Chase the Ace A Win for Community in More Ways Than One Since the Richer Community Club started the weekly RCC Chase the Ace back in 2017, more than $336,000 has been won by ticket holders. While the dedicated group of volunteers constantly handing out a weekly consolation prize and the big Jackpots, in the background, they have also raised over $200,000 for the Dawson Trail Park development. The money raised has been instrumental

in completing many of the capital projects in the park, much of it used to leverage additional funds through grants and donations. To put it in perspective, the value of the community park in Richer has gone from just over $300,000 15 years ago to almost $1 million today creating a space where families from near and far visit and enjoy the amenities. The RCC CTA committee thank all those who are buying the tickets, along with thanking the volunteers over the years who donate their time to help run the event. Additionally, thanks to the Richer Inn for allowing us to use their premises.

award winning Richer Rough Stock Rodeo which is celebrating 10 years. Mark Lanouette Jr, an active committee member of the Richer Rodeo Committee was key to creating the Richer High School Rodeo Committee and hosting the two previous sanctioned high school competitions. This
year, along with his committee, he was able to write and submit a successful bid for the finals which will include a Prom event, awards banquet, and of course, the top high school rodeo athletes competing for the coveted year end buckles and awards. The 3-day event will run from June 7-9, 2024. Spectators will be welcomed.

On Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, Richer Crib Club held their first regular tournament of 2024. Mimi Smith was the big winner, with Luc Lanouette coming in second and Deanna Marriott bringing up third. Laurel Hager took the dimes for 4th place in and Rene Decosse got the Booby prize. There were 2 draws for the 50/50 and those winners were Dianne Decosse and Wally Adair. We met again on January 16th and we had a great turnout! Our winner of the evening was Helen Sabot, with Norm Burnell coming in second and Denise Dyck bringing in third place. Roger Chenier took the dimes for fourth place, and Rene Decosse got the Booby prize. Roger Chenier also won the 50/50. On January 30th we had our regular biweekly tournament and we had almost a full house! Winning the evening was Helen Sabot who was one point away from a perfect game. Coming in second was Rick Betts, and Cathy Searle won third place. Norm Burnell got the dimes for fourth place and Leo Saltel got the Booby prize. We had two draws for the 50/50 and these were won by Leo Saltel and Gail Fraser. Congratulations to all our January winners! Our next tournament will be Tuesday, February 13th at 7 pm at the Young at Hearts hall. We have a great time with lots of laughs, free snacks and coffee, and entry fee is only $5 so if you want a fun night out, feel free to join us!

Deep Woods Cabin By Pastor Ben Funk
The outdoorsy type of people enjoy wondering deep into the woods, maybe even camping in the outback. Wondering along the trails, or making their own trails, enjoying their surroundings and the fresh country air. Their soul being soothed by the multiple sounds of the birds and other species singing their own tune and tone. Immersing themselves in nature that provided serenity and endless ventures. As you enjoy the wonderful nature, to your surprise you stumble upon a cabin that appears to have been abandoned a long time ago. First you might be met by surprise, and maybe by delight. You ask yourself the question; who does the cabin belong to and how long has it been sitting here abandoned. By its exterior appearance you may conclude that it has been a while. But, again you ask yourself, who would have owned it, and why did no one claim it as a deep woods get away. Now curiosity gets the best of you. Your prying eyes lead you to a window, you look inside, and notice something quite unique. You move around the cabin and find the exterior door that leads into the cabin. As you enter you notice there is a tree that has grown right through the floor and up through the ceiling and the roof. You say to yourself, wait just a minute. This building has been here many years, long enough to grow a tree with an 18 trunk through it. You may ask yourself, I wonder if I could claim this cabin and make it my own? You are aware that it would take a significant amount of time and effort and expense. But it would be yours.
Mother Nature Pauses Ice Skating in Park While the unseasonable warmer weather this winter has created an opportunity for more people to spend time outside, it has not been beneficial to the ice rink in the Premier Tech Multiplex. Until the weather turns and temperatures drop, the Richer Community Club made the decision to close the facility. Even when the weather starts to dip below freezing, according to the ice making crew, it will take some time to build up the layer of ice again. It goes the same in our lives. We live life in the private, no one knows who we are and what we are about. Once the cover has been pulled off, a certain radiance is released and others become aware of who we are and what we are about. The light that is there draws others in to the light and that light is Jesus. That which has been growing on the inside is like that tree in the cabin, it was looking for light and found it, once it found its way through the ceiling and the roof. Pulling the cover and removing the resistance like the ceiling and the roof the truth about it comes through for all to see. Cheers.
