Southside Speakers Club
You’re among friends . . . Southside Speakers Club is not a classroom: it is a “learn-by-doing” club where you can develop your speaking skills at your own pace in a style which suits YOU. Alongside you are people who are there for the same reason – you help and support each other. This shared commitment to a worthwhile goal gives the Club a special energy; members draw strength from one another and take pride in helping others to grow and develop in a positive and relaxed atmosphere. This spirit of mutual support is one of the most satisfying benefits of Membership. It also creates a positive and fun learning experience! As you get started, Southside Speakers will provide you with someone to help you with your first few projects. You can rely on this experienced member for advice and guidance for she/he has faced the same challenges you are facing and understands how you feel. The other members of the Club are also there to help you become an accomplished communicator.

The Benefits of Membership Whatever your goals in life may be, your success depends on your ability to communicate effectively. Individuals who can express their ideas - so that they are heard, understood and acted upon - possess one of the primary qualities of leadership.
Why join SouthsideSpeakers? Approximately 90-95% of members joined because they had to address a small group of people from time to time. In many cases, the group was as small as 6-8 people.
Southside Speakers is part of Toastmasters International which offers a tried-and-tested programme that will multiply your communication and leadership skills.
In this type of situation, for example a departmental meeting, a member may have had the knowledge, but lacked the know how when it came to communicating his or her ideas to other members of the group.
Over three million people have benefited from participating in Toastmasters. There are 3,000 current members in 140 Clubs in the UK and Ireland. You too can gain these same benefits – benefits that can change your life.
In the warm, friendly atmosphere of Southside Speakers, members have found that they overcame nerves, gained tremendous confidence and positive assertiveness and were able to motivate their fellow workers.

An employee who has passed all the promotion exams, but doesn’t have the confidence to take a leadership position? Seeking to ensure that your views are sought after and respected at meetings? Wishing you were able to “speak up” more often?
You can achieve these goals – as part of the lively and interesting interaction with other members in Southside Speakers.
How it works … Southside Speakers helps men and women from all backgrounds to learn the arts of speaking, listening and thinking – vital skills in today’s world. Why not come along to the next meeting of Southside Speakers? Whether male or female, if you are over 18 you will be made most welcome. Please feel free to attend any Club meeting or several Club meetings without any obligation. You do not have to speak unless you want to, but please remember that we offer a friendly and positive learning atmosphere – we do our best to motivate and encourage you. New Toastmasters gradually work their way through a series of short speeches. You work at your own pace, with no pressure, and there is always plenty of help available. In the process, you will learn how to organise a speech/talk, how to use gestures, how to speak with conviction and sincerity, how to motivate and inspire your audience. What new Toastmasters have said… “Four months ago I joined Toastmasters, after almost a year of scraping together enough courage to do so. And now the change in my life is nothing short of miraculous. Life has become so much more - more to experience, more to live for, more fun. My personal and career goals have shifted too.” “Because my fellow members have been so supportive I managed to overcome my shyness, speak before audiences and discover my potential as a leader.”
