Let’s Light It Up!
WIN
With Holiday Decor! Just a reminder that the Annual Christmas Décor Contest, hosted by the LUD of Richer, is now underway. The contest is open to all properties within the LUD boundaries and “judges” will be driving around to take a look at people’s yards and home exteriors to come up with the list of winners. Judging will take place between December 21 to 27, allowing people lots of time to get creative. Lots of prizes available and they will be awarded in early January.

Hiring a bucket truck helped this home owner reach up high with their Christmas lights. Alphonse Pilon with local company AC/DC Utilities was up to the challenge.

The Dawson Trail Museum is now closed for the winter season. We would like to send you our sincere thanks for your support during this pandemic year. The museum committee took this opportunity to do the electrical upgrade along with restoring and painting the walls and the ceiling of the museum. Having a summer student we were able to set up a library on wheels filled with information about weddings, families, events, schools, church, priests, nuns, Dawson Road and photos of all our renovations and fund raisers. If you have any information you would like to share with us or give us for safe keeping please do not hesitate to call me at 204- 4229369. Looking forward to seeing you next Spring. We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

From The Pastor’s Desk...
He Will Teach Us By Pastor Ben Funk Seasons come, seasons go. But, the season of Christmas is a whole other story. Actually it is much more than a story. It is a reflection to an event in time and history that has not only meaning but also significance. Meaning, in that there is invasion into time and into history that caused interference into a popular narrative that had difficulty receiving and accepting its intrusion. Meaning, in that humanity needed redemption from an infliction that needed to be addressed. No one in the human sphere had the capacity to address or alleviate from continued infliction on humans. Meaning, in that there was a need to effect a civilization that had need for joy and celebration and that the common narrative was less than willing to let live and have influence. You see, the redeemer was not interested in complying with the narrative, He was interested in relieving humanity of an affliction that had only been covered up to that point in history. Meaning, in that He will teach humanity a certain significance to life and in life that will introduce a way of life that was all but foreign, and that only to a few. But there was a certain expectation in the few that was going to be satisfied in a hope fulfilled. There was an expectation from the few or in the few that a Messiah would one day come among them that would bring redemption from the power and influence of sin. This Messiah that would be named Jesus would finally accomplish what Genesis 3 had instructed them in for so many years. There was an enemy that needed to be disempowered (Lucifer, Satan, The Devil) who had inflicted such torment on humanity for so long. This Jesus would teach them about His ways that would bring hope and joy and celebration. This joy was heard celebrated by the angels to the shepherds who were watching so faithfully their flocks one night. 700 plus years earlier the prophet Micah writes: “He will teach us about His ways so we may walk in His paths.” (4:2) And so Jesus did, He taught them way back in antiquity and He continues to teach us today about His ways so that we may walk in His paths. Humanity is in dire need today for a joy and celebration that the devil is robbing humanity of. As we celebrate Christmas, let’s remind ourselves and each other that the joy we celebrate through the gifts and giving has its origin in Jesus the Christ. This Jesus came to earth to become akin with us and show us and teach His offer for freedom from sin that prior to Him had power over us. Merry Christmas to each and all from Richer Fellowship Church.
