competition every time. At the core of it all is Lund’s exclusive IPS™ (Integrated Power Strake) and IPS™ 2 hull designs. The IPS systems utilize a pronounced center keel that helps maintain ultimate boat control. At the back of the hull, water hits a flat pad, which greatly reduces churn. The non-turbulent water creates less motor strain and, ultimately, delivers better performance. Wide reverse chines allow for precise cornering maneuvers and overall better control. They allow the boat to get on plane quicker and improve holeshot, as well. Finally, a wider footprint enhances onboard stability. IPS integrates all of these features into a cohesive system that provides anglers with better backtrolling, superior drift control and more sophisticated boat positioning. Simply put, Lund boats deliver a more precise, faster, higher, smoother and drier ride.
1 Lund Boats track like a train on rails, when trolling forward or backward, to maintain your desired position at any time. 2 Additional strakes on the IPSTM2 hull provide more control to enhance tracking ability and give you the competitive advantage. 3 Reverse chines add an additional dimension to boat control. They not only provide added stability, but also additional edges to cut water and stay on top of the fish. 4 Lund’s pronounced center keel works to eliminate cross drift, making it easy to stay in complete control and reduce battery and human fatigue. 5 Lund Boats are engineered to be center balanced. This keeps the hull working at maximum efficiency for ultimate tracking control in all conditions.

Floats Your Boat Lund engineers strive to design hulls that can endure the most extreme conditions. One of those extremes? A hull riddled with dozens of gaping holes—66 to be exact. The engineers gouged into the aluminum around the entire frame of their “holey” boat and launched it onto the water. The boat not only stayed afloat, it maintained stability and performance at high speeds when on a plane, allowing the engineers to safely return to land with little more than damp shoes. The secret to Lund’s superior flotation, even when taking on water, is strategically injected foam that meets and exceeds Coast Guard regulations. The buoyant material lining the inside of the hull ensures superior stability and flotation under extreme stress. For more information on Lund’s flotation compliance process and to see videos of the “holey” boat, visit www.lundboats.com.

A Job Well Done
Captain’s Creature Comforts
Lund’s pioneering work with livewells keeps your catch healthier and less prone to stress
PROLONG PLUS The envy of the industry and the most technologically advanced system to ever hit the water, the ProLong Plus is designed with a freshwater pickup integrated into the bottom of the hull, where it forces a steady flow of water into the livewell while the boat is running.
2075/1900/1800 TYEE: COMMAND CONSOLE PROLONG This two-pump design keeps water fresher and fis calmer than any other in the industry. One pump fills and aerates the well from above the fish, while the other recirculates and injects fresh air via the MaxAir system for maximum oxygenation.
The redesigned 2075/1900/1800 Tyee will amaze anglers with its fantastic set of features—for both fishing and comfort. The command console offers distinct style and an ergonomic layout where everything is closer at hand.
AERATED Lund’s high-quality aerated livewell features a single pump with a single-switch control. You also have the option of running the aerator pump continuously in manual mode, or intermittently in automatic mode when the model is equipped with a timer.

The 1400 is a small boat with a big attitude. The compact frame will easily fit inside a garage on a trailer, but on the water this boat fishes like it has something to prove. But with the Lund name behind it, the 1400 has already earned the respect it deserves.

Lund Gear
Powerful Partners Lund prides itself in delivering the most rugged and dependable boats in the fishing industry, so it’s no surprise that Lund teams up with Mercury® Marine to provide the solid and efficient power to get you there and back. Mercury is an industry leader in four-stroke and directinjected two-stroke technology, and all of its engines run smoothly and responsively in any water conditions. Check out Mercury’s latest and greatest offerings here, and for more information, visit www.mercurymarine.com.
OPTIMAX PRO XS Mercury’s OptiMax Pro XS outboards deliver unprecedented speed and acceleration to help you get to where the fish are biting— fast! Several qualities make the Pro XS the best-selling tournament outboard in the world. For starters, its two-stage direct-injection system and high-tech carbon fiber reeds make for incredibly quick response and outstanding performance. The Pro XS also boasts higher open-throttle rpm for remarkable acceleration.
SPITFIRE PROPELLER Mercury’s FourStroke outboards have a new partner in crime: the Spitfire propeller. Four bold and uncompromising blades with high rake angles and extra cup give Mercury’s FourStrokes greater acceleration without compromising top speed.
150 FOURSTROKE WEAR WITH PRIDE You wouldn’t be caught in any boat but a Lund while fishing your favorite waters. Now you can further look the part of a hardcore angler, thanks to Lund’s extensive line of apparel. Men, women and children can sport clothing with a range of Lund logos from past to present and hats for sun protection. Show your Lund pride along with the pros by visiting www.lundboats.com and clicking on “Gear.”

“That’s the difference between a Lund glass and a competitor glass; if I want to fish for bass, panfish, salmon, muskie, backtroll drift, I can do all that because of the sharp edges, deep keel and what’s incorporated into that hull.” -Marty Glorvigen, Lund Pro Staff member www.lundboats.com

Psi PRESIDENT’S NOTE Photo by Bill Lindner
®
President, Lund Boats Dirk Hyde Marketing Director Jason Oakes
Building Passion At Lund, we not only construct the original fishing boats renowned for ruggedness—we create experiences and build passion. When we build a boat, success isn’t simply measured by whether or not it floats; success is measured by our customers telling us that they have a newfound appreciation for fishing, hunting and being out on the water. We want our customers to fall in love with fishing and the outdoors, not just float from point A to point B. We want them to experience the same feeling that we do when the next bite hits our line. That is why every Lund is a reflection of our angling passion. We build passion by crafting a precision hull that can maneuver over a fishing structure in rough chop. We add reverse chines and strakes to the hull for superior performance and stability. We design a world-class livewell system and include innovative fishing features and all types of storage for exceptional fishability. Every detail, from bow to stern, is designed to grow your fishing passion even more.
“We want our customers to fall in love with fishing and the outdoors, not just float from point A to point B.”
Across America, we have developed a network of Pro Staff guides and boat owners who help us turn that passion into fully developed designs. From the icy river waters in New York to the rough chop of Lake Powell, Arizona, these dedicated anglers provide us with valuable feedback on how to deliver the best experiences on the water (read about their fishing passion on page 18). That feedback translates into new and unforgettable experiences for our boat owners every day. Like on Hawk Lake, where vacationers use a Lund for rugged adventures in southwest Ontario (read more on page 12). Or at Lake Joseph in Ontario, where a Lund Alaskan has been retrofitted to help blind and partially sighted clients haul in their first fish (read more on page 6). It doesn’t matter whether it’s a seasoned veteran or a firsttime angler hoisting up a catch for a photo, the feeling of satisfaction and passion grows with every cast. That’s what we build at Lund, and it’s what drives us to improve as we look toward the future. Dirk Hyde President, Lund Boats

FIRST Gear, news and ideas to deliver the ultimate fishing experience.
New Addition Entering the Lund lineup midyear is the completely redesigned 1675 Pro Guide. At 16'9" and with a 90" beam, the 1675 Pro Guide is loaded with plenty of features. There are two rod lockers, a starboard double hinged rod locker that will hold rods up to 8'6" and a center rod locker for rods up to 7' long. Lund has also crafted a new command console with integrated tackle tray storage for three trays, a pull out drawer large enough for a bait cooler and a retractable electronics shelf that folds down to hide away and lock. Combine all these great new features with the control and precision of the Pro Guide itself—and you have a fishing machine that is hard to beat.

How well do you know your gasoline? Although ethanol-blended gasoline is commonly used in automotive applications, it can be the root of many serious, expensive problems for your marine engine if you don’t use the proper ethanol gasoline treatment. That is why ValvTect has developed two all-inclusive gasoline solutions that account for fuel stability and phase separation, while also effectively preventing corrosion of internal engine components. ValvTect Marine Gasoline contains ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment along with a substantial amount of corrosion inhibitor and has been proven to prevent corrosion from ethanol and non-ethanol gasoline. Since E10 (10% ethanol and 90% gasoline) can hold up to 25 times more water than pure gasoline, this can cause rusting of certain engine and fuel system components. When tested in E10, using the petroleum industry’s required test for corrosion, ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment received a perfect “A” rating for completely preventing oxidization and corrosion. To protect your boat’s engine and fuel system from rusting and all other ethanol related problems, trust ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment and ValvTect Marine Gasoline to protect your Lund’s engine for the long haul.

Big Things Ahead The 2075 Tyee Magnum is Lund’s big water boat for serious anglers hunting for big fish and new adventures.
THE MOST REWARDING FISHING EXCURSIONS ARE THE ONES THAT TRANSPIRE JUST BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF YOUR USUAL STOMPING GROUNDS. As the unfamiliar terrain unfolds before you, your chest begins to pound with the adrenaline of exploration. But the only thing more enticing than discovering unexplored hotspots in big water is reeling in a personal-record trophy to show off. For that kind of endeavor, you are going to need Lund’s big water boat, the 2075 Tyee Magnum. Derived from the Chinook word for “chief,” the 2075 Tyee Magnum is exactly that—the leader of the pack, the alpha male. At 20'10", this rugged fishing boat comes ready for big water adventure. Every detail, from clever rod storage solutions throughout the cockpit to numerous seating options for up to nine people, makes the Magnum a true fishing excursion boat for a whole crew of friends and family. “The 2075 Tyee Magnum is a rugged boat that allows you to determine when you go fishing—not the weather,” says Tony Kolker, Lund’s marketing manager. “When you add in the deep, expansive cockpit, integrated aft flip seats and storage areas for numerous 10' rods—you have a big water boat that is not only safe and comfortable, but also truly fishable.” Consider the abundant room for all your rods. Center storage can house up to six rods that are 10'6" in length. And if you need additional space for your gear, portside storage offers room for four 10' rods while the starboard side hosts space for four 8'6" rods. With all this storage built in, you and your crew have an entire arsenal to track down the photoworthy catches. Even though many owners cite the Magnum’s impressive size as a major advantage when big water fishing, the boat’s responsive maneuverability is one of its most practical features. The signature IPS™2 hull means that the boat has a pronounced center keel, strakes and reversed chines to keep this fishing vessel on a true and predictable course, while you keep your eyes ahead to spot your next strike zone. But what is robust construction without the proper outboard engine to put you over the action? The Magnum has Mercury® power options all the way up to 250-hp, so you never

have to give up on a chase when you are at the beginning of a hot streak. Such a large size also comes with added security and comfort. The 2075 Tyee Magnum offers deep freeboard with a 30" cockpit depth to keep all your passengers, cargo and catches safe. And with our ProRide seats and two standard aft flip-up seats, trolling lines and waiting for a big bite has never been more convenient for you and an entire crew. “Every aspect of the Tyee Magnum has been specifically designed for big water adventures,” Kolker says. “We conducted a lot of research with consumers and dealers to understand what features are most important to them and listened to what they wanted on their next boat. It is our job to create reality from those discussions.” The 2075 Tyee Magnum will change your perspective on the types of waters you are able to explore and the kinds of fish—from salmon to walleye—you will be able to haul in. That’s because it is much more than the biggest fishing boat in the Lund lineup; it is an unrivaled experience. (Left) Lawrence and a friend show off their rods aboard a Lund 1800 Alaskan before a full day of fishing on Lake Joseph.
Lawrence Gunther was registered blind at age 8. But now at 50, when he grips a rod at the edge of a boat, he doesn’t need to see that underwater world. He can feel it. He can smell it. He can hear it. And sometimes, he can even taste it. Lawrence can tell you how deep a body of water is. He can tell you if the bottom is gravel or sand. He can measure the size of rocks. He can determine if a weed system is healthy. Using four senses to catch fish, Lawrence is much more skilled than your average angler. “When I’m on the water and I hear the wind on the trees and on the shore, and other boats passing by, I can visualize that whole body of water just by the soundscape,” Lawrence says. “It really opens up my senses. The smell of the water, the taste of the water, the feel of the boat on the waves. I really become part of the environment.” When the tip of his hook grazes an object at the bottom of a lake, it sends ripples of movement up his line, through his rod and into his hands. Lawrence doesn’t just feel vibrations against a padded handle—he feels mud in the murky depths, or the bite of a smallmouth bass, or the sudden strike of a lake trout.
Beyond competing in 25 fishing tournaments a year, Lawrence is a motivational speaker, author and environmental conservationist. His work has taken him across Canada, inspiring the blind not to set limits on what’s possible. Lawrence started to fish when he was 3, in a stocked backyard pond at his boyhood home. As his failed central vision caused his sight to deteriorate into complete blindness, his passion for fishing grew even stronger. He wanted to share the feel of a bite with other visually impaired Canadians. He wanted them to know that you don’t need to see under the surface when you can feel it. When he was 19, Lawrence started working as a counselor at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind’s Lake Joseph Centre, a facility that for more than 50 years has offered a host of outdoor recreational activities like waterskiing, sailing and kayaking to the blind and partially sighted community. Lawrence brought guests to an old wooden wharf, where he taught them to drop lines and feel for the nibble of lurking panfish. But beyond the dock and beneath the hundreds of islands and jagged inlets of Lake Joseph,
bigger trophies remained elusive to the fishing guests. To take advantage of the lake’s bountiful smallmouth bass and trout, they needed a safe and powerful boat—one specifically tailored to meet the needs of the visually impaired. “The Lake Joseph Centre is a facility that provides life-changing experiences for people who are blind and partially sighted,” says Ryan Chin, the CNIB’s manager of community giving and former director of the Centre. Ryan, also blind, knew that creating this program was an important endeavor. “Back in 2010, Lawrence hinted to me that we needed to get a real fishing program started to create more of those experiences. This is not about giving our customers a fishing pole to throw in the water and see what happens. It’s about ensuring they have the right tools. It’s about giving them a real world-class experience.” That’s why Ryan approached Lund to help launch the program. He knew the boat would be the centerpiece of the experience. In the summer of 2013, Lund worked with Mercury® to partner with the CNIB on a brand-new 1800 Alaskan with a 75-hp motor, to ensure optimal fishing for guests.

— ——— “Instead of looking around, they are feeling everything as they go around. They’re feeling the boat going through the waves. The wind on their faces. It makes it into a real adventure.”
———— The Alaskan is ideally suited as both a powerful fishing machine and a safe, comfortable ride for blind visitors. The deep, flat floor and wide-open deck let guests confidently enter and exit with the help of one of CNIB’s trained staff members. Only one modification was made: Lund slightly adjusted the seat bases to allow for a lifeguard to sit comfortably in the rear near the driver. “When we get going they get the full feel of the wind in their face and on their body,” Lawrence says. “That’s a big part of the experience. Instead of looking around they are feeling everything as they go around. They’re feeling the boat going through the waves. The wind on their faces. It makes it into a real adventure.” A major challenge for the blind guests is feeling secure in new environments. The deep
cockpit and comfortable pedestal seats in the Lund ensure that the passengers feel safe at all times. The IPS™ hull design on the Alaskan also provides a smoother ride even through rough chop, an essential feature for feeling comfort and security out on the water. Accompanied by a trained lifeguard and boat driver, three guests at a time take the Lund to one of many fishing hotspots around Lake Joseph. For three hours, they drop lines directly off the side of the gunwale, attempting to hook the bass and trout lurking below. For most of those afternoon excursions during July and August, guide Darien Samaroo manned the tiller engine of the Alaskan. Trained by Lawrence to teach the guests how to fish by feel alone, Darien witnessed many guests touch their catches for the first time. He
was responsible for netting and presenting catches to the successful fishermen. The guests then inspected the damp scales, gills and fins by hand. “When that first strike hits, a lot of guests panic at first,” Darien says. “But I tell them to be calm, to point their rod toward the sky. They get that first experience of pulling up a fish.” “You can hear a bird in a tree and you can hear a squirrel, but fish are one of the few wild animals that you can actually hold in your hands and release again,” Lawrence says. “There aren’t too many opportunities where blind people can hold a wild animal in nature.” It’s these first life experiences that motivate Darien, Lawrence, Ryan and the rest of the CNIB organization. Just offshore, on a Lund trolling though gentle waves, they offer proof that lack of sight isn’t an insurmountable obstacle. “I know how important it is to go somewhere and know that you’re not going to get told no,” Ryan says. “I think that Lund and Mercury ® have done a great thing by giving clients the opportunity to get out there. Too many times we are told no. By Lund and Mercury saying yes, it has allowed the CNIB to say yes a thousand times over.”

ROCKS and

— —— THE TOPOGRAPHY of flooded and exposed bedrock provides
ample fishing structure like points, islands and reefs, plus lots of current running through river inlets and narrows. Coves, back bays and shallow, rocky shorelines are a haven for walleye, depending on the weather and point in the season. Of course, all of these features can quickly wreak havoc on a boat, unless that boat is up to the task. “Lunds are the workhorses of the north. They are so durable,” says Ted Putnam, owner of Hawk Lake Lodge, an Orvis-endorsed establishment near Kenora, Ontario. “We wanted boats that would work flawlessly, boats that we wouldn’t have to worry about.” Presently, Ted is captaining an 18-foot Lund SSV across a windswept lake, beaching it up on shore. “This is where we get off,” he says to lodge guest David Glossberg, who is visiting from Chicago. From there, it’s a one-mile portage to the next lake, where they’ll fish for the day. Hawk Lake Lodge guests have the opportunity to fish their choice of 18 private smaller outlakes in the area. David hauls his gear through the forest, winding his way through stands of fir, spruce and lodgepole pine. He stops to inspect the moss-covered ground. “What a wonderful corner of the world,” he says. When they reach the shoreline of a smaller secluded lake, they spot Ted’s 16-foot SSV. He keeps at least one such Lund on all of the private outlakes, each powered by a Mercury® engine ranging from 25- to 40-hp. Not only can these boats withstand the abundant rock formations that lie just below the pristine slate-colored waters, but they can also endure winter after winter in this unforgiving environment.
Now, it’s no easy feat to get the boats to these remote lakes. Ted and his crew have three options. Either they lug them in on foot, which is quite grueling; wait until winter and haul them in with snowmobiles; or load them up on float planes. And once a Lund is on its designated lake, it stays on that lake. Some have remained in service for 10 to 15 years. For the winter, Ted simply turns them over and covers them. “No matter what we put those boats through, they look like they just came out of the factory,” he says. Lund engineers a boat that’s durable and reliable no matter the terrain or conditions. That’s why Ted feels confident sending guests who might not have a lot of boating experience out on their own. “We have rocks everywhere, and I have fishermen who don’t always know where those rocks are,” Ted says, “but I’ve never had a leak in one of these things.” Ted’s guests have free rein to fish a radius of 40 miles from the lodge, but he’s always confident that folks will get back safely even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. “We have a lot of big storms coming in that kick up 6- to 8-foot whitecaps,” he says. “The Lunds just slice right through the waves. The same can’t be said for other types of boats.” At Hawk Lake Lodge, guests have the option of enjoying a fully guided day on the lake or heading out solo. Today, David opted for a guided tour, because although he enjoys outdoor

activities like fishing, he’s only had experience in limited doses. “I’m a city kid,” he says with a laugh. “But I love adventure. I love nature.” After arriving at the lodge late the previous afternoon, David spent time fishing straight off his cabin’s back deck. Hawk Lake Lodge appealed to David because it offers the chance for rugged exposure during the day balanced with fine dining and luxury amenities at night. “It’s a beautiful location,” he says. “And for how remote it is, they’ve done such a great job with these lodges.” A couple more guests on a second Lund join David and his guide. Over the course of the morning, the group hooks up with several walleye. Jig-tipped classic walleye baits like leech, minnows and crawlers work best on Canadian Shield Lakes. A great method is to simply get right above the fish, that is, if you locate them hanging around a drop-off structure at a reasonable depth where the boat won’t send them running. If the fish are playing in shallower waters, casting and trolling is a better strategy. On a recent visit, fishing legend and television personality Al Lindner called Hawk Lake Lodge “one of the best big walleye fisheries

in the world.” The lodge has produced five catchand-release world records, including the largest walleye at 37 inches, and the largest smallmouth bass at nearly 9 pounds. Hefty muskies, northern pike and lake trout are known to show up, too. When the sun reaches its peak in the sky, the group pulls their boats up to a rocky outcropping to collect firewood and set up for a shore lunch of pan-fried fish and baked beans. The guests gladly fill up on the picnic offerings in the idyllic setting. Back at the lodge, for dinner and breakfast, they’ve been treated to gourmet cuisine prepared by a chef trained in the Caribbean. “The food is just like you are going to a five-star restaurant in New York City,” Ted says. Great amenities and easy access (you can reach the lodge by car), combined with worldclass fishing, are the features that set Hawk Lake apart from other outfits in the region. “It no longer has to be just a bunch of dudes sitting around drinking a beer at a rough-looking fish camp,” explains Ted, who bought the lodge four years ago after having been a longtime guest. “People bring their wives along. And it’s nice for the women to know that if they aren’t into fishing, they aren’t going to be sitting around
swatting mosquitos all day.” Ted is referring to the fact that the lodge boasts amenities like a sauna, hot tub and fitness room. And guests can enjoy hikes, canoeing and swimming in addition to fishing. “Really, it’s Disney World for grownups. You don’t even have to fish to have a good time. Just imagine watching the Northern Lights with a stogie or a glass of wine in your hand.”
The lodge has produced five catch-and-release world records, including the largest walleye at 37 inches and the largest smallmouth bass at nearly 9 pounds. Born and raised in New England, Ted began his fishing career plying farm ponds in Vermont. He then branched out and tried catching striper in the Atlantic and bonefish down in the Bahamas, but it was at Hawk Lake Lodge that he really found heaven. “Basically I was introduced to fishing in Canada,” he says. “It’s the best fishing in the world.” Now Ted relishes sharing the experience with others. “The best part of my job
is seeing a grandfather teach his granddaughter how to drive a boat and hook a fish,” he says. “We get people who host their family reunions up here.” The lodge accommodates people from all walks of life—those like David, looking to spend some time in nature, and those who are serious, diehard anglers. The fact that Hawk Lake is endorsed by Orvis says a lot; the esteemed outdoor retailer and travel outfitter is selective about recommending lodge destinations. “This means that Orvis fished with us and has given their stamp of approval,” Ted explains. He says that obviously the amazing fishery has something to do with the accolade, but he also credits the Lund SSVs. “They have these great, sturdy casting decks,” he explains. “Our fly fishermen who fish on the outlying lakes love them. Plus, these boats can stand up to anything.” As lunch on the shoreline draws to a close, the guests become quiet, full on good food and the scenic views of the Canadian Shield. The smoke from the fire intermingles with the fragrance of pine. David looks out at the lake and lets his lungs expand with the great outdoors. “It’s absolutely amazing,” he says. “You don’t get

Diversity. This is a common, ubiquitous word weaved into our national history. But this melting-pot concept is even more concrete than philosophy or identity— with three thousand miles of land stretched between two vast oceans, America’s unique topography varies just as much as the residents who inhabit it.
Anglers use regional diversity to their advantage, harnessing their respective landscape’s characteristics to haul in worthy catches. That’s why they need boats that can quickly adapt to a wide range of environments, from whitecaps in a large lake to shallow waters near a river’s shore. To create the ultimate lineup of multispecies fishing boats, Lund has amassed a continent-wide network of Pro Staff members who provide design input on fishing boats that can handle any conditions from coast to coast.

Every body of water offers new opportunities and challenges, but Lund’s exceptional performance will stay constant. (Left) John Jamison shows off another trophy and stands with his crew. (Right) Jarrett Edwards poses in front of a Lund with his son Westin.
These professional anglers have developed an immense knowledge of their local lakes and creeks. But beyond the diversity of geographic features that separate these pros, they unanimously believe in another word: Lund. John Jamison Spring Hill, Kansas Inside Lund’s aluminum 2010 Pro Guide, John Jamison has revolutionized river fishing for catfish. He’s an innovator with a technique that’s only possible with a trolling motor and the 2010’s powerful tiller engine. Called a “controlled drift,” John faces his Lund directly upriver, and slows the boat to half the speed of the current. After he casts his line, the flowing water pulls the bait downriver, causing it to imitate the gestures of a dying fish—an offer too tempting for lurking trophies to refuse. Besides accumulating winning catches in tournaments around the country, John now sees his competitors try to emulate his method, which is nearly impossible without the deft maneuverability of a Lund. “I have fished for about 40 years, I’ve guided for 15, tournament fished for 20, and above all the boats I’ve ever been in, the Lund Pro Guide meets and exceeds all criteria for what I do,” John says. “It is by far the best catfish boat I have ever used.”
Those are words you will hear John say often. But not just for catfish. He says Lund is a true multi-species boat, one that excels in any condition or on any body of water. “I can’t say enough about this boat. This is by far the most fishable boat on the market.” For John, the benefits go beyond the precision, power and maneuverability necessary for gaining a competitive edge in professional catfish tournaments. Catfishing requires longer poles and a substantial amount of equipment, but the innovative storage design implemented into every Lund carries his entire load, which usually includes a champion fish at the end of the day. Jarrett Edwards Page, Arizona Glassy blue water meanders between jagged rocks to form the striking image that is Lake Powell, America’s second largest man-made body of water. Of course, the water is only glassy on calm days—when the wind picks up, so do the rollers. But that doesn’t stop Jarrett Edwards, a professional angler and TV personality who calls this lake home. The unpredictable winds and tides require a stable boat, one that can cover long swaths of the nearly 2,000 miles of shoreline, even in chop. “We get a lot of really big waves so it’s a
requirement to be able to get home safely,” Jarrett says. “My Lund is set up like a tank. They really construct them to ensure safety.” A former competitor on the ESPN Bassmaster circuit, Jarrett now stars in the nationally syndicated television show “Jarrett Edwards Outdoors.” From the deck of his Lund, he travels around the western U.S. showing off his fishing skills to viewers across the country. But closer to home, Jarrett refers to Lake Powell as “America’s natural playground.” Inside either a 2010 Lund Predator or 2075 Tyee, he is able to transition from flyfishing for striper, to chasing rainbow trout, pike or walleye.

————— ————— “Most boaters wouldn’t feel comfortable putting their boat through these kinds of conditions. But with my Lund, I am confident.”
“The boat is just so versatile. In another boat I might have to worry about what gear I am able to pack,” Jarrett says. “The beauty of the Lund is that I can literally take and store anything I want. For me, it’s a great fishing experience.” Rich Mikuska Beaver Lake, Arkansas In 1994, Rich Mikuska was on the cusp of opening a guiding business on Beaver Lake, a spindly body of water just south of the Missouri border in Arkansas. The lake was already primed to offer a world class fishing experience. It’s noted internationally as a top striper destination. Before getting his business off the ground, Rich needed a boat that would form its foundation. The decision was easy. As a lifelong Lund owner, he didn’t need to look further than the
brand that he learned to fish on. It may have come as a surprise to other lake patrons though. At the time, the Midwest was Lund country, but down south the brand was unfamiliar. “Back in 1995 I was the only Lund on Beaver Lake,” Rich says. Word of his business savvy spread fast though and today, Rich estimates at least 300 Lunds navigate through the clear waters along with his 2000 Sport Angler. “All of the experiences I have had with Lund have been positive,” Rich says. “It’s a pleasure for me to recommend this boat to anyone because it feels safe and it makes my customers happy.” Tony Zappia Massena, New York Just south of the Canadian border, Massena residents don’t typically get three full seasons on the St. Lawrence River, which cuts just north of the

town. That is, unless they are willing and able to deal with bitter cold and an icy shoreline, like Tony Zappia and his 2000 Lund Alaskan. Just before sunrise in the early days of December, Tony is the only one at his local boat ramp because the few meters of ice extending into the river keep most people at home. Tony’s 2000 Lund Alaskan slowly makes its way through the frozen section to reach open water, where he, a hunting partner and their two dogs take advantage of worldclass waterfowl hunting. “When you are waterfowling, often there can be brutal conditions,” Tony says. “But when you are out there in a Lund, you know you are going to be safe and you are going to be dry.”
For years as a journalist, Tony reviewed boats specifically tailored for waterfowling. Over time, he realized the best boat on the market didn’t come from within the waterfowl industry, but from Lund. Not only does Lund provide the most durable hulls with the smoothest ride, but they manage to haul all the equipment Tony needs for his waterfowling expeditions—which, as it turns out, is an astonishing amount. “You can have four guys, two dogs and a ton of decoys in the Alaskan,” Tony says. Not to mention a cook stove, heating equipment, extra batteries and all of the hunting gear. “Most boaters wouldn’t feel comfortable putting their boats through these kinds of
conditions,” Tony says. “But with my Lund, I am confident.” Tony was one of the very last people to leave the St. Lawrence River in mid December, and you can bet that as the ice begins to thaw, he, his dogs, his pals and his Lund will be the first to return.
