TOASTMASTER UNIVERSITY

District 47 is known throughout Toastmasters International as "THE EDUCATION DISTRICT" This isa reputation well deserved and due to the outstanding performance of those who have served this district as Educational Lt Governor before me In order to enhance the reputation and to continue our tradition of educational excellence, I have put together a concept I call

Toastmaster University

"Offering the best educational programs possible based on the need of the district" sessions, then insome small way we have failed

As I traveled throughout the district campaigning, I spoke of the tremendous talent we have in District 47 We have a wealth in our past and current leadership, as well as virtually untapped resources at the club and area levels Please, help me identify our needs and our talent!

Toastmasters University

It is my personal goal to see that every educational session is so effective that our members will immediately put their newfound knowledge to use intheir clubs and areas I intend for every member who participates in educational sessions atdistrict conferences to carry something of value backto his/ her club The district exists to support the individual clubs and members Ifthere is nothing of value to them in the educational

If you have ideas for educational sessions; if you are interested in participating in the educational sessions at any level, in any capacity, let me hear from you! If you are aware of a need (be it a club, area or individual member need) that we can fill educationally, make me aware of it You,the individual Toastmaster, are the most valuable resource we have and without you, we cannot succeed

Appreciation

I take this means of expressing my deepest appreciation to the many Toastmasters who were instrumental in providing a superior July conference and most impressive and memorable installation ceremony

The outstanding cooperation between Spacecoast Division Governor Louise Y Boyd, DTM, and her committees with the District Conference Chairman Lou Funk, DTM, was most evident in the success of the entire conference

The traditional way this conference has been conducted in the past took on many changes which proved to be most beneficial As we grow and progress we must make changes to accommodate the members of the District which many times means a change in tradition

Ed Waters, ATM, Educational Lt Gov., and Steve Bard, DTM, Administrative Lt Gov., and I have received many accolades for the memorable July 1990 conference, training, and the installation ceremony The executive team is most grateful for the many detailed efforts in your support of this administration at this very special time

Sarah C. Meeks, ATM, District Governor 1990-1991
