Take advantage of ELS’s long-standing partnerships with over 600 college and university partners in the United States. Our knowledgeable staff can support you through the entire process from selecting the right university, to applying for conditional or direct admissions, to submitting your English certificate upon completion of your ELS program and heading to university (no TOEFL or IELTS test score required!).

CONDITIONAL ADMISSIONS

Before you even leave home to learn English, you can take full advantage of securing your conditional admission to one of ELS’s 600+ colleges and universities in the USA. You can apply for conditional admissions for both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. A conditional admission means that you have been accepted to your university of choice upon completion of your English language studies. Your admission will be updated to a “full acceptance” once you present the university or college with your ELS Certificate of Completion as proof of English language proficiency.

Securing a “conditional admission” is very beneficial to your plans to study in the United States! You will have

1. A full study plan that includes both English languagestudies and university plans before leaving your home country.

2. A smooth transition upon graduating with your ELS Certificate of Completion.

3. An estimated university program start date for which semester you will begin your studies.

DIRECT ADMISSIONS

Do you already meet the English language requirement for your university of choice? ELS can still help you! Through ELS’s University Admission Service, you can apply for direct admissions to your chosen university so long as you enroll for one session of ELS in person or online. English and French Tests

ILSC English and French Tests

ILSC FREE ENGLISH TEST: Can be taken by anyone, any time, to get a general idea of their English level. This test provides an instant result to your email.

ILSC GENERAL ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST: Taken by students who have registered for our General English programs, registered students will take this test 2 weeks before their start date and will be placed in the right class from day 1.

ILSC ACADEMIC ENGLISH OR FRENCH PLACEMENT TEST: Taken by students who have registered for ILSC specialized programs like University Pathway, and for Greystone College applicants. This test is taken to confirm if students meet the language entry level for their program and to help them plan any additional English or French study before starting their specific program.

ELS English Tests

ELS ACADEMIC English Placement Test (formerly PROLA): Delivered online, the ELS Academic English Placement Test assesses students' reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and speaking. Students need a computer with microphone and camera to complete the test, which takes about 75 minutes. ELS receives the results within 24 hours and can use them to place students in the right class and to help them plan how long they need to study to achieve their English learning or university goals. This test is the same as the ILSC Academic English test, adapted to reflect ELS language levels.
