Kids Flock to Soccer Sainte Anne Soccer Sainte Anne is up and running for another season and the number of kids registered for 2017 has grown tremendously. “Soccer Sainte Anne is in a growth year, last year we had 160 kids, this year over 230,” said Dave Nelson, president of Soccer Sainte Anne. “We have players from Ste. Anne, Ross, Ste. Genevieve, and Richer. I would say 70% of our players are from outside Ste. Anne, I think we have around 40 kids just from the Richer area alone,” he continued. “We admit we are running into some growing pains with the amount of equipment needed for all of these players, specifically goals. With so many kids we knew we needed to buy more goals but when we started doing pricing we found that having to purchase 20 new premade goal frames was not something we could afford. So we started to look at building them.
We called out to our parents and community for wholesale pricing but even with wholesale pricing it was looking like we might need to build some this season and the remainder next season, which wasn’t ideal.” “Then unexpectedly on April 19 I received the most amazing call from A & P Plumbing and Heating in Selkirk, saying they would donate all of the pipe, fittings and glue needed to build all 20 of our goals! It’s such a great gesture and we can’t thank them enough for it.” “We truly live in an amazing community with great people. There are number of companies who have helped us out this year already and the season hasn’t even started. Tim Horton’s Timbits, T & T properties, the Dawson Trail Dispatch and now A &P. Businesses like these are how we are able to grow and improve
our program and we greatly appreciate all that they do for us.”
Thank You! A sincere thank you to each and everyone who participated in the Walk with the Cross as well as the Way of the Cross. Even though the weather was not cooperating in the early morning we managed to have beautiful weather for the walk.

By Pastor Ben Funk Greetings from our wonderful Richer Fellowship Church family. Many people in our world struggle with anxiety. A variety of things make people anxious. There is a text that gives us an actual formula that will help us combat anxiety. The writer encourages us to “abound in hope”. You might say to yourself, “why is hope so important?” You see, hope is directly tied into our faith. Faith, in reality, is the substance of things hoped for. Hope in one sense is optimistic for better times ahead. How can I be optimistic when things seem to appear so bleak? Learning to look beyond the immediate is a difficult task, but it is possible. What can help is joining a Teen Challenge class such as “Concerned Persons Group” to help in empowering yourself to become hopeful again. Here is a suggestion, in Christ, the believer has hope, not only for now but also for eternity. Anxiety is the opposite to hope, and anxiety is intent on robbing us of our hope. My wish to you is, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. The battle is between “Hope and Anxiety”. The formula is: Believing + Joy + Peace x Power of the Holy Spirit = “Abounding In Hope”. God enjoys giving life abundantly. Call us or visit us online at Richer Fellowship Church and invite us to be part of your journey to hope.
Crib Club News Richer Crib Club held their regular season windup on April 4 with a pizza and chicken dinner prior to game play. It was a great evening, and lots of people showed up to eat and play. Norm Burnell surprised everyone when he announced that play for the evening would be Lowball Crib, where everyone tried to get as few points as possible. That’s much more difficult than one would think too! But Rick Betts managed the lowest score for first place, and Claire Logan won second place, while George Dmitruk got third place. The Booby prize for the evening went to Chris Seaman who racked up a perfect 10 game score of 1210 points. Roger Andres won the 50/50. High average for the season went to George Dmitruk, while low average was Gayle Carriere. Congratulations to all our winners! Looking forward to seeing you all on May 9 for the first summer tournament!
