Save the Earth with
AIESEC Baroda
ABOUT BARODA Baroda(Vadodara) has a rich historical background. It is situated on the banks of the river Vishwamitri. The city was once called Chandravati, after its ruler king Chandan, then Viravati, the abode of the brave, and then Vadpatra because of its abundance of Banyan trees on the banks of the Vishwamitri. From Vadodara the Britishers named it as Baroda. Baroda is on the major rail and road arteries joining Mumbai with Delhi and Mumbai with Ahmedabad. Because of this Baroda is known as a “Gateway to the Golden Corridor. National highway no.8 passes through the city. It also has an airport which is very well connected with the other major airports of India. Public transport vehicles within the city include rickshaws(tuk-tuk), taxis and buses. Of course, people make use of their own vehicles- cars, scooters, bikes and bicycles.
Vadodara is also known as ‘Sanskari Nagari’, i.e. Cultured City. Vadodara is one of India’s most cosmopolitan cities. Thanks to the vision and broadmindedness of the Gaekwads, the subsequent industrialization, the proliferation of academic activities and a strategically important geographical location, Baroda has welcomed a wide variety of people from all over India and also from all over the world. In all of this, the sprawling and cosmopolitan MS University campus and the large number of local, national and foreign industries act as a catalyzing and unifying force. The great museums on the palace grounds such as the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum and art gallery are unique and carry artifacts from around the nation and the world. There are Gujarati film studios in the city as well as a large number of large old-style movie theatres in addition to the newer multiplexes that have sprung up in the past few years.

Shannen school is also part of JC group and also where part of the project is going to take place. Save the Earth is a movement that this organisation has tried to bring about in order to change the mindset of people who ignore the importance of environmental conservation or aren't even aware about it. This program has been running in Shannen school and BIMS for a few years.
THE ISSUE: ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
Global warming affects us all. This change in the environment has been rapidly increasing due to the increase in pollution. With a boom in the population and a high drainage on the resources, the need for conservation of the environment increases day by day. Every little effort counts, and hence AIESEC Baroda and BIMS have joined hands to work on the project called 'Save the Earth' to spread awareness on the conservation and green consumption of the resources. With rapid urbanization and race for economic growth, we, as the world collectively, are forgetting the necessity of environmental conservation.
