Youth Groups Take in Bowling
Barrel Racing Jackpots Coming to Richer Get ready Richer as a group will be holding sanctioned Manitoba Barrel Racing Associations (MBRA) Jackpots every Wednesday starting May 30 until June 28 at the Dawson Trail Park. Plenty of space on the grandstands to bring the family out watch these riders compete for cash and points on the circuit. Toonie runs start 6:30 pm with Jackpot to follow at 7 pm.

On Friday April 20 Fireside Youth and their families got together with Youth from the Thursday Night Sports group and 30 of us headed to the bowling lane! It was a super fun evening and we ended the night with A&W afterwards! A big “Thank You” to the Richer Community Club for their generous donations to our Youth Fund, making this event possible for the last 3 years! Community Concert: On Friday May 11 at 7pm in the Richer School Gym, all youth of Richer and area are invited to the “Jam Session,” featuring live music from young artists who will jam together, putting on a concert of pure energy! There is no admission. All are welcome! Youth will also meet at the Richer School gym on Friday May 25 from 7-9pm. Museum to Host Artisan Sale Visit the Dawson Trail Museum for their Artisan Sale on Saturday, May 5 from 10 am to 3 pm. Browse tables filled with beautiful yarn crafts, wood working and kid’s crafts. Upcycled treasures, bath and beauty products, and hand crafted jewellery. And don’t forget all kinds of sweet treat including cookies, cakes and jams and other savoury treats.

Local Métis Federation – On Saturday, May 5 from 11 am – 3 pm at the Young at Heart Hall. Local Métis Federation and Regional MMF office will host and process Citizenship, Harvester, card replacement or card renewal. Cost $10. All children must obtain their own membership card. Also processing, Métis Conservation Trust Fund stickers and Big Game Tag. Cost $25. Each Harvester must return used and unused past year’s tags, bring their harvester card with them and complete a questionnaire once at the hall concerning Big game hunt. If you have a relationship with someone who has a life-controlling problem, join us for this nine-week Living Free course. Monday Night Bingos - To raise funds for Stacey Pchajek Memorial Foundation Inc. The foundation provides scholarships, bursaries and prizes to students graduating grades 8 and 12. Paradise Squares Dance club has begun their new season at the Paradise Village Rec. Hall. Modern Square Dancing is fun and a great social activity. Dancing is Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9:30 pm. Crib News
On April 3rd, the Richer Crib Club held its windup of the regular season, with supper of pizza and chicken at 6, followed by regular games at 7. As usual, we had a great time, with lots of food and snacks and
laughter and fun! Melody Olenick won the evening, with Will Linklater coming in second and Dan Ross bringing in third place. We gave a fourth place prize to Dave Haraldson in honour of the windup and
Peter Mawle got the Booby prize. Carole Marleau won the 50/50. Our high average for the season went to Dan Ross, with the low average going to Don Dmitruk. Congratulations everyone! Our summer schedule will be starting on the second Tuesday in May, and will continue monthly
on the second Tuesdays of June, July and August. Summer fees are $10 per person. Regular bi-weekly tournaments will start up again in September. Everyone is welcome, no partner required, snacks and coffee provided. Join us for our summer season! We’d love to see you there!
Bursaries Available from Richer Community Club The Richer Community Club has up to two $250 bursaries available annually for students in the area who care about their community. The “Spirit Awards� bursaries are given to graduates who, in their time at the school, have captured the essence or spirit of what the community of Richer values. They are offered as recognition of commitment to learning while giving to both the smaller school community as well as the larger community outside of school. The following criteria are meant guidelines. The students who earns the awards demonstrates the following qualities and characteristics: - Demonstrates commitment to learning. - Has had a minimum of 65% average in academic courses and/or has shown a growing improvement in academic courses over the year. - Has demonstrated respectful behaviour toward fellow learners, school staff, and to the members of the community at large. - Has contributed positively by was of volunteerism to either the school and/or the larger community. - Demonstrates that she/he plans to continue with some post-secondary education within the next school year. This may be through college, university, or some other form of formal training in a recognized educational institution or environment. Requirements of the candidate interested in this award: - Must be a current student enrolled in school. - Must write a brief autobiography demonstrating how/why he or she qualifies for the award including mention of their volunteerism. - Must provide a brief character reference from an educator currently involved in the student’s school life or volunteer organization of whom they have worked with. - A resident whom identifies themselves as from the community of Richer not limited to the town of Richer. While it is suggested that these
