• About two years ago I helped my Dad set up his first iPod, and I showed him how to put songs on it. I gave him a pretty quick walk through by putting 4 songs on it and he said he’d “take the wheel from here.” Two years later, (two years of him jogging, driving, and walking the dog with his iPod) I’ve come to find he hasn’t put one song on it. He’s been listening to the same 4 Billy Joel songs this whole time. - DevCo123 cox

Thinking LOUD Out New Seasons. New Perspectives. You know, every April I wait for my perennials to peek through the soil. In June, I watch in awe of their growth. Come July, bright pinks and yellows and lavenders punctuating all the green makes me wonder how I ever survive winter. By August, I am done. It’s hot, it’s humid, and mosquitoes the size of small poodles make weeding pure misery. Then September arrives, and with it, the autumn garden, which is every bit as lovely as a summer garden with one important difference: The autumn garden can be accomplished at the local grocery store, although the authentic autumn garden experience is best accomplished if you actually drive far enough to find a quaint little roadside stand that is NOT freshly painted or air conditioned. Either way, all it takes is to turn that weary summer garden gone to seed into an autumn wonder is some well-placed mums. And if you’re really using your gourd, you’ll throw in a pumpkin.

When asked for her occupation, a woman charged with a traffic violation said she was a schoolteacher. The judge rose from the bench. “Madam, I have waited years for a schoolteacher to appear before this court,” he smiled with delight. “Now sit down at that table and write ‘I will not pass through a red light’ five hundred times.”
Made for TV.
Guns For Hire, an Arizona company specializing in staged gunfights for Western movies, got a call from a 47-year-old woman who wanted to have her husband shot. She was sentenced to four years in jail.
You Mean Me?
A pair of Michigan robbers entered a record shop nervously waving revolvers. The first one shouted, “Nobody move!” When his partner moved, the startled first bandit shot him.

“I’m not sleeping; I was just resting my eyes.” = A defensive move, this ism is used when Dad gets busted sneaking a nap on the couch while watching TV. Her abs are her own doing. Her shoulder is ours. Movement is Tracey Staehle’s business. So when shoulder pain prevented the Simsbury fitness instructor from working or sleeping well, she turned to The Hospital of Central Connecticut. Staehle underwent minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to fix her shoulder. She’s back to work — or should we say workouts — and recently completed her latest fitness video. The hospital offers a full range of advanced orthopedic services, from outpatient procedures like Staehle’s to total knee and hip replacements at our Joint and Spine Center. The Center features private rooms, and a comprehensive program that guides you from pre-surgery through recovery. Along with accomplished physicians and outstanding staff. To learn more about our orthopedic services, please call (860) 224-5186.

Arrests FARMINGTON — A commissioner with the Department of Public Utility Control Authority was caught shoplifting jewelry and clothes from a department store at Westfarms mall on Wednesday, authorities said. Amalia Bzdyra is charged with sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond. Bzdyra purchased jewelry and clothing, but she also stole $252.99 worth of items, police said. Surveillance cameras at Lord & Taylor caught Bzdyra putting jewelry in a handbag. She is later seen exiting a fitting room with less merchandise than she had brought in with her, police said. Store security stopped Bzdyra after she left the store and escorted her back. The stolen goods were recovered, police said. Bzdyra was appointed to a four-year term as a commissioner at DPUC by Gov. M. Jodi Rell, a department spokesman said. She was appointed in December 2008.

Mom was right. Again.
When it was time to select an Ob-Gyn, Michelle followed her mother's advice. She chose a physician affiliated with The Family BirthPlace at The Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. That's where Michelle was born. And it's where Michelle proudly delivered her daughter Kali. Michelle's mom Jan knew about the exceptional doctors and nurses, who deliver world-class care, with a warm and compassionate touch. And she felt secure knowing that highly sophisticated medical care was on site, 24/7, should her grandchild need it. The Family BirthPlace at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.
