WINTERFEST 2017
By Sarah Belisle The sun was shining again for another well attended Winterfest collaboratively hosted by the Richer Daycare and Richer Community Club for its 8th consecutive year. Special guests Shrek and Princess Fiona interacted with the kids, along with face painting, coin scramble, candy toss, hills to play on, sleigh rides, music and a big bon fire to gather around. The skating rink ice didn’t hold out to the strong sun but kids were still able to play around on it. There were also free refreshments and hot dogs which you could have barbecued or roast
your own over the fire. Thank you to all the volunteers who put in so much time and effort for this event. Many hours were spent trying to flood the rink for the event and it took extra effort to bring the sleighs in for the rides this year due to so much of the snow melted in previous weeks. The horses worked hard pulling the sleighs through the frozen crusted snow - and everyone was so thankful for the many rides.
The entire event, activities and food were FREE and was made possible thanks to the many donations some including Caisse Financial Group, Weston Bakery, One One Consultants Inc, Maple Leaf Foods as well as the donated bales, sleigh rides and music.
