1. TEXTURED SPLASHBACKS Is there anything more interesting in a kitchen than a textured splashback? In addition to worktops, splashbacks are quite often the first element that’s noticed when walking into a kitchen. Elevated from a purely practical role, like cabinetry, the once humble kitchen backsplash has taken on more of an architectural feel, with luxe materials and a new industrial aesthetic becoming the norm rather than the exception.

If you want to incorporate not one, but two hot trends for 2022, then give the standard subway tile a luxury touch with marble. While the classic glazed subway tile is still a stylish option, opting for either a marble-effect finish or rectangular tiles made of the natural stone itself is a great way to elevate an otherwise simple scheme. It’s also a pocket-friendly option – smaller marble tiles are often much more affordable than trying to cover the same area with one slab or large panels.
2. ADD A POP OF COLOR Throw out the rules in favor of unexpected paint colors! Kitchens are rife with color opportunities, from appliances and flooring, to window treatments, kitchen tile ideas and cabinets. Because wood can come in more than just various shades of brown. You can get all those lovely natural textures that come from raw wooden kitchen cabinets but opt for a colored stain for a bolder look. You really can have any color you want, creating something unique to the individual. Color and texture? Another outlet to display color is to change your kitchen styling or paint a wall. It is also the easiest and least expensive option because either can be easily updated should you tire of it. The color in a kitchen – be it on walls or fittings – should last for at least five years, minimum, so try to look beyond immediate trends and choose a kitchen color scheme that will keep you feeling good long term.
