A Workshop on Storytelling Liam Cunningham ATM Gold Chaired by Marie Kennedy “The Art of Storytelling” A brief history of storytelling, story structure for children and adults, story writing and “its how you tell um”. Liam Cunningham ATM Gold has been a member of Cork Yarn Spinners for almost ten years, won storytelling contests on RTE radio, travelled throughout Ireland and England storytelling, most recently to the Irish Centre in Hammersmith in London, and the Courtmacsherry storytelling festival. A Workshop on Speech Structure Alison Lavick DTM Chaired by Recie O’Shea “Building a bridge from speaker to the audience” When we understand how memorable speeches are constructed, not only does the audience remember the speech’s message, but the speaker finds it easier to remember what they want to say. Alison Lavick DTM, is 25 years a member of Toastmasters International District 70 and belongs to 3 clubs where she is VPE of one and VP PR of two. She has been a conference speaker throughout Australia and in the USA. Saturday 8th November

Education Workshop No. 3. A Workshop on Youth Leadership Nick Theato ACS CL Chaired by John Bowden “Kiss and Make Up” Keeping a Youth Leadership programme simple and innovative. Showing schools the benefits. Enjoying and having fun with your YL participants. Nick Theato ACS & CL joined Toastmasters in 1997. He was President of Nenagh Club 1998-1999, served as Area Governor 2001 -2002 and Divisional Governor 2002-2003. He was Conference Director for the 2006 District 71 Autumn Conference. He first started a Youth Leadership programme in 1999 and has had over 900 participants benefiting to date from various local schools. Co-Presenter – Noreen Mortell ACS & CL, is a Toastmaster since 1995 and she has enjoyed being EVP, President, Area Governor and Assistant Division governor.

Education Workshop No. 4. A Workshop on Strategic Club Growth Jim Davidson ACS ALS Chaired by Helen Ward “Planning for Long Term Club Growth” How do you start a club with no clubs around to support you? This workshop will show you why and how to develop a long term plan for club growth. Jim Davidson ACS & ALS joined Toastmasters in 2004. He was VPE of Glasgow Toastmasters and Southside Speakers in 2005/2006. He was awarded Toastmaster of the year for Glasgow toastmasters in 2006 and in the same year became the club’s President. He also received an award from the District Governor for his contribution towards the district becoming 4th in the world. In 2007 he became Area Governor for Scotland. In January 2008 he founded Dundee Toastmasters which chartered in June. He is currently President of Dundee Toastmasters and Assistant Division E Governor. Saturday 8th November

A Workshop on Evaluation Hilary Briggs ACS CL Chaired by Damien Raftery “Evaluate with confidence” Hilary Briggs ACS & CL, still remembers being in awe of evaluators at her first meetings at Grosvenor Square Speakers back in 2001. However, she quickly set about learning from them, and many others along the way, to go on to win the UK and Ireland Speech Evaluation contest in 2008. In this interactive workshop, she’ll share her knowledge of what makes a great evaluation, how to build your skills in a systematic way and some top tips for Evaluation Contests.
