TORN Part II—Trust God to be the One A. The Size of Your God Often Determines the Size of Your Trust “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” Rev. 21:6 “I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain,... He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, these words are trustworthy and true.” Rev. 21:3-5 “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made and without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life and that life was the light for all people…He came to his own people, but they did not receive him. Yet, to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:1-4 & 11-12
What Keeps Us From Trusting God To Be the One 1. Impatience “Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck. Deeper and deeper I sink…I am in such deep water the floods overwhelm me. I am exhausted from crying out for help;…waiting for my God to help me.” Psalm 69:1-3 Answer my prayers, O Lord, for your unfailing love is wonderful…your mercy is plentiful.” Psalm 69:16
1a. Many times what we may feel like dry periods, lonely times, may instead be times of preparation. “And we know that God has everything work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:26
2. Short memories “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for good and not disaster, to give you hope and a future…When you pray I will listen.”Jer. 29:11-12 You Have a God Who is Powerful Enough and Loving Enough to see you Through Whatever Leaves you TORN. Be Patient; Remember How God Has Delivered You in the Past, and Trust God to Be the One to See You Through in the Future.
