What it takes to build a community...

A Message from the President of the Richer Community Club Hello Everyone: On behalf of the Richer Community Club I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope this coming year will bring with it, renewed enthusiasm. We have had a good run of activities and events for a number of years in our community. What with Le Rendezvous, Canada Day, Richer Rodeo (which we haven’t had for 2 years now unfortunately), and Christmas in the Park, along with developing and maintaining the park, we have been busy. This year, the Le Rendezvous festivities turned out to be very successful weekend. The 2021 Canada Day Celebration ended up being a success again even though we changed a bit of the format to accommodate Provincial Health Orders. We were handing

out hotdogs, popcorn, drinks and gift bags to everyone that wanted one. Many visitors from outside our community were asking how much it was and when we explained to them it was free compliments of our community, they couldn’t believe it. Our Christmas in the Park turned out way better than we had anticipated. We discovered people came in from everywhere... from neighboring communities and as from away as Winkler, St Malo, etc. A common theme when we talk to people is questions on how we can put on these events without charging any money for it. Well, in a nutshell, the answer is one word… dedication. We have a great group of people who sit on our board of directors, volunteers who are always willing to help, fellow community service groups that jump in when needed and bring their ideas

to the table and funds (thanks to Dan Guetre for his dedication for filling out grant applications and securing sponsors to bring our ideas from paper to reality). For all of these events to take place we need a committee of

dedicated individuals that are willing to put in the effort with some volunteer time. WE NEED YOUR HELP! If the residents of Richer and surrounding area want the Richer Community Club to keep going at this pace, we need people to step up to the plate and get involved. We have a great community here in Richer. I hope that we can keep the spirit going and growing with your help. Our AGM is approaching fast this year. It will be on Wednesday, April 13. There is one available position that we need to fill on the executive board (Treasurer) along with room for some directors positions. I would like to thank all of our committee members. A great Thank You for all that you do for your community. Sincerely yours, Mark Lanouette President, RCC

Lighting Up the Rodeo Arena

The Richer Dawson Trail Park Rodeo Arena has freshly installed LED stadium lighting that will operate until 1 am every day. This was completed recently to make the area more attractive for ice skating this winter and will also make the rodeo arena stand out when Photo by Dan Guetre events are hosted this summer.

Kids, and even some brave adults, are taking to the toboggan hill at the Dawson Trail Park. As one mom put it, “it is lots of fun for the kids and getting that vitamin D helps keep them healthy.” There were a few rosy cheeks amongst the kids but no one seemed to Photo by Dan Guetre want to go home.
