Something that slows people down is the position of their chin. Do not look upwards. You should tuck your chin in because your body should not be in an upward position rather it should be leaning forward and the way to do this is to position your chin properly.
Think about your arms. You may be slowing yourself down by producing drag. Never swing your arms across your body because that is specifically what creates drag in the way the air flows around you as you move forward and it ends up slowing you down. Instead always move your arms forward. Before you begin any speed training program you should warm up and a good idea is to vary your warm ups with the idea of gradually increasing the load and pressure you are placing on your Muscles. Many people make the error of keeping the warm up exercise precisely the same and the body ultimately gets accustomed to it. You want your muscular tissues to get stronger which will help you performance improve. One technique to try is to do shorter runs. 10,20,30 meter sprints are ideal when trying to improve your speed. One of the advantages is that you will experience less exhaustion and tiredness in your legs because at the end of the day it is usually short distances you are trying to improve your speed over.
