From The Pastor’s Desk...

Light Of Presence By Pastor Ben Funk I hope each of you is having a wonderful winter. I am thinking we really have nothing to complain about as far as temperatures are concerned. I have enjoyed the milder temperatures for reason that may be to numerous to mention. I will mention one, the heating bills are reflecting the warmness. For those of you that enjoy the outdoors this has complimented you as you get on the hiking trails, or those who enjoy the motorized off road vehicles. I am sure most of you are using the outdoors as a coping mechanism in this present darkness we find ourselves in. It can be easy for us to be dulled in our thinking by the dark forces of the world in which we presently find ourselves. None of us are immune, all of us have found life difficult and challenging. You see, when we find ourselves in a continuous onslaught of wickedness coming against us it can dull our senses, of compassion, faith, love, and hope. We are not the first civilization that has experienced this type of threat on our civil liberties. It is important not to loose our appetites and our thirst for God. We are reminded by the Apostle Paul that there is hope. As believers in God Paul reminds his readers that we are not children of the night. We are children of the light and are called to walk in the light of His presence each day. We are presence in our circle of influence. The question is, are we presence of night or light. If our presence is light, then we bring hope and a certain soberness that refuses to be numbed by our present culture or to become drunk by the immediate pleasures offered by the world. For believers, he reminds his readers of the reality of the battle. We are in a battle for the hearts and minds of people, and we need to use weapons designed to fight this type of spiritual battle. Using the armor listed in Ephesians 6:10-18, Paul highlights two key pieces. The breastplate is to guard the heart of the soldier. Paul calls this faith and love. When in the battles of life, we must never forget that our standing before God is not on the basis of what we can do, but by what He has already done for us through Jesus. We must also have a heart that is regularly experiencing the love of the Father. The helmet is to protect the head. A mind filled with the hope of salvation meditates on the certainty of His return. When our heart is settled in the certainty of our standing before a Holy God and secure in His love, and when our mind is focused upon the salvation that is in Jesus Christ alone and His return, we can continue on in the journey. Our security is in Jesus. Our love relationship with Him as the lover of our souls, and the certainty of our salvation is a powerful defense against this present darkness. Faith, hope, and love are three essentials to a life of joy and victory. Be encouraged. We at Richer Fellowship Church pray for our community regularly. You are invited to join us every Sunday at 10:30 am Live on YouTube. We are also on 87.9FM locally at that same time as a drive in worship.
