Your candidates for Brislington west
Your candidates for Brislington West: Jos Clark and Andrew Varney
As you may be aware, last year’s postponed local elections are due to be held on 6 May, 2021. Here in Bristol we have four elections taking place on the same day:
• Bristol City Council (In Brislington
West you can choose TWO local councillors to represent you at City
Hall)
• Mayor of Bristol
• Regional Mayor for the West of England Combined Authority (WECA)
• Police and Crime Commissioner
We have been a hardworking team over the last five years, with a proven track record of success fighting on local issues including saving Jubilee Pool (twice!), preventing the closure of Wick Road Library, winning funding for environmental improvements on Sandy Park Road, campaigning for the Brislington Greenway, and so much more.
If you elect us on 6 May, we will campaign to scrap the mayor and restore local democracy. The current system has given too much power to one person leading to costly failures such as around £60m wasted on Bristol Energy and £12m on the failed Bristol Arena project.
We hope you will vote for both Jos Clark and Andrew Varney to be your local councillors for Brislington West.

This waste must end so we can put more money into supporting local communities like Brislington West. We want to franchise the bus system like London and Manchester so that we control routes, timetables and fares for the benefit of local residents and not shareholders. We want to scrap business rates to protect our high streets.
We have been working hard to promote local businesses and make Sandy Park Road a more desirable shopping destination. We must act on the climate emergency, the single greatest threat we face. We fought the expansion of Bristol Airport and are leading the fight against the environmentally damaging Callington Road Link. On 6 May, vote for Jos Clark and Andrew Varney to represent you at City Hall. We will listen to your concerns and fight for your causes. We have a proud record of local action and we will continue our hard work so that local residents are better represented.
We believe in keeping residents up to date on important local issues and publish a quarterly newsletters, ‘Focus on Brislington West’. We also have a digital version and if you would like to receive it, please register using this link: http://www.bristollibdems.org/ efocus.
