Thinking Out LOUD A Little Must is a Big Must They’re around all year long, albeit in the dark recesses of the candy aisle where I never (OK, seldom) venture, yet I barely give them a thought. Then comes the morning after Valentine’s Day, and there they are — bags and bags of these tiny little confections on display everywhere — and I am in trouble. Oh sure. After a few thousand I do get kind of sick of them, but until I’ve eaten that few thousand, I can’t get enough. Maybe it’s fond memories of waking up Easter morning to a house full of them, just waiting to be gathered up into ribboned baskets by sticky little hands. Or maybe it’s the fact that they are pure sugar and thus flawless in their complete lack of even one nutritionally redeeming quality. But it doesn’t matter. It has become quite apparent that jelly beans are destined to remain an integral part of my life — and my thighs — forever.
