Mockingjay Archers Membership Explosion
The Richer pole archery club, Mockingjay Archers, saw their membership almost double this spring. Last year there were 18 members and this year there are 34! This was an unexpected but welcome increase for the club that shoots in the Richer Dawson Trail Park every Thursday evening. It took a little adjustment to get coordinated for the larger group of shooters each evening. Experienced members stepped in to teach the new members the safety guidelines, rules of shooting and proper shooting techniques and etiquette. The club is looking forward to a great year of shooting.

Crib Club News
The first summer tournament of the Richer Crib Club was held on May 9 at the Young at Heart hall, with a small turnout of only 13 members. However, we still had some great games and a lot of fun. We had a tie for first place, between Melody Olenick and Don Dmitruk while Gayle Carriere brought up third place, and Tracy Bell came in fourth. Dennis Brown got the booby prize, and Wally Adair won the 50/50. Congratulations to you all. Our next summer tournament will be on Tuesday, June 13 at 7 pm and we are hoping for a better turnout then, so mark your calendars everyone!
From The Pastor’s Desk Developing the Whole Person
By Ben Funk We are not ever “done” growing and developing as a person. We never reach a point where we cannot learn more about us and who we are as a person. There are three parts to every person: physical, emotional, and spiritual. The question is, which one of those three needs developing the most. All three are in need of being taken care of. At Richer Fellowship we have the ability to help with at least two of them: emotional and spiritual. Each of us has a need to grow stronger in order to be better citizens of our community and better neighbours to those around us. Now, as a Fellowship we offer course studies that particularly target developing the emotional part of our person. Such as “Cognitive Restructuring” i.e. changing the way we think about ourselves and about life. We also have the training to offer spiritual development that impacts how the other two behave. The spiritual element that is in need of development can only be empowered by God. Our obligation remains that we must be open to this God to influence our development. The mission of Richer Fellowship is to be an impactful part in the community and making disciples of Jesus the Christ. There are resources available; both in literature and persons. We invite you to join us each Sunday morning for worship and or Wednesday evening for interactive study. Ben Funk is Pastor of the Richer Fellowship Church.

Fireside Youth
Sometimes leaders have to push Youth to understand their full potential. Teaching kids to not get weighed down in life but to look ahead to the goal of “finishing strong” is our lesson focus in May and June. It was a privilege to be invited by a Youth family to attend the Manitoba Foster Family Network, “Fostering Connections” conference at the Heritage Village Museum. Guest speakers were not only educators but foster parents themselves, sharing ways to better understand children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FASD). Art therapy for example, helps children with FASD enhance self-expression and the creative process within themselves. Teaching them about their diagnosis will help them be their own “emotional regulators” in reducing stress and increasing wellbeing. Knowing the latter, not only helps parents understand their FASD child better but equips us as Youth leaders to come alongside Youth that have FASD. Youth will meet on Friday, June 9 and Friday, June 23 from 7 – 9 pm at the Richer School gym. There is no cost but parents must register their Youth.
