Richer Rodeo to Celebrate 10 Years
The annual Richer Rodeo will take place from August 9 to 11 at the Dawson Trail Park in Richer.
“We’ve grow this community event every year and this year we are pulling out all the stops to make sure guests have a great
experience,” said Dan Guetre, a member of the rodeo committee since its inception in 2013. “We are extremely proud that we have kept the ticket prices unchanged for the past few years to ensure it was affordable for families.”
Guetre added that the rodeo is now recognized as one of the largest events in the province.
“Growth has come from many areas,” explained Guetre. “The uniqueness of combining a rodeo with a country fair has been a successful formula. Our volunteer base is always loyal and always growing. We work with our sponsors to give them value and to encourage them to be interactive with the spectators. And the
communities that surround Richer, they have embraced the event and added this to their list of annual pilgrimages.”
This year’s rodeo will feature many of the popular attractions such as the Friday evening giant social, the Saturday live music social, the family fun zone, an expanded food court, reptiles, ponies, fun zone, magic, busking stage with live entertainment, a giant trade show plus some new features such as teen joisting!

Community Garden in Richer:
Connect, Learn, and Grow
By Trish Sinanan Growzone3.ca
August is a bountiful month for gardeners, offering a chance to relish the fruits of our labor. Amidst harvesting, preserving, weeding, and deadheading, we find moments to simply appreciate the garden and marvel at the wonders that can emerge from a single seed. Although most of the lettuce has bolted and turned bitter, there’s still time to plant replacements, also kale, radishes, and other fastmaturing crops. Look for seeds that mature in 45 days or less.
We are thrilled to announce the beginning of a new community garden in Richer. This green space is dedicated to fostering community spirit, promoting sustainability, and growing fresh, healthy produce right in our neighborhood! Inspired by the feedback from both experienced and novice gardeners at our spring plant booth, we believe this garden will be a fantastic way to connect gardeners of all levels.
A community garden provides an opportunity to learn from each other and to engage with nature. With rising costs, many are seeking ways to increase food sustainability while reducing their grocery bills.
There are many ways to get involved, including assisting with garden construction, contributing to planning, maintaining the garden, and participating in workshops.
We invite everyone, regardless of gardening experience, to join us in this exciting project where we can grow together.
