Trent Jennings

Co-Founder and Product Director

info@bluemarmalade.co.uk www.bluemarmalade.co.uk

All products in Blue Marmalade’s portfolio are green by design and created from 100% recycled plastic. We have a zero-landfill policy, achieved through innovative die-cutting methods. No glues, adhesives or fixings are used for assembly of our products; each is made to be assembled using integral fixings designed into the component itself.

At Blue Marmalade we pioneered parametric CAD modelling to enable bespoke automated scaling of products for digital manufacture. This complements our standard range of products that are die-cut.

Blue Marmalade set out to create joyful products that will last forever, with as minimal cost to the environment as possible. Tackling the problem directly from the root, we designed products that are less harmful to produce than the established methods and built a manufacturing loop that is as clean, eco and efficient as we can make it.

Burgess & Leigh Ltd

Jim Norman Managing Director

jim.norman@burgessandleigh.co.uk www.burleigh.co.uk

Burleigh’s world famous pottery has been made in England since 1851 and at Middleport Pottery since 1889. Our production methods rely heavily on traditional craft skills because we know that those craft skills create a better product. Where modern manufacturing creates uniformity, our craft skills give Burleigh ware personality and soul.

Burleigh is the only remaining ceramics brand to use the traditional Tissue Transfer Decorating technique

Circular&Co

Ashleigh Smith Marketing Lead

hello@circularandco.com www.circularandco.com

We’re Circular&Co. and we are striving for global change, by making Circular Design the new standard. Together we can build a waste-free, endless world. By using waste materials to make new products which are then fully recyclable, we can reuse the same materials over and over, closing the circle. This drastically reduces CO2 emissions, stops consumption of the planet’s precious resources, and eliminates pollution; the three core challenges humanity faces.

Every design process we embark on is built, from the bottom up, on the principles of Circular Design. By definition, this means they have the most positive impact on the natural world possible.

All the time, it’s the only way to innovate and stay ahead of the market. Just one example we are currently working on and developing with partners is new SMART Reusable Packaging, with functions that can store your personalised information and communicate your favourite drink of choice to coffee machines.

MADE IN THE HEART OF THE LAKE DISTRICT, UK

We have been manufacturing on the slopes of Coniston Old Man for nearly half a century, you could say we’re hefted to this landscape.

We only use locally quarried stone, Westmorland sea green, Brathay blue/ grey or Baycliff limestone, it’s all part of our attempt to keep our eco footprint as small as possible, we use hydro electric power from the beck running by our workshops and cool our polishers and cutters using that same beck water rather than oil. We do not use imported Brazilian or Chinese slate for 2 reasons,

1. It’s been transported halfway around the world

2. It’s not as good – on so many levels. We re a small craft company that can tell you who made each piece and which quarry the stone came from, we believe that working hard and doing the right thing will help us keep producing beautiful pieces for another half century.

Coolicon Lighting Ltd

Rachel Naysmith

Customer Experience and Marketing Lead

sales@cooliconlighting.com www.cooliconlighting.com

Handmade in England since 1933, at Coolicon Lighting we use traditional handcraft processes to batch produce our heritage lighting products with the up-most care and attention to authentic time-honoured practices.

Our craft production processes have stayed the same over the 90 years since Coolicon lampshades were first produced, but the rise of digital technologies has brought many advancements to complement the brand for modern living.

Modern metal cutting technology allows us to create components more efficiently due to precision techniques, reducing waste by over 30%. The innovative, vented galleries of the shade substantially reduced the temperature of 1930s light bulbs thus increasing their longevity, an attribute maintained today that benefits current LED technology.

The creation of our website and increase in digital communications broadened Coolicon Lighting’s reach to outside of the UK and into global markets for the first time in brand history.

Donna Wilson

Jess Fawcett Sales & Marketing Manager

info@donnawilson.com www.donnawilson.com

As a forerunner of the contemporary craft movement, Donna Wilson has remained true to her principles, using traditional techniques and locally based suppliers wherever possible.

Having recently established her own micro knitting factory, the Knit Shop, in Dundee, Donna has been able to take the reins of her own production processes, while investing in the regeneration of the textile industry in Scotland.

Our Dundee Knit Shop has two state-of-the-art Shima Seiki knitting machines on-site, allowing us to sample and manufacture at scale. All of our products are finished by hand – our knitted lambswool creatures are still made using the same techniques (hand sewn and embroidered) as when Donna was making each one herself.

We are constantly looking for ways to make our products, and processes, more sustainable. Wherever possible, we use natural materials which can be returned to the earth at the end of their natural life cycle. We ‘mulch’ the knitted offcuts of our production process into an all-natural fibre which we use as stuffing for our creatures and as a component of our ‘Make Your Own’ craft kits.

Emma Bridgewater Ltd

Amy Stephens Head of Sales

amystephens@emmabridgewater.co.uk www.emmabridgewater.co.uk

We believe everyday kitchen china sits right at the heart of our lives, and that each cup, bowl, jug, and plate holds our personal stories, reflecting shared moments, enriching us as we eat and drink together.

Each design starts as a deeply felt personal response to what we love in the world around us. But we only know we’ve hit the spot when you love it, too. All our pottery is made from creamcoloured earthenware – a traditional Staffordshire product which we make in our own factory in Stoke-on-Trent, the home of British pottery. At our factory most of the production work is still done by hand, and all of the pieces are individually hand-decorated, so every one is very slightly different – and our spongeware is always signed by the person who decorated it.

Margaret O’Rorke works in translucent porcelain. She uses the unique nature of the material to convey a calm peaceful atmosphere. She is an artist, a potter and a lighting engineer. Her lights are sensual and expressive, enhancing architectural spaces. Her designs possess restraint and purity making her lights wholly modern.

Wanting to maintain a lively form I throw the translucent porcelain model on my potter’s wheel in my studio. The form is left to dry, and then low fired. The model then goes to the ceramics company, based in Stoke-on-Trent where the mold will be made and the light will be manufactured.

I work in porcelain and my lights are high fired to 1300C, a process which makes the fine translucent porcelain material vitrified and indestructible. The lights will last forever with careful handling.

All my lights are illuminated using the latest LED technology. I use a wide range of LED bulbs for individual lights, each one is incorporated within the design of the specific translucent porcelain light.
