Crib News

Our regular bi-weekly crib tournament was Tuesday, the 8th of November, with a super turnout of 27 players as we welcomed several newcomers! It was a great evening, par ticularly for me because, for the first time ever, I came in first! What a shock! So our winners were me (Claire Logan) in first place, Norm Burnell in second and Dan Ross in third. Chrystal Prymac-Parisian (one of our new players) took the dimes for fourth place and the Booby prize went to Dianne Decosse. Art Bergman won the 50/50.

Then at our next tournament on Tuesday, November 22nd, our turnout was pretty small at only18 players! It was a great evening though and everyone

had a lot of fun! Our winners were, Al Hupe in first place (his first time joining us), Leo Saltel in second and Lucie Richard in third. Art Bergmann took the dimes for fourth place and the Booby prize went to Jim McK erchar. Ray Burnell took the 50/50. Congratulations to all our winners! I’m not mention ing any names but one pair of players only scored 46 points in one of their games, a record low score. Sorry fellas!

Our next tournament will be Tuesday, December 6th at the Young at Hearts hall, at 7 pm. Entry fee is just $5, no partner required and snacks and coffee are always free. Everyone is wel come so come on out and join us for a social evening of crib and good fun!

Museum Display Nearing Completion

This is the fruit of a collaboration between the Dawson Trail Mu seum and Dawson Trail Arts and Heritage Tour, with special thanks for the Red River Cart donation by the Richer Community Club, and funding support from the Province of Manitoba, as well as Canadian Heritage.

It Was A Plan

December, a month of frenzy and bright lights. There are many homes who present a variety of artistic expressions in the way the homes are decorated. The decorations expressing how the artist interprets the message of the season. The message of Christmas season has within it joy, peace, and family. It is how Christmas is celebrated globally yet the message of Christmas is all but missing. The message of Christmas lauds to us that God is so good! Please let me say it again? God is so good! In reality, we have so much to be thankful for. As the old hymn writer has wrote, “Count your many blessings, see what God has done!” In the Bible we read that, every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes from the Father of lights. All of our everyday gifts: family, friends, modern technology, modern medicine, education, jobs, careers, finances, etc. all of it, truthfully, comes from God. For that reason alone, we are instructed to be thankful, to have a heart of generos ity. Even more so, we are to be eternally grateful. The giving of gifts to one another is an expression of God’s generosity in giving life to us, freeing us from the grip of eternal death. For, out of all God’s wonderful gifts, He gave us His Son, Jesus. Jesus came into the world, to become akin with us to relate to us experientially, what it is like to be human in a challenging world. He was the very image of God in human form, to be humanity’s Redeemer and Deliverer. The incarnate Jesus, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born through the virgin Mary, was God’s plan of salvation. It was a plan for sinful humanity, it was a plan for every man, woman, and child. It was the perfect plan, the perfect gift. Jesus was the gift that only God could provide. That is why I just want to jump with joy and say, “Thank You, Father for giving us Your Son!” May you enjoy the celebration of Christmas with Jesus as the center-piece in that celebration.

Protect Our Park from Vandals

The Richer Community Club and the Richer Recreation Com mittee along with many volun teers and the support of our lo cal businesses are always proud to create a venue where we can visit casually and at special events created.

For the most part, we have seen the deep respect of the commu nity for all the hard work we do all year long.

This picture shows the announc er’s booth after it was damaged a few weeks ago.

Incidents, like this recent van dalism, only hurts our commu nity. The costs of repair and the volunteer hours to fix this comes out of what we all have worked

hard to raise. While this is a rare occurrence, it still shows that one small act can be a setback.

Anyone with information can reach out to us through a private message. If those responsible would like to step forward, we can put you to work repairing the damage.

Local Vendors Create Colourful Last Haul Craft Sale

On Decem ber 3, shop pers were able to check out some local crafts and bak ing to satisfy their Holiday shopping urges.

The ice making crew has been hard at work laying down the ice in the park including the skating trails and the rodeo arena. Watch our Facebook page (Richer Community Club) as we keep everyone updated.
