North Kesteven District Council offers something for visitors of all ages at its popular visitor attractions. These events are designed to help you discover these fascinating places.

Venues will be celebrating Discover Lincolnshire Weekend showcasing everything that’s great about Lincolnshire. People visiting both Cogglesford Watermill and Navigation House can claim a free 500g bag of Cogglesford Mill’s wholemeal flour when saying “Discover Lincolnshire!” Cogglesford Watermill and Navigation House

One Hundred Years of Aviation On 1 April 1916 the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) Training Establishment, HMS Daedalus, was opened at Cranwell. The Royal Flying Corps (RFC), the air arm of the British Army until the formation of the Royal Air Force (RAF) on 1 April 1918, were also stationed there. Discovernk is teaming up with the Museum at The Manor House Stables in Martin and Heritage and Ethos Centre at RAFC Cranwell, to exhibit a collection of uniforms and artefacts from that era. Eggciting Easter Trail! £1.00 Everyone enjoyed our Easter Trail so much last year we’ve decided to do another one! All three venues will have hidden pictures for you to find and copy. Find the full set and head back to claim your prize!

On 15 May 1941 RAF Cranwell saw the first flight of an allied jet-powered aircraft, the Gloster E28/39, using an engine designed by Sir Frank Whittle. To celebrate this historic event, Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre is teaming up with the Jet Provost Group and Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre. Visitors to both sites will be able to witness aircraft taxy runs, various jet engines, jet cockpits and the chance to win a taxy ride in Jet Provost XS186! National Mills Weekend Cogglesford Watermill joins in with this National celebration as the mill rumbles into action, grinding the mill’s own stoneground flour. They will be joined by Greenfield Bakery who produce delicious bread using traditional wood fired ovens. Cogglesford Watermill

Spooky goings on at the Mill

Discovernk is teaming up with Select Lincolnshire to showcase all that is excellent in Lincolnshire. A chance to discover delicious local produce and fabulous local crafts.

Come and explore this creaky old mill and take part in lots of Hallowe’en fun. There will be hidden clues to discover as you investigate this historic building and craft activities to make your own spooky mask and more!

A Walk through History

Summer Fun

Local historian, Simon Pawley will guide you through a part of the traditional market town of Sleaford. The walk will include a visit to Old Sleaford and The Old Place, once the home of powerful nobleman Lord John Hussey (who was executed for disloyalty to Henry VIII after the 1536 Lincolnshire and Yorkshire Risings). Find out what the most recent archaeology has discovered on the site. Learn, too, why one of the best known vanished landmarks of Sleaford never really existed!

International Museums on the Air Joining in with this national event, Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre will host an amateur radio station to make contact with Museums from around the world. Find out what is going on in museums from as far away as Norway! Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre

Once again all three venues will be taking part in the Heritage Open Days designed to encourage visitors to explore their local history and heritage. There will be a free fun family trail at each centre on both days and you can see Cogglesford Watermill in action on Sunday. Greenfield Bakery will be joining Cogglesford Watermill with their delicious bread baked in a wood fired oven and Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre will be offering free refreshments.
