From The Pastor’s Desk Come and See
By Pastor Ben Funk We are beginning to see more frequently the appearance of colourful lights in people’s yards. We can rightfully assume that we are approaching a significant cheery season. As you read this you may be reminded about the Gospel stories of Jesus. You see, throughout the Gospel stories of Jesus there is a reoccurring theme of invitation to “come and see.” Jesus comments to people like Matthew, John, Phillip, and even the Woman at the Well, to “come and see” for yourselves the gift that only God can give through Jesus Christ. God has provided a unique gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and we are invited into this great gift of grace. The Christmas season is a time to “come and see.” As the shepherds and wise men, so long ago, were drawn to Bethlehem, likewise, we are drawn back to that place to understand who Jesus is and why He came. I am sure that during this season leading up to Christmas, there will be several opportunities for you to get behind the scenes and dig deeper into the Christmas narratives. It is my hope that this season of Christmas will provide a time for you to be curious as you “come and see.” I would love for you to dig a little deeper into your faith, search a little wider for the coming Saviour, and to know a little more fully of God’s promises and provisions that is freely offered through Jesus Christ. “Come and see …” I would like to invite each of you to Richer Fellowship and participate in the “come and see” stories. Ben Funk is Pastor of the Richer Fellowship Church.

Richer Fireside Youth Bridging the Gap
In spending time with the Youth in Richer for the past 8 years I have made a few observations. Peer pressure has not changed over the years but a new twist has happened. In 2017 it’s not about Youth wanting to follow the same clothing trends as their peers, it’s now about teens wanting to be on the same playing field as their parents. Generally speaking, Youth want adult privileges like having a phone to text their friends or follow social media yet they cannot pay for it and inadvertently enables them to tune out parents. Kids are smart but parents need to be smarter and find ways to keep communication lines open. Maybe we can help bridge the gap in your home by spending time with your Youth. In December we look forward to celebrating Christmas! Youth 12-17 will meet at the Richer School gym from 7-9 pm on Friday Dec. 1 and on Friday Dec.15 for our Youth Christmas party. For more info please call Michelle at 204 424-5216 or email richerfiresideyouth@gmail.com.
