Richer Digs Into Annual Fall Supper Museum Benefits From Funds Raised
The Dawson Trail Museum committee would like to thank those that attended their Annual Fall Supper of roast beef with all of the trimmings. It was great success! They would also like to extend a huge thank you to the volunteers that made this event possible! All profits raised from the 2016 Fall Supper will go towards the restoration and maintenance of the Dawson Trail Museum.
Park Security Cameras Capture Vandalism
Fall Supper in Richer! Louise Sabot couldn’t be prouder as her daughter and grandson joined her and created three generations of volunteering! Amazing!
The Richer Community Club had security cameras installed in the park this spring in an effort to deter vandalism and capture instances when it occurs. Signs were posted to notify anyone entering or in the park of the cameras. They have already helped the Club capture two instances where theft and vandalism have occurred this year. Once when the tires designated for the playground were stolen (then subsequently returned when the offender was confronted) and more recently when some adolescents attempted to break into the storage buildings and created a mess in the port-a-potties which then had to be cleaned. The Richer Community Club has worked hard in the recent years to add infrastructure to the park for the community to enjoy and will address any vandalism or theft that occurs, including calling the RCMP. If you see or hear of any of this behaviour occurring in the park, please report it to Brent Wery, President at (204) 371-7370.

At a time when the secular world offers ‘twenty seven things to do with cremated remains’, we can easily be overwhelmed by the many different options presented to us when a loved one dies. These influences have led some of our Catholic faithful to disperse or scatter remains, or keep them at home indefinitely.

The Richer Rodeo Committee has again had their flagship event, the Richer Roughstock Rodeo named Rodeo of the Year. “We are proud and honoured to be named Rodeo of the Year for 2016,” said Pat Stolwyk, Rodeo Committee President. “Our volunteers gave it all they had to make sure everyone had a good time. Our sponsors were generous which enabled us to knock it out of the park.” Stolwyk is excited for the 2017 rodeo which will mark the 5th year of a rodeo in Richer. “We are already meeting and discussing next year’s rodeo,” he explained. “As the new year comes, we should have plenty of ideas kicking around that we can pick from… it is going to continue growing and becoming the greatest outdoor show in Manitoba.”
