Return The Favour
By Pastor Ben Funk
The content of this article is different than what I usually write. This story is fascinating fiction and filled with some intrigue and mystery. Let’s say, a Forest Ranger had retired from the forestry. He chose to retire in the small com-
munity that was surrounded by the forest that he had managed most of his adult life. It could be Sandilands, Woodridge, or some other small community. One day he decided to wonder off into the forest and find some blue berries and saskatoons for a pie he was hungry for. He brought along a two gallon basket to receive the berries into. He becomes lost in his environment as he is picking berries, and forgets where he is. All-of-a-sudden he hears the
growl of a large animal, it sounded like a bear. He reaches for his riffle that he had brought along (for just in case) and discharges a shot into the air as a warning. As he keeps walking he becomes aware it is not a bear but a tiger. He cautiously moves closer, he surveys the surroundings, he realized the tiger’s little cub is entangled in something, from which it is unable to free itself. As he approaches the young tiger, the mother tiger is watching as he
moves closer to the cub. She allows him to move in and free the cub. On his return to his home he begins to sense that something is following him out of the forest. He turns around and sees the tiger is following him as if to say thank you and to guide him home. Some time later his highly pregnant daughter and son-inlaw come out for a visit. The two of them decide to go for a walk, to the daughter’s favourite place as she was growing up. This required walking across a tall old bridge. Over the years the bridge has become fairly rotten, so they need to watch where they stepped to avoid breaking through. They underestimated the one section and they both fall through. Later that day a tiger makes its way into town. Several men become aware of what is developing. They reach for their riffles and fire into the air. The tiger is undeterred. The Forest Ranger takes a closer look and sees that the tigers nose seems to be blood stained. The tiger comes closer to the Ranger and sets to the ground a little baby. The Ranger immediately becomes aware that his daughter is in trouble. The community takes care of the baby and the Ranger follows the tiger into the forest who leads him to the scene where his daughter is located. As a result of that fall his daughter had given birth to her child. The tiger picked up the child and brought it to the Ranger. His daughter survived the fall, but his son-in-law had succumbed to his injuries. The tiger had not forgotten the Ranger, where he lived and what he had done for the mother tiger. She remembered he had freed her cub, she returned the favour to the Ranger. The moral of the story is: Doing something good for someone else is never forgotten, even across species. Have you done something good for someone lately? Become aware of your surroundings, if we see a need lets meet it with joy. Jesus invites you to come and enter into relationship with Him. Richer Fellowship Church invites you to come and worship with us each Sunday at 10:30 am. Live in person, live on YouTube, Live on 101.9FM. Be blessed in Jesus.

The museum windows and stucco received a complete face lift. We thank Norm Bremaud and Bert Reimer for a job well done. A Positive Outlook for the RM of Ste Anne In recent weeks, The Bank of Canada announced its 4th interest rate increase since March with this most recent increase being a full 1%, or 100 basis points. This decision was made in hopes of tackling the nations whopping 8% inflation rate and an attempt is being made to pull inflation down closer to the nations 2% target rate. What does this mean for Richer and the RM of Ste Anne? We can’t be too sure yet but the outlook seems positive. I have had some conversations with local real estate experts to learn more about what this can mean for

the value of what is likely many of our resident’s biggest asset, their homes. I was told that we can likely see a market reduction in competing offers, especially amongst higher priced listings. The market under $300,000 however is expecting to stay consistent. Real Estate is expected to hold its value and from my observations it seems like we are thriving still with demand in the area. Recent listings may have not sold within a few days with bidding wars like not too long ago, but when houses do reach the market, they still seem to be ending up with a one more summer tournament on August 9th, and everyone is welcome! Entry fee is $5, no partner required, snacks and coffee are always free and we all have fun! Cash prizes for our winners and a 50/50 for more fun. Starting in September, we will be meeting every two weeks, and I’ll let you all know when we are starting. Hope to see you all!

sold sign still in a short span of time. The amount of “stock” on the market seems low compared to other areas, yet we are still seeing the demand for development through building permits. in the month of June, the RM of Ste Anne processed over $4 million in value of building permits and we are currently sitting at over $9 Million in increased value for 2022. We seem to be on target of reaching the over $14 Million in new value in the RM that we saw last year. People are building and house listing are being snatched up quickly in the municipality. It certainly appears there is a demand to both make the RM of Ste Anne home and also to remain living here. This is a recipe for protecting the value of our homes. The key
focus moving forwards must be to keep this reality alive. There is still a lot of work to do and areas the RM of Ste Anne needs to improve on. We can’t slow down. in recent years we have seen significant improvements to recreation, community support and various infrastructure. As mentioned before in my articles, the RM is still lacking in economic development, sewer systems and transportation to other key area’s such as Winnipeg. There are models that exist to tackle these items without a big hit to the rate payer. I am always happy to have conversations on how this could look and how it can work. Steps have been taken to move forward and the future continues to look bright in the municipality. I encourage everyone to have conversations and reach out to discuss what can make this municipality even better! I wish everyone a wonderful the rest of the summer and I hope you all enjoy it with the piece of mind that the RM of Ste Anne is a safe place to invest!
