Because of its situation on the Great North Road, many people have passed through Stamford over the centuries. If they were just travelling, their encounters were usually extremely brief, but often repeated. Some of these people were famous or became so; some came for work or another specific purpose, while others lived here for a while, before moving on. 21st – Jan. 21st - “Play @ Home” – Lyngo Theatre, Online portal of videos, creative tasks and more (hosted by Lyngo, full details will be on their web listing). £12 per family. 25th - “Pint of Poetry”: 8pm. The last Wednesday of every month, Stamford poets (and budding poets) perform live stand-up poetry. Enjoy reading aloud to an appreciative crowd. Or if you prefer, simply enjoy the poetry of others.
