JACKPOT STARTS AT $1,000!
Community Set to Host Chase the Ace Game The Richer Community Club (RCC) is kicking off its Manitoba Lottery & Gaming Authority approved Chase the Ace with a jackpot set to begin at $1,000! Tickets are only $1 each and are sold between 5:15 pm and 7:45 pm during the Saturday draw dates. “50 percent of the sales of tickets on Saturdays are added to the following week’s pot and if it is not won, the pot will continue to grow,” says Dan Guetre, a spokesperson with the RCC. “But, every draw date someone is going to win something even if it’s not the pot.” Ten percent of the sales of tickets for that day are given out as a consolation prize to the winning ticket holder if the card they choose is not the Ace of Spades. The Jokers are also in the deck and if the ticket holder pulls one of them, the consolation prize doubles. “The idea though is to pick the Ace of Spades,” says Guetre. “The person who does that, wins the entire Jackpot! The consolation prize is ok, but the Jackpot is
the goal.” Every Saturday, with the exception of December 24 and December 31, the event held at the Richer Inn, will see the pot increase and the odds improve as the previously chosen cards are removed from the deck and it gets smaller. Bud and Bud Light have even provided a door prize for the draws ranging from Budweiser beer glasses to Jets Jerseys and
even pairs of Jet tickets. There is no purchase necessary as anyone who shows up during the event can request a ballot for the door prize. The entire community club is excited to be hosting the event as they have heard of some small Jackpots get up to the $20,00030,000 and even have read the articles of some jackpots reaching $700,000 or more when the deck gets to less than 20 cards
left and the Ace of Spaces has eluded the ticket winners. Even consolation prizes during the final weeks have been in excess of $10,000. Draws in December take place on the 3rd, 10th and 17th. Starting in January, until the Ace of Spades is drawn, the draw will take place every Saturday. Funds raised will go towards Richer Dawson Trail Park improvements.
Daycare Visits Firehall The Richer Daycare’s preschool children ages 21 months to 5 years old, took a field trip to the Richer Fire Department. Fire Chief Paul Saindon gave the excited children a tour of the fire station, the equipment, and each child had the opportunity to check out the inside the fire truck. They learnt about what to do during a fire, what type of clothing a firefighter wears when they are working, and saw some the types of equipment they use. Each child who attended received a safety info kit. Submitted by Richer Daycare
Community Places Project Complete By Sarah Belisle
The Richer Community Club received approval for a grant of up to $5000 from the Manitoba Community Places Program in the spring of 2015 to assist in a proposed playground project. The project had to total over $10,000 in order to be awarded. We started this phase of the playground this spring and the final components were placed on November 22nd. The project concept had natural playground components and included: - installing a digger area with pea gravel and sandbox which were surrounded by cedar posts at different heights; - removing the topsoil around the existing swing set and climbing structure and filling with a woodchip base; - installing tractor tires and boulders for climbing on; - surrounding the area with a 6x6 border; - 3 fires pits and concrete bases; - 2 heavy duty Barkman concrete waste containers With the help of material donated by Heavenly Pines Wood Inc. (cedar logs), Lerial Enterprises (woodchips), Cassman Construction (boulders and placement), and the many volunteers who donated their time, equipment and other resources we were able to complete the project with most of our portion being “in kind. The plan is to take a break from working on the playground over
the next year and try to raise enough money for another project. A couple ideas are a patio among the playground and a zip line. The calendars we sell every year help us raise money towards this. Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a reality and all the community who has supported it and provided such positive feedback.
From the Pastors’ Desk By Pastors Ben and Marjorie Funk
It is Christmas time again. The question I would like to pose: what does Christmas mean to you in your world? Yes, we all
have the traditional stuff and activity. In a general sense it can have varied meanings. But what does it mean to you? In a Christian sense it is about the finite coming among the infinite. It is
about the divine coming among the carnal. At a personal level, how does that relate to you? I see potential here of the divine making himself resident, not only among us, but also creating intimately opportunity to be in us. This in us has huge implications.
In us, has the implication of introducing us into a whole new world. Away from self and turning to the divine. God through Jesus, coming among us, is inviting each of us to enter into a personal relationship with Him, redeeming us from the sin that separates us from God. What does Christmas mean? Jesus the Christ bringing life both for here and eternity. I would like to suggest: make Jesus part of your reason for Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone.

In the months of October and November, leaders of the Richer Fireside Youth did lessons from a biblical perspective on boy-girl friendships versus committing to a relationship. This led to an open discussion and kids felt comfortable sharing their feelings on dating in high school, teenage pregnancy and abortion. On Nov. 4 the Youth held their second annual Pizza Night at the Richer School. Thank you to Kim from the Richer Inn, and to everyone who brought snacks to enjoy. In the month of December we will meet on Friday Dec. 16 (Christmas Party) from 7-9 pm in the Richer School gym. All Youth ages 12-17 welcome.
