Bristol Young Heroes Awards

The Bristol Young Heroes Awards aim to shine a light on the fantastic work of the young people in Bristol. Nominations have closed and judging is complete as we are now less than eight weeks away from the awards ceremony itself. This year we have 10 Categories, including our brand new Covid Hero Category which is to acknowledge and appreciate a young person who has gone above and beyond during the pandemic. We have an amazing cohort of finalists. Make sure to keep an eye out on our Twitter and Facebook page for the announcements for each category. We are working hard to put on the best event that Bristol is yet to see, and our Carnival themes awards night which celebrates the 10th Annual Awards ceremony will be one to remember. Keep the 1st October free to come along or stream it online (thanks to our streaming partners UWE Bristol) for a night you won’t forget. We’ll update you in the next e-newsletter about how you can sign up to this event.

Bristol Together Championships

With the School year over our team have had a blast working with Year 5 students from all across Bristol doing training sessions and tournaments for these fantastic young footballers. The Bristol Together Championships program aims to build a bridge across social stigmas and equal opportunities for all young people. 38 But the fun isn’t over yet for this season. The highly anticipated festival in September provides an opportunity for all the students we have worked with to come together once more to celebrate their hard work and achievements with a day full of fun and football!

Break Free

On top of our other two projects, over the holidays Community of Purpose comes together with Youth Moves to fight back on holiday hunger & holiday boredom. This summer we have four weeks of free food, fun and activities for children aged 8-12 to enjoy in South Bristol.

We have had so much fun already supporting and working with these children to ensure they have a holiday filled with excitement and as many sandwiches as they can eat. Our team alongside Youth Moves have done a fantastic job so far providing sports, dancing, crafts, cooking, and have teamed up with other companies such as Whitchurch Dance Studio and Knowle West Media Centre to make this program even better! The best part is that we have three more weeks of engaging these brilliant young people, to make a difference to their lives.
