Does Long & Foster (L&F) provide support and resources that have helped you to become a top producing realtor? Anna: Yes, L&F is phenomenal when it comes to providing suppor t and resources to their agents. The on-boarding process includes lots of training from top-notch agents and affiliates, which provides a wealth of knowledge and insight into the industry. Hearing firsthand about how to handle a transaction from start to finish (including common problems that may arise) continues to be very helpful in my day-to-day business and has helped to make me successful. Nicole: It goes far beyond technology and resources at L&F. For me it was the relationships that made such a difference. Whether it be picking up the phone to run something by my broker at 8pm on a Sunday or collaborating with fellow agents in my office, everyone is willing to share information and help everyone on their journey. What do you think this new generation of realtors is bringing to the table? Luke: I think the new generation of Realtors brings a totally new energy to the industry and is raising the bar for everybody else. Our understanding of technology and social media gives us a unique edge to market our client’s listings in new and ®

creative ways. It is no longer acceptable to simply input the listing in the MLS and wait for a buyer. We are proactively searching for that unique purchaser through targeted ads and videos. Instead of playing catch up, we are ahead of the curve and setting the new trends for the industry. How does your brokerage come together as a team? Anthony: We each have a Power Partner, which is like an accountability partner – someone to hold you accountable for your monthly and yearly goals. We always have each other’s backs. We have meetings the first Wednesday of the month, and that’s usually my best day. You walk out pretty inspired. Luke: My Bethesda Gateway office is like a big extended family. Our management works very hard to plan numerous social events throughout the year, from a Thanksgiving Day Feast, to a trip to MGM Grand, and a yearly NYC trip to celebrate over $1billion in sales. There is a tremendous sense of support throughout the office. At any time, you can walk into the workroom to ask an agent a question and I guarantee they will stop what they are doing to assist you. How does L&F give you room to grow as a younger agent? Luke: L&F has established a Young Professionals Group as a

great way to network with other agents in the company, share ideas, and come together at various events throughout the year, which have featured great speakers like real estate coach, Jared James. We also have a Facebook group where agents can post upcoming listings and buyer needs, which is not only a useful tool for us, but also for our clients. Boomer Foster is very open to hearing from agents of all levels and has personally acted on my suggestions. Since joining L&F, what industry insight have you acquired? Anna: L&F has a phenomenal reputation, so they always have great insight into the real estate world and how things are changing. They have partnerships with many technology companies, which enables their agents like me to benefit from them and grow our businesses. How does L&F fit in your long-term plans as a Realtor? Barak: I see L&F as my long-term partner in getting to where I want to be in this business. They help me with all aspects of the industry, not just sales. I truly feel that they are there for me no matter what. The confidence that gives me is priceless. What does your average day look like? Anna: A big breakfast followed by phone calls and emails in my office, meetings with my team members to talk about current and coming soon projects, followed by catching up on paperwork and making sure all transactions are where they should be, then part of the day usually involves being out of the office at showings, previewing, and client meetings. Does L&F provide training so you can continue to grow in your real estate career? Anthony: Yes, there’s constant training between L&F and my team. L&F also offers CE credits, which has been helpful. I went from 35 homes last year to 58 so far this year, with over $23
million in sales volume.To close 2017, I think I’m going to range more than 60 homes. There’s training at each step of your career as you progress in the business. Luke: There are so many oppor tunities to attend various training sessions from L&F Specifically, my office holds 2-4 trainings a week led by top agents in the office. The openness and willingness to share ideas without any filter makes our office very special. Trainings range from learning the basics of the sales contract to high level objection handlers and marketing ideas. L&F also holds multiple companywide events every year to re-energize agents and brings in impressive speakers like Tom Ferry. Does L&F provide the chance for you to be collaborative with other agents? Anthony: That’s on a day-to-day basis and a huge part of why I’ve been successful in real estate - it’s because of the support of the other L&F agents around me. I’m still running into scenarios that I’ve never seen before, and my fellow agents are so willing to help, even though we are technically in competition. When you talk, one L&F agent to another, you have that connection. What is the best thing about being part of Long & Foster? Anthony: It’s the support I’ve gotten from the very start. It really does mean a lot. I’ve always felt taken care of, and I see a future here. The name recognition and the great reputation of the company also help when I go on listing appointments. It has made my life easier. Nicole: Our culture. The ongoing support from the family that I have built here is priceless. I have a remarkable network with fellow agents through our L&F Young Professionals Network. It is pretty incredible when you can pick up the phone and go visit a 150+ million dollar producing team and they are willing to help you grow because you share the same brokerage that was built on family values.

How did you gain the title “Bricks to Brownstones”?
I gained a specific focus working with developers, investors, and first-time homebuyers. I help home buyers navigate the competitive DC market place by focusing on finding off market properties which helps avoid bidding wars and competition.
As a millennial agent yourself, what do you think this new generation is bringing to the industry of real estate?
More buyers are interested in fixer uppers because they want to customize finishes. Through my network I’m often able to find them opportunities that are not currently on the open market.

What would you like homeowners to know about you as an individual? I like to think of myself as very down to earth, passionate, and invested in whatever I set my mind to. Being down to earth makes me more relatable to buyer and my passionate side also helps put my buyer’s best interests to heart.
Where is your favorite place to escape in the District?
The Graham Rooftop is my favorite place. It has incredible views of the Georgetown area and serves as an incredible space to network with all types of individuals. I highly recommend it!
What TV show are you currently obsessed with?

I currently volunteer with KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now). They provide children with disabilities the opportunity to exercise and build friendships, parents or caregivers with much needed respite and volunteers with increased understanding about the needs of people with disabilities.
What is your favorite vacation destination?

I enjoy traveling as a whole, but one of my favorite places was Australia because of the culture and the people. Specifically, Byron Bay is my favorite spot. The beach town was made popular by surfers in the 1970s and is still stuck in that time period.
What is your favorite home design/decor trend?
My favorite trend is historic renovations. You get the history of the building and all the modern amenities at the same time.
What are you looking forward to most about the fall season?
The great thing about fall and the upcoming winter months is getting to spend all the quality time with my family over the holidays.
What do you love most about DC?
There is something for everyone on every corner.

As an agent specializing in working with first time homebuyers and developers,

I have carved out a niche in finding inventory that is not advertised. In this ultra competitive DC market, we are able to find off market homes and apartments by our relationship with agents and developers. That allows my clients to have a competitive advantage by seeing inventory that is not generally being advertised for sale. This partnered with the team collaboration we have at the Jill Schwartz Group allows us to fully service all of our clients real estate needs.
What is your favorite part about being a real estate agent?
Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions someone will make in their lives and I really enjoy being a part of that process from start to finish.

The one thing that keeps me going and makes my day are the thank you notes and testimonials from my clients. There is no greater satisfaction than hearing, “I know I never would have gotten this price with another agent!” from one of my sellers.
Where is your favorite place to escape in the District?
I’m a member of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and its Renwick Gallery’s Director’s Circle. My husband, Bill and I love the variety of the exhibits and opportunity to meet with American artists actively creating today. And, I’m reminded of the hours I spent as a teenager with my grandfather at his gallery on Sansom Street in Philadelphia.
What is your favorite restaurant? Bar? Coffee shop?
LaPiquette on Macomb Street in Cleveland Park. I love the location, the food, the atmosphere and the chef. Plus, they serve the most amazing chocolate sorbet on the planet.
What are your hobbies and/or passions?
Emory Eagle baseball. Our son, Rhett, is a senior majoring in film. I never attended a sporting event until I gave birth to pitcher, but now you can’t keep me away... I’m even the team Mom. It’s a great bunch of young men, who still hug their moms. We’ve made wonderful friends with the families of Rhett’s teammates from all over the country. Last season was the first time that any of the players on the team did not finish their year in Appleton, WI at the College World Series.They were knocked out in the NCAA South Regional Tournament... I call it the “Hunger Games.” It’s nerve-jangling, but we want to go back!
What book are you currently reading?
The Sixth Extinction... interesting, scary stuff!
Do you currently support any community nonprofit projects?
I’m so grateful to be on the boards of two extraordinary local organizations, Friendship Place and the Cleveland & Woodley Park Village. I’m involved in development and fundraising with Friendship Place to support the mission of empowering individuals, families and veterans experiencing homelessness to attain stable housing and rebuild their lives. In the last 10 years I’ve watched the wonderful work and the rapid growth of programs. From a little house in Tenleytown, Friendship Place’s reach now spans the entire D.C. Metro region and its programs have become national models of success, attracting the support of amazon.com with a million dollar matching grant. I’m especially proud of my firm, Long & Foster | Christie’s for partnering with Friendship Place. The Cleveland & Woodley Park Village is all about “neighbors helping neighbors” age in place, remaining in their homes and involved in their community. Volunteers may do something as simple as screw in a light bulb or as caring as sharing a conversation with a cup of tea. There are activities such as book club, museum visits, yoga and my favorite, the Lunch Bunch. My friend Sandy and I make arrangements at a local restaurant each month. The individuals who gather are interesting, talented people with rich experiences. It energizes me!
What is your favorite vacation destination?
My all time favorite is the Galápagos Islands with it’s unbelievable diversity of islands, each one unique, and animals... would you believe a penguin at the equator? But my most recent favorite was my birthday trip to Kenya in January. We adopted four orphaned elephants, one for each grandchild. Next stop - Giraffe Manor for cocktails at dusk and breakfast at dawn with the resident giraffes, especially Eddie who favored me with a birthday kiss! We spent the next 5 days scooting across the Maasai Mara National Preserve on safari with our guide, Sofie. We survived the crash landing of our speeding hot air ballon bouncing from one enormous termite mound to another. We were surprised with a picnic, sharing the spot and breathtaking view enjoyed by Robert Redford and Meryl Streep in Out of Africa. 14 I SSU E N O . 7
