Spring is in Reboot Mode

Right: The rodeo/riding arena is starting to show through the ice that kept many entertained this winter.

Photos by Darson Dueck Top Left: The BMX Activity Hill is peaking out from under the mounds of snow that made it a pefect toboggan hill this winter. Bottom Left: Puddles forming around the park will slowly disappear leaving a green and vibrant park.

Everywhere we look, Spring is really trying to show its face. The park is no different as the snow slowly melts and the water drains away.

Community Garden Planned

With Communities in Bloom (CiB) proclaiming 2022 to be “The Year of the Garden”, the local committee has decided to create a new community project. If you like to garden but don’t have the space, the Richer CiB is in the process of developing a community garden. There are some details to work out, and this would depend mostly on the amount of people interested in using the garden. New gardeners are more than welcome. Eat better, feel better, live better. Plant a garden. “In the garden there are no differences, just plants, and people of all ages and cultures who love them.” Quote from the website, please check it out: communitiesinbloom.ca.

Excellent Community Growth

Hello Residents of Richer, Ward 3 and the RM of Ste Anne. I want to start off by welcoming a new business to our Municipality and to the Local Urban District of Richer. Located on the corner of PR 302 and #1 Highway we see the return of an ESSO station as well as a new Subway restaurant. As a municipality we are growing and I am excited to see a continued interest in developers wanting to bring commercial and industrial infrastructure to our municipality. The 2021 census has shown a growth in the RM of Ste Anne from 2016-2021 to be 11.6% and contributing to that increase was a growth of 4.3% in the LUD of Richer itself. This is great compared to the national average of 5.2% and the provincial average of 3.1%. It is appearing statistically that Richer and the RM of Ste Anne is an appealing place to live. In my personal opinion I think the stats back-up that… it is in fact a great place to live! In my opinion our community and our local commu-

nity groups have made this an area that people want to call home. It warms my heart to see our community thrive and come together over the years and I’m proud to see our growth surpass expectations. Brent Wery Ward 3 Councilor, RM of Ste Anne LUD of Richer Committee

of a point-of-sale system is a valuable new asset to accept donations on site, payments for walk up tours by interested visitors and a key tool for the new gift shop currently under development. New programs planned for the 2022 season, and going forward, require the use of a projector and a sound system with Bluetooth speakers for key speaking events and will also be included as an amenity available for museum rentals. From The Pastor’s Desk...

What Are We To Be By Pastor Ben Funk

Wow, March is already gone. Now we are about to enter April, a month of anticipation for spring. The budding of leaves on the trees, shrubbery begins to show signs of life. People are beginning to cruse the Green Houses looking for new ideas for the flower garden and sorts. Still others are itching to take out of storage their summer vehicles, I am one. Can’t watch TV anymore, unless you enjoy being entertained with negative content. We just don’t watch much news anymore. I have heard those words again and again over the last few months. Personally, I may listen to the news long enough to get what I believe I need to know, and then we often turn to engaging in praise and worship music! Then you might be prone to ask; “What is a person to do”? Maybe the better question might be, what are we to be, given the day in which we live? In 2 Timothy The Apostle Paul gave his child in the faith, Timothy, some warnings. In chapter 3 Paul enumerated the difficult times that will come “in the last days.” Then in verses 14

through 17 of chapter 3 Paul, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, wrote the following: “You however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them.” What are we to be in these difficult times? We must be people who “continue in the things we have learned and become convinced of.” Our tool is the inspired Word of God that is able to equip us “for every good work.” That is who we are to be, and that will keep us strong and able to “stand firm.” Be encouraged my friends. We at Richer Fellowship have been wondering how we could utilize our facility for a youth hang out place a day or two per week. We are interested in input from parents and youth in the community. Visit us on our Facebook Page or send us an email to richerchurch@ gmail.com or call the church and leave a message. We would love to meet for a brainstorming session and see where that leads. We invite you to join us on our LiveStream worship service every Sunday at 10:30am or watch any time on YouTube.

Good Friday Walk and Pray with the Cross Join the Enfant-Jesus Heritage Site Committee for their annual prayer walk on Good Friday, April 15. Everyone is welcome to meet at the entrance to the Dawson Trail Park at 10:45 am to join in. The walk will travel to the historical church site where coffee and snacks will be served. The committee would like to remind eveyone to ensure they are dressed for the weather.
