Richer Rodeo Breaks Attendance Records By Dan Guetre

The mid-August weekend rodeo hosted in Richer saw their attendance rise from the pre-Covid pandemic 2019 event of about 6,000 to almost 10,000 this year. This 80% increase could be a sign that two years of cancellations and lockdowns took a large mental toll and families are excited to see things return to normal. “As we were watching other communities hosting their events again, we noticed that as the summer progressed, so did high attendance at those events,” said Pat Stolwyk, President of the Richer Rough Stock Rodeo Committee. “Thankfully, we were ready for this.” Stolwyk added that volunteers and sponsors stepped up to the plate and ensured a successful

and entertaining weekend. “I can’t say enough about everyone that worked their butts off,” added Stolwyk. “Even though we had a shorter period of time to organize this year’s event, the calls we made were met with ‘where do you need me?’. It shows that

residents in small communities all over rural Manitoba were once again ready to wear their pride on their sleeve.” Stolwyk is proud that his community’s rodeo is growing and now considered to be one of the largest in the province.

From The Pastor’s Desk...

Significance By Pastor Ben Funk

In recent weeks Marjorie and I have been spending some time riding our Harley’s on a variety of Provincial Highways. Each road has unique differences and unique characteristics. The odd time I would notice a lone mature tree standing by themselves. These trees were either in an open field or standing on the side of the road. West of Portage La Prairie there stands a lone tree (it may have been there from ancient of days) in the median of the divided highway. Each of these trees are unique to their own variety. Each of these trees have stood the test of time and all kinds of weather conditions. We

Barrel racing will happen in the Richer Dawson Trail Park over the next few Fridays as the RC 3D Fall Barrel Racing Series has booked the rodeo arena. Additionally there will be a canteen on site if you want to grab some dinner while watching the competitors fly around the barrels. The next few dates are: Fridays on Sept 9, 16, and 23 with the finals taking place on Saturday, October 8. You can visit RC 3D Fall Barrel Racing on Facebook for more information.

have one such tree in our own backyard. The winds may blow and swirl causing it to twist and turn, but it refuses to submit to the hostility it is faced with. Like these trees we are all individuals in our world. Each of us is unique and beautiful in the environment we have been born into. In our uniqueness we are noticed and cared for by God, whether big or small, in secret or out in the open, God knows you by name. Truly we would wonder why God would care for an individual human being. You are one of more than seven billion people on this earth, and God knows you by name. On a small planet in a small solar system in one of a multitude of galaxies, and so on. Truly we wonder with King David, so long ago, in the 8th Psalm “What is man that You are

mindful of him, or the son of man that You would visit him?” Yet He counts the hair on your head (Luke 12:7). And those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will enjoy Him forever (Psalm75:25). In this God’s power is demonstrated most perfectly. You matter significantly as an individual. Remember, God knows your name.

Many thanks to the SE Manitoba Ducks Unlimited Chapter for picking Richer to host their very first “Wrestling for the Wetlands” event! An enthusiastic crowd was entertained by these colourful athletes bout after bout under the Premier Tech Multiplex at the Dawson Trail Park. The event was a unique and successful fundraiser for the local chapter.
