“My mother taught me by example what it meant to be a mother. She is the inspiration for my new book, “The Ministry of Motherhood.” The Ministry of Motherhood is Cheryl’s journey from teen pregnancy, domestic violence, and single parenting, to being a successful mother. Author, inspirational speaker, and talk show host. “I am aware many young women don’t have a mother like mine, so, they really have no idea what it means to be a mother. They have nothing to draw from. With The Ministry of Motherhood, I want these young women to learn what I learned from my mother: self confidence, faith, and love for myself and for others. My mother’s lessons helped me to appreciate that trials don’t last for a lifetime. “
“My success as a mother depended on the sermon my life would preach.” ~ Cheryl Lacey Donovan
As a teenage mother, Cheryl encountered many obstacles, but her faith in God, her determination and a mother who would not give up on her, gave Cheryl the recipe for success. “When I think of mothers and daughters I think of unconditional love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. My mother and I share a very special bond. She’s always been there for me cheering me on. She never let me settle for mediocrity or failure even when I became pregnant at 16.” Cheryl says her mother is a major reason she is so successful today. “My mother always told my sister and me we could do and be whatever we wanted. When I got pregnant, I wasn’t so sure. But, she was the first to say it wasn’t the end of the world.” Cheryl realizes many mothers would have taken the stance “You made your bed hard now lie in it.” But, she is grateful her mother chose to truly be an example of motherhood by exhibiting her willingness to support, encourage, and inspire Cheryl financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Mrs. Donovan hopes to affect the lives of women in a profound way. Her passion is fueled by the many life changes that have affected her over the years. Cheryl understands adversity and realizes you cannot keep life from happening. But she also understands that the Scripture is true “you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.” (Philippians 4:13, KJV) “Scripture tells us that God can do exceedingly and abundantly more than you could ever ask or think according to the power that within you. This tells me that God has already equipped us with everything we need to manifest His will for our lives, but we must choose to accept His will and tap into the power He has placed inside.” (Ephesians 3:20) An anointed woman of God, Cheryl’s mission is to challenge you to look inside yourself for change, to identify the strongholds in your life, and to tear them down with the help of the creator. Once you have crossed her path, your life will never be the same.

6 Biblical Steps to Building GodConfidence (Self esteem) in your Children Cheryl Lacey Donovan
Genesis 27:33-37-Isaac trembled violently and said, "Who was it, then, that hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it just before you came and I blessed him—and indeed he will be blessed!" When Esau heard his father's words, he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, "Bless me—me too, my father!" But he said, "Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing." Esau said, "Isn't he rightly named Jacob? [1] He has deceived me these two times: He took my birthright, and now he's taken my blessing!" Then he asked, "Haven't you reserved any blessing for me?" Isaac answered Esau, "I have made him lord over you and have made all his relatives his servants, and

Divine Inspirations Magazine I have sustained him with grain and new wine. So what can I possibly do for you, my son?" Step One: Speak positively into your child's life. There is a story in the Bible that involves a father’s words or lack thereof. Esau and Jacob were both sons of Isaac. According to the covenant God made with Abraham (Isaac's father), it was required that they pass on the blessing of God to their eldest son. Now, Isaac had every intention of doing this, but Isaac's younger son Jacob and Jacob's mother Rachel, tricked Jacob into giving this birthright to Isaac. Esau was distraught. So much so, that he hated his brother Jacob.

Does God Want me to Dance? Prophetess Jeania Riley
In this situation, Isaac could have diffused the situation by speaking up. Instead, he chose to remain silent and docile. As a result, Esau spent many years in turmoil. Parents, encouraging words can propel a child to greatness while a careless remark or lack thereof can send a child into a lifelong tail spin. As parents, our words can shape our child's view of the world and their place in it. The Bible teaches us “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21) Choose to speak life into your children. Avoid words and criticisms that lead to ridicule and shame. Be generous with praise. Catch your children doing good rather than seeking to catch them doing badly. Your words make a difference in what your children believe about themselves. What were the last words you said to your child today? How can you use your words to build up and encourage your children each day?
The ministry of dance is not for a few alone. Some feel they are too young or even too old to dance for the Lord. Age has nothing to do with dancing unto the Lord. Remember, God called Moses at the age of 80 years old, to lead the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. Miriam, the Prophetess was way over 80 when she danced before the Lord after the crossing of the Red Sea. Sarah did not give birth to Isaac until she was 90 years old. Even Jesus, the Son of God, did not start his ministry until He was 30 years of age. I often wondered why God did not call me to the ministry of dance years ago. When I look back on how I have grown in the Lord, I realize, I was not ready at that time to be used of God in the area of dance. I had to be placed on the "Potter's Wheel" many times. Then, as I went down to the potter's house, and behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: So He made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. (Jeremiah 18:3-4) Follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit; if you feel a tugging at your heart, to move your hands and feet in concert to the music during the Praise and Worship service, then, let-go-and-

general, divisions within the church at Corinth seem to be a problem, and Paul makes it a point to mention these conflicts in the beginning. Specifically, pagan roots still held sway within their community. Paul wanted to bring them back to his doctrines, stating that God has given him the opportunity to be a “skilled master builder” to lay the foundation and let others build upon it (1 Corinthians 3:10). Similar to the attacks of unbelievers and baby Christians today, they were suggesting that Paul was pocketing contributions earmarked for the poor believers in Jerusalem. Consequently, the Corinthians, despite their announced willingness to help, had not yet donated to the cause.
Allow God to pour out His oil of gladness upon you today. He will come down and dance with you if you let Him. And, “He rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.” (Psalms 18:10) Excerpt from my book, "Dance, Another Expression Of Praise.”
Praying Your Way Forward Faith Thompson
Paying your way forward is Giving Back! Short of abortion and homosexuality, nothing derails a discussion about religion quicker than the subject of giving! If you mention the topic of tithes and/or offerings to 10 different people, you are very likely to receive 10 different responses. All responses will be passionate and full of emotion, yet very few will discuss giving in the context of what God has commanded. It will more likely be anecdotal: telling stories about friends and family that needed help from a church where they had been tithers for years and not receiving the expected assistance. Giving is not about receiving back, but instead is more a measure of our commitment! Allow me a moment to explain what I mean by this statement. This type of division about giving is not new. False teachers in Corinth [54 AD] were questioning Paul’s motives for ministry! In
Page | 7
How similar does that sound? We often have seen people that step forward boldly in the name of many causes, they wish to stridently announce that they are pledging some admirable amount at the public forum yet never take the actual step of giving what was promised! How many of us have cringed at the sight of a well known pastor or community leader stepping up to the pulpit and loudly exclaiming that they will start off the giving by this check in the amount of $$$ dollars. What we don’t know is how many of those checks were returned for insufficient funds to back it up? Second Corinthian, Chapters 8, 9) is a testimony of how Paul defended his integrity and provides an excellent summary of why and how believers ought to give. Now that one statement reduces about 50% of all opposition to giving. Paul was talking about believers! Real simple, if you do not believe that Christ is the living God who, though He was rich, for our sakes became poor, that we, through His poverty might become rich, then Paul was not talking about you! If you are a believer, that at the basic level you understand that there is a difference between a suggestion and a commandant! Giving to God is not an option for you to consider and weigh amongst other options, but instead, a commandment that does not allow any deviation. As God gave His best, so are we to hold nothing in reserve when coming to God.

Divine Inspirations Magazine Having established that believers are to give, the next question to arise is usually how much? Folks argue back and forth about what does 10% mean? Is that 10% of gross earnings or net? Since the Bible speaks of giving your time, talents, and treasures, can’t you give of your time and talents and still be good? Does that mean that you have to not pay your bills and give to God instead? What happens when your house is in foreclosure or you have a negative credit rating because you are delinquent in paying your bills? Trust me; all of these questions are tricks of the enemy to take your focus and attention off giving! God truly does not need your mortgage money or your light bill money! Your giving is a sign of your obedience and is an outward expression of your commitment. End of story! Your giving allows you an opportunity to gauge your own level of commitment. It is not about anyone or anything but you. Your giving flows from your relationship with God. Paul simply exhorted each member of the Corinthian church to give “as he purposes in his heart” [9:7]. The overall tone of Paul’s letter suggests sacrificial giving. That is not giving from your excess or giving from what was left, but offering up to God the best of your best! Take stock of what God has given to you and give from that. I believe that there is no way we can beat God giving. In fact, God challenges us to do just that in Malachi 3:10. God invites us to “Try Me now in this. See if I will not open for you the windows of Heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” So do not engage in idle conversation about giving with non-believers. Instead, let your life be an example to believers. Show how you express your commitment in between the time you petitioned God until the time of receiving the promise. Just try to beat God giving and continue to enlarge your storehouse as you make room for your blessings. Go ahead; we need to hear your praise report!

A Mother’s Love Stylicia A. Bowden
Indescribable, remarkable, untouchable, and utterly priceless is just a few words to describe a mother’s undying love for her child. There is no specific thing that can change the love a mother has for her child, especially after she has discovered the nine months of bonding with the fetus in her womb. She never really understands how this child will change her perception of life forever. The baby brings a sense of fear, happiness, and pure joy to her heart when she realizes the human being she has conceived now is a 6 pounds, and 19 ounces boy or girl that will look to her for care and guidance for the rest of their life. A mother’s job is to nurture, pray, and engulf their child with love so as they grow the child will not lack love. Love is a foundation that steers children in a positive light and allow them to understand sometimes tough love is required to help them stay on track. In the King James Version of the Bible, Proverbs 22:6, states “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it,” these words set a pathway to a child’s foundation. The foundation that is built will not be forgotten by a child as they grow even after they become adults. A mother displays her love in so many forms; I remember as I grew up in the Motor City (Detroit, MI) my mother would exemplify her love by teaching me how important it was for a young lady to keep her appearance up--which later helped me with my self-esteem. She taught me how important it was to be a woman with an inner strength that triumphed in the face of adversity. A mother’s love has no boundaries and she continues to give it freely without limitations. Proverbs 31 describes this woman as a virtuous

woman, “Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies.” She is admired by her family and respected by her peers. This woman realizes without God she merely ceases to exist. Her love is a reflection of God’s love for his people. So when you celebrate your mom on Mother’s day embrace her and say those simple words. “I love you, Mom!”
a man who left his wife and children to live with another man would ever be considered, let alone elevated, to the position of bishop. The outrage over his appointment to bishop caused severe schism within the Anglican Communion. It continues to be a source of contention among members to this very day. With both sides of the debate, one of the biggest questions asked is, what are the Scriptural standards for living our lives?
Christian Holiness Never Goes Out Of Style Apostle Lee Ann Marino Ph. D., D.D.
The adultery scandals involving Jimmy Swaggart, and Jim Bakker in the 1980s were the beginning of many difficult moral questions for Christians. Even today, we are told what does not matter as long as we know Jesus, such as how we express ourselves in worship or where we go to church, but these scandals made many wonder, what does matter? The Roman Catholic sexual abuse scandal [that dates back to Saint Augustine of Hippo (if not earlier)], caused some Catholics to question the church, some to deny the problem, and some to dig in their heels and defend with newfound force. The most popular defense is: even though they believe the Catholic Church is infallible, that does not mean it is not full of sinners. Despite what they say, and that this argument fails to address half of the issues present in the scandal, it certainly makes one wonder, is sin an acceptable excuse for sin? When Gene Robinson was elected a bishop in the Episcopal Church, many were outraged that

The questions about these incidents, which clearly have transcended all denominations from traditional to non-traditional, can be asked in one question: What defines living by God’s standards of holiness? 1 Peter 2:9 tells us, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him Who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” This verse tells us what holiness is; visibly showing the praises of Him Who called us out of darkness (the evils and sinfulness of this world) and into His light. It is an honor to be this chosen generation, royal priesthood, and holy nation, but living in them bears the special responsibility of holiness. If we desire the blessings, we must live the Christian life as God calls. Does it mean that we cease being sinners? No, but it means that we make no excuses for our sin, nor do we gloss it. God does not expect perfection, but He does expect us to make the effort to live in holiness. Those who go unpunished for sins, as did the majority of sexually predatory priests, or continuing to rob the elderly by having them send their retirement pensions and be cited as a voice of “moral America,” debase the simple principle that we are to be repentant of our sins. If the acts are concealed or are rewarded they do not convict sinners who just are not trying hard enough to find their desired justification in debauchery. Holiness is striving toward the perfect and modern attitudes that holiness is impossible or old-fashioned thinking for a bygone era is slothful excuses for those who have been rewarded in their sin and therefore feel justified in it.

In Matthew 7:16, Jesus states: “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” We are not told we will know by doctrine, or by church attendance, or even by verbal claims, but by fruit. Many argue the morality of ministers and those in authority do not relate to their message or their usability by God, but Scripture says otherwise. How hard we try to attain holiness and lead holy, godly lives are direct relations to our message because they become our living Gospel, more visible than the words we preach. We like to blame the world for all the problems in Christianity today, but is it not our insincerity, ingratitude, and ultimately our lack of holiness that lets the world in? If we want the world to honor God, shouldn’t we honor Him? If we want the world to value the Power in Jesus’ Name, shouldn’t we value it? If we want the world to be holy, shouldn’t we be holy? Legislation cannot fix this problem as we saw in the old covenant. Making rules does not make people holy it makes them have rules, and clearly, if people don’t want to follow the rules, they don’t. Being holy is a choice made every day to fight temptations, choose good over evil, right over wrong, and life over death (Deuteronomy 30:19). We are not as powerless over sin as we would like to believe because sinning is a choice we make, and in that same vein, holiness is a choice so it is not out of our reach. Jesus has set us free from sin and as Romans, 6:20 reminds us, “For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.”
Pursue holiness and reject sin leading unto death, that God might pursue your life in Jesus Christ for His glory. Hebrews 12:15 says it best: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”

A lot of people often say, “God is in control” or “It is what it is,” but do you know that you have the power to dictate your circumstances? Yes, you have the power to change your family, spouse, children, finances, job, business, and even your weight. As a burgeoning business coach, I often hear my clients say negative things about their businesses or organization. Things like, “Oh I’ll never figure it out,” or “No one will ever buy my product,” or “I’m not smart enough to do this,” and for all intensive purposes each statement is true…simply because they spoke it. Anyone who has read the Bible, knows that the Book of Genesis is not only the first book, but also the book in which we learn how God created the earth. It is a very simple fact, but one that many of us miss. When God desired to create something that was not there, He simply spoke it. For example, in Genesis 1: 3-4(KJV), the Word tells us, “God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.” First God said it then He saw it. In the first chapter of Genesis, nine times God says something and three times He called something into existence and it appeared. In
Divine Inspirations Magazine

that same chapter, verse 27 tells us that God made male and female in His image; so if you believe that God made you and He made you in His image, then you have the same ability to “say and see” what you want in your life.
constant watering and care, the harvest will be seen.
The lifestyle change comes when you learn to speak positively over the aspects of your life before they become issues. For example, my husband and I spoke positive things over our baby before he was conceived, during the pregnancy, and even now that our son is almost a year old. The hardest part is coming in contact with people who don’t believe what we do and say something like , “Oh he’s a Taurus man,” when they find out that our son’s birthday falls in the month of May. While the world embraces zodiac signs and horoscopes, my husband and I do not. We know that Leviticus 19:26 (Amp), speaks against the horoscope, and likens it to witchcraft therefore we have to give correction in love, and rebuke the things spoken over him by replying, “No, he is a child of God.” Some people may think that it is not that serious, but we do not want anyone or anything corrupting the precious seed that we have planted in his life. This principal can be applied in every area of your life. If your finances are not where you want them to be, then tithe faithfully (Malachi 3:8-11 KJV) and continuously speak what you want. If your health is not what it could be, speak that you are healed in the Name of Jesus and most importantly, do not continue to proclaim that you have the illness. If your children are not acting appropriately, (and you have taught them differently), then continue to stand on Isaiah 54:13, and speak that “great is the peace of my children.” If your marriage is not as happy as you know that it can be, then speak daily, “My husband loves me, as Christ loved the church…” (Ephesians 5:22-24, The Message Bible). Now mind you, it may take some time to see the harvest of what you are speaking, but if you keep speaking positively over whatever it is you want to change, eventually you will see the manifestation of your words. Just like seeds that farmers and gardeners plant, nothing springs up over night. It takes time, but with

For salvation (final deliverance) is nearer to us now than when we first believed (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Christ, the Messiah). The night is far gone and the day is almost here. Let us then drop (fling away) the works and deeds of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light" (Romans 13:11, 12, Amplified). "Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light. Look carefully then how you walk! "For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we do not belong either to the night or to darkness. Accordingly then, let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us keep wide awake (alert, watchful, cautious, and on our guard) and let us be sober (calm, collected, and circumspect). For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who are drunk, get drunk at night. But we belong to the day; therefore, let us be sober and put on the breastplate (corset) of faith and love and for a helmet the hope of salvation. " (I Thessalonians 5: 5-8, Amplified) Are we in danger as the Bride of Christ of being lulled and seduced into a deep sleep once again? Have we as leaders become drunken and intoxicated off of prestige, fame, fortune, and believing our own press? Are there those in the pew who have drifted off to sleep because of a false sense of security? God told the prophet Isaiah to cry aloud and spare not! Those that have an ear to hear have heard the sense of urgency in the Spirit not to allow the things of this world to systematically cause a sleep and slumber to overtake them. What has caused many to take on spiritual anesthesia and as a result have become dull of hearing and spiritually blind? The enemy comes to do nothing but to steal, kill and destroy, but the methods that he is using in this hour are so subtle and crafty. The tools of: false promotions, ambition, connections of the flesh, impure motives, and ignorance/arrogance have caused many to turn from pleasing an audience I urgently admonish apostolic gatekeepers to return to your post and defend the gates! He who control the gates controls the flow of traffic (spirits coming in and out of a church, city, and region). Watchmen get back in the tower and communicate to the shepherds on the fields what you see. God Requires Changes

When we come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, we inherit the most wonderful gift, which is eternal life. How beautiful is that? But I wonder how many people know that it does not stop there? You know, God requires a new life from us; we must begin to make a transformation from our old ways into the way God requires us to live. When going to church we must go seeking to learn the ways of Jesus Christ, for he is our example on how to live on Earth. In 1 Peter 2:21 it says, “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his steps. (KJV) Jesus lived a life free from sin; his heart was filled with love and compassion for his fellow man. And as we live for God, we should be acquiring that same mentality, all of our attitudes, anger, bitterness, strife, unforgiveness, slanderous behavior, jealousy, and envy should not be purging out of our lives as we continue to sit under the Masters feet and learn of Him. It is very sad when I hear other believers make excuses for why they want to continue in their sin. If you can sit under the Word of God on a continuous basis and still hold fast to your desire to sin, then one must

The other day, I received an email from Tiffany, and it was titled, “My Julian,” I didn’t think much of it because she always sends us updates on her family and how well the children are doing – she is no doubt a “proud mommy,” so I expected it to read more like how well Julian was doing in sports, or how good he did in school or something of that nature. But, BOY was it a testament to God’s Amazing Love! Join me and giving God thanks for His miracle working power. And, so it reads…
Yes people of God, when you taste the goodness of Jesus, you would crave for that taste all the time, it will become like a drug, and you cannot get enough of his love. I do not know about you, but that is how it is for me, I never want to be without His presence in my life. And, I want to be all that He wants me to be. Whatever needs to drop off of me will be dropped for Christ sake. If it is a funky attitude, then guest what? It has got to go! Anything that is an offense to the Father, with the Holy Spirit’s help and my yielding, it will go. Saint’s God requires a change. Do you know that this is how we win the battle over evil? And that is not to do evil, or think evil; we cannot allow Satan to have so much as a foothold in our lives. When Satan can no longer get us to respond to his behavior with negativity, then guess what he has lost the battle and the war! That is the true miracle to me, not a house or a car or to be rich, those are blessings, but if you want to see a true miracle, to be able to say that the prince of this world has NOTHING in ME! Now that is a miracle. So people of God let’s not just go to church, Let’s be the Church Amen!
“My Julian” Tiffany Swinton forwarded by Teshia Payne
I met Tiffany in my 10th year of high school. We were on the track team together. We became friends instantly—as if we had grown up in the same neighborhood or something. I now know that our spirits were connected for a reason. Now, we seem just to share emails back and forth, which is fine because we know that we

Hi Everyone, It is time for another proud Mommy moment from the Swinton household. I am sure you have all heard me talk about my Julian and what a great basketball player he has become getting invitations to play in places like Fiji and Amsterdam. Getting invitation to go to camps at NCU and Vtech just to name a few and for those of you that know us well, you also know that Julian was my miracle baby. Julian has epilepsy and was diagnosed at just three months old. At that point, he was having as many as 32 seizures a day. The doctors gave us grim hope for the future. We heard that there was a 60% chance he would be severely mentally retarded and only a 40% chance he would walk. Julian walked at a little over a year old and there were never any signs of mental retardation, but he did struggle in school. Yesterday, after another day as a six grader in Heim Middle, Julian once again went beyond what man could have expected of him as he ran up to me with report card in hand with a smile that could be seen for miles he said “I made the A-B honor roll for the first time in my life.” I could not do anything but scream and be reminded that all things are possible through prayer and perseverance. It is in God’s time that we will see his unconditional love and his blessings and yesterday he showed it to my family again. So stay strong family God is into answering prayers yesterday it was mine and today it might be yours. Thank you to all of you who have stayed on this journey with us. Tiffany P.S. - Brittany, Kianna, Javon, and I also all made the honor roll/Dean’s list, but we are giving God the glory and Julian his moment in the sun so this one is all about them.

With nothing more to be said…Happy Mother’s Day! And, GOD BLESS US ALL…
You see, I was sure that I knew that I could handle whatever came my way. I was sure that I could go 10 rounds, no, a lifetime with any devil that stepped in my way. So if I was so sure, then why did my wife begin belittling me with verbal assaults that the FCC did not have regulations for? And in a matter of 8 short years, it became too much for me to bear, and I could no longer stay. I did not feel loved anymore and I definitely did not feel like loving anymore, except for my beautiful daughter who was born 5-years into the marriage of course. I loved my daughter with all my heart (always will), but I just could not find it in my heart to love her mother, so I began to look other places for fulfillment. And, yes, in five short years, I was ready to call it quits.
Without God in Your Marriage, You’re Not Ready Robert T Sells
I can remember when I got married the first time, I believed I was ready! I was ready for everything marriage had to bring me. I was not going to encounter all those problems that everyone else talked about that they had because I was different. No devil on this earth or anywhere else for that matter that was going to tear apart my marriage. We did not have much money, so we got married at the courthouse and had a (fairly) nice reception later that night. It was almost 100 degrees that day, and I will never forget it. That was the day I was going to turn every truth into a lie, every negative into a positive, every statistic into a falsehood. I was going to show the world what it truly meant to be married and live “happily ever after.” I was very boisterous and you could not tell me my marriage would not last or you were going to have to deal with the heavy end of my hammer. LOL! Then 10 short years later, I was in divorce court anxiously awaiting my divorce. What? Divorce, not me? That is impossible because I was “THE ONE” and no one or nothing was going to get in the way of my eternal marital bliss. I do not understand what happened! Me, getting a divorce! That was impossible! Yet it was happening as sure as the sky is blue, well on sunny days of course. So why did my marriage end after only 10 years, when I made a solemn vow on everything holy and unholy that it would? I could not understand it, and I was propelled into a state of utter confusion that became too much for me.
Page | 16
My desire to be with someone else rose to astonishing levels! Why was this happening when I vowed never to desire another woman over my wife? I will tell you why. Because in all of the vows I had made to myself, I had never made a vow to God. I never gave God a chance to help me, and why should I, when I was handling it on my own? I did not know God then even though now I realize He was trying to get my attention. God wanted to help me deal with the things that were going to come my way, but I had time for everyone else, but Him. Why? Because I was ready! And no one could tell me different. I am going to make a bold statement now, are you ready? Unless you decide to put God first, you are not ready for marriage! That is a bold statement but let me show you why. You see the devil’s only plan is to “steal, and kill, and destroy us” (John 10:10). And he knows better than we do, just how important some marriages are to advancing God’s Kingdom. So because of this, the devil has two goals in mind: to stop us from getting married and to break us up if we are already married. What is God’s plan for marriage? Why is it so important for the devil to make sure we do not get or stay married? Why is marriage so important to the devil that he would take extra time to make sure things went bad for us when we get married?

Well let’s go to the Word of God. In Genesis 1: 26 God sets forth the plan for man. He said, “let us make man in our image and let them “rule” over the entire earth,” or “have dominion” as the King James Version puts it. Then in Genesis 2:18, 21, 22 God said, “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Then He put the man into a deep sleep and removed a rib to make Eve, his wife, or help meet. What is a help meet? God intended the woman to be the one who “meets” or “comes into agreement” with God’s plan for the couple. She is the backbone, the support and the organizer of the marriage. She is the nurturer who comforts the man when he is challenged and encourages him when he is down-trodden. You see, we as men can get to a point in our marriage, if we are honest, when we feel we are not worthy to lead. It is then that we as men need for our wives to pray for us and re-energize what the two of us are doing for God. The thing that is so amazing is that God will have already spoken to the woman he has destined for us to meet about what His plans are for her if she has been diligently seeking God about her purpose for being here. And when the man has been diligent over his prayer life and seeking God for what He wants him to do, he matures in his Christian walk, and as he does, he gets ready to receive his wife.
her heart for Him and for His people. I was instantly in love. We dated shortly after that and then eight short months later we were married on August 13, 2005.
Once both people who are destined to meet have been seeking God, developing a relationship with Him, and have sat under some Holy Spirit-inspired teaching that has matured them, then God knows they are ready to meet and He causes this to happen. This may happen through a chance meeting, or it may be a revelatory moment when God reveals who He has intended for this person to meet. In my case, my present wife was sent to me by God. But we had known each other for three years before that. We were singing on the praise team together at our church, but never had a romantic connection. I was living my life for God and she was living her life for God. Then one day God sat us beside each other and He told me to look at her. Then God removed the blinders from my eyes, similar to the way He did for Saul, and I saw her the way God sees her. He showed me all the love this woman has in
Page | 18
Now, I am not saying that it happens that way for everyone because it doesn’t, but that is the way it had to happen for us. God was developing both of us in Him and when we were ready to meet that is when it happened. We have been amazed ever since at how God has blessed our marriage. We have been seeing the fruit of God’s blessings through our union and I can honestly say that I thank God everyday for this incredible woman of God. Now things are not always rosy for us, and marriage can present its challenges, but we know now that God is our counselor and we go to God with all of our problems. What I have learned is that all of the praying I was doing in the middle of the night and all of the time I was spending in my Bible as a single was preparing me for the spiritual battles I would face as husband to a mighty woman of God. So be prepared for marriage before you get married. It is not always the things you see that attack your marriage, but the things you cannot see is what will destroy it. And if you are not ready, the devil will sneak in and destroy what God had planned for you. Don’t ever take satan for granted. He already knows where God wants to take you as a married couple and he will try everything he can to stop you from getting there. You see, everything you do for God will increase God’s Kingdom, but it will reduce the devil’s kingdom. So understand what you are up against. Understand that you are not fighting against the things of flesh and blood, but of principalities and rulers of the dark realms (2 Corinthians 10:5). Once we understand this as singles, then we will be much better prepared to handle the attacks that will come against our marriages. © 2009 Robert T. Sells – All rights reserved

forgiven you of your sins and has given you a fresh start. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9, ESV) Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. (Psalms 32:1-2, ESV) You have the assurance of eternal life. This is the picture of eternal life or life everlasting. Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Revelations 21:3-4, ESV)
Introduction: Each butterfly has to be born a caterpillar and go through a transformation before becoming a butterfly. When a caterpillar becomes a butterfly there is a complete change in the life of the creature. The illustration above is an amazing physical transformation. What has just happened to you, now that you are a Christian, will prove to be a much greater makeover. Yours will be a spiritual change. What Happened to Me? You became a child of God. The moment you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you have became a child of God. Yes, to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (John 1:12-13) Can you imagine that? You are a child of God! The Almighty Creator of heaven and earth is your Father. Your sins have been forgiven. Sins come from our rebellious attitude towards God. Being sorry for your sins was your initial response when you accepted Jesus as Savior of your life. Be assured that your Father in Heaven has
God would finally dwell with His people. Although you have been forgiven and now a child of God, sin and evil will still continue to battle within you. Our Father’s promise is that a day will come when we would eternally be with Him, completely free from sin and evil. What does this mean for me? This spiritual change will radically affect your life from now on. It is as if you have been born again. Just as the caterpillar becomes a butterfly, which is a new creature, so in Christ, you have become a new creation. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17) You will have peace even in difficult times. Because of the peace of God in your heart you will experience an inner joy that cannot be taken away from you. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) Jesus Christ calls your new experience, “life to the fullest.” And guess what, you can start thanking God for the miracles and unending blessings of your new life in Christ.

Discussion Questions:
Reflect back to the parable of the talents, God is a God of multiplicity. Every gift, talent, or ability is to be used to his Glory and not to be buried! Every day that we awake is a day of new opportunities. As my late Pastor, Bishop G.E. Patterson use to say "God is a God of Unlimited Opportunities!" Precious Ones..let me remind you that "Opportunity still calls, but rarely leaves a message on your answering machine.” Use each new morning to plant new seeds of opportunities, stay busy, and watch for a harvest. Money follows good ideas and flees poor management. Be a good steward over your time, your resources, and finances. If God gives you a dream to do this or that, do it with all of your heart, soul, and might. You may not understand the direction He is taking you in, just be willing to follow. Just like he has given you several options to explore and perfect in terms of vocations/occupations, they are creating "Multiple Avenues to generate Financial Revenues.” Remember: Your seed is your gift, and your harvest is the increase that God will return to you for your faithfulness in sowing and cultivating that talent. You might just profit from one or another or maybe both.
1) What were the initial experiences you had after receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior? 2) Based on this lesson, what are the assurances that you must hold on to in order to live your new life in Christ?
God wants to use everything that He has put in you, for His Glory! Evangelist Debra Savage
"Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don't know if profit will come from one or another or maybe both…" (Ecclesiastes 11:6) When Jesus said to "occupy until He comes it means to do business.” Many people sit aimlessly by and watch others pursue their dreams. There are three types of people in the world: Those that watch things happen, those who wonder what happened, and those that make things happen. Let me ask you today, "Which one are you?" Some people always seem to be doing something new; every time you see them, they have a new plan, a new business venture, or a new vocation. Have you ever known people like that and wonder where do they get all of that energy? I submit to you today that "activity does not equal results, and energy expended does not equal effectiveness.” Accomplishment is a function of performance (carrying out God's plan), not mere activity. God gives us the power to obtain wealth. Sometimes God will allow you to do a variety of things that will bring you "full circle" to your God Evoked Destiny. Those "God Inspired" Kingdom Business Solutions (seed) can generate Wealth Revolutions" (your harvest).

The Power of Prayer and Faith
Page | 23 Willie White
Acts 9: 32-43 During my study and meditation time, the Holy Spirit led me to this passage of scripture where it highlights Peter’s action as he and other disciples preached Christ and performed many miracles. What we know about Peter is that he was one of Christ’s original disciples, very out spoken and he was one of the many present on the day of Pentecost as it was Peter’s Pentecost sermon explaining the event that occurred, which was prophecy being fulfilled with the coming of the Holy Spirit. On this day, three thousand souls believed and were added to the church. More importantly, prophecy was fulfilled because Peter, the disciples and all who witness then and now can proclaim Christ with boldness, which makes for powerful witnessing as we see the many miracles signs and wonders that were performed. This brings us to our scripture text, which takes place at Lydda where Peter encounters Aeneas sick from palsy, and as he was made whole through his and Peter’s faith in Jesus Christ. Aeneas was told to take up his bed, through his faith and with obedience he was healed both physically and spiritually as was the towns of Lydda and Saron. What a powerful witness? Verses 36-43 illustrates Peter’s power to raise the dead as God the Holy Spirit was working through Peter to bring salvation to many just as He did in other instances. It is not worthy to say that God works through people to bring about His glory and desired plan to save all those who hear, see, and believe. The question now becomes what this illustration says about the power of prayer. In this illustration Peter knelt in prayer to God before asking Tabitha to arise--arise she did. Also, Peter has been taught by Christ Himself to pray always and whatever is asked in His name His Father would do, therefore, Peter believed that God hears and answers prayers. These illustrations are proof positive of what happens when one is baptized in the Holy Spirit. Modern day believers have the same power as He is the same Holy Spirit that is present in each believer enabling believers to perform like signs, wonders, and miracles as gifted by God. As recorded in Galatians 5:22 each believer is gifted with a gift from God as to the edification of the Body of Christ. Given the powerful illustrated acts of faith, then what does this say about prayer and faith in modern day believers? Acts 10:4 states that God considers our prayers as a sacrifice to Him that reminds Him of the believer’s perseverance in calling upon the name of the Lord done in devotion and faith to Him. Another school of thought is that the believer’s prayers are communications with God and as often as believers communicate with God, a closer walk and fellowship develops. This is due in part to believers humbly submitting to the Will of God through the Holy Spirit. The question now becomes, where is the believer’s faith? The believer’s faith is essential to all that we as believers do because faith is defined as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Believers can hope with assurances that the evidence of his/her prayers will be aligned with the Will of God in manifestations of physical and spiritual deliverance of the requested prayer. In closing, pray in faith knowing there is power in prayer as faith is belief in God and prayer is communication with God.

D.I.V.A.S GOING PUBLIC
Elder Mae Davis
”14-16Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in Heaven. (Matthew 5: 14-16, The Message) Going public refers to a private company's Initial Public Offering (IPO), thus becoming a publicly traded and owned entity. Businesses usually go public to raise capital in hopes of expanding. The same should hold true with the people of God. We should be ready to share the message of God with the public in order to expand the Kingdom of God. Although Jesus has been with us in the person of the Holy Spirit for more than two thousand years, many Christian still keep their Christianity a secret. They have a difficult time being that witness in the earth (the light) that Matthew described in 5:14-16. God is looking for bold Christians to publicize who they are in Christ. We have too many Christians living in fear of the light they claim to possess as light bearers. How is it that you
May 2009
Page | 25
work on your job, live in your neighborhood and no one knows that you are a Christian? Your Christianity should not to be a secret. As light bearers we are to lead those living in darkness to the light in Christ Jesus to posses the Kingdom inheritance as sons and daughters 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (Romans 8:14-15, KJV) Our purpose as light is to shine and be seen all over the world. God did not make us to be light of the world so that we would hide in fear. Our lack of knowledge in God’s word makes us lack faith in Christ Jesus. When our old life was put away we became new: “17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV) So let us stop keeping our salvation a secret and become the light that we were created to be. Study the Word of God, “15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV) Knowing God’s word will give you the ability to give an answer to every man, woman, boy, and girl, “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (Colossians 4:6, KJV) Now let us go “Public” with the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ as shinning light in a world that has lived in darkness long enough: 19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:19-20, KJV)

between the eyes, sometimes causing an incredible amount of damage, sometimes irreparable. I would love to tell you that you would not ever have any problems in the church you are currently in, or in any future churches, you may attend. Regrettably, there are problems in every church across the face of this earth. If the church we desire so much and dream about existed, we would not struggle with the problems we have in our homes, communities, and throughout the world. Brokenness, heartache, loneliness, sorrow, suicide, divorce, abortion, and bruised hearts do not and cannot exist in “The Perfect Church,” they only exist in “The Real Church,” and instead of “regular size” problems, we have graduated to “Super Size” problems.
Persecuted Saints within the Church Walls, Part 2™ Prophetess Teresa G. Myers
“The Real Church” “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, KJV) In the February issue I talked about “The Perfect Church,” now it is time to take an honest look at “The Real Church.” I am sure that many of you, as you read this, will be nodding your head and agreeing with part, if not all of it. Looking at the world through “rose-colored glasses” can be fun at times, but there comes a point in which we need to face reality; otherwise, we inevitably cheat ourselves of the fulfilling experience God intends for us. Strolling through life in a bubble filled with the disillusioned pretense that all is well and perfect in every way, is dangerous as well as foolish. At some point we need to face the realities that life brings to us; it is not easy, but we must face them. When that day comes, and it does come, we wake up from our fantasy and reality hits us
Churches today are weighed down with offenses, misunderstandings, anger, hostility, competition, condemnation, judging, and envy topped off with a tremendous amount of jealousy. In addition, let us not forget the ageold problem of lust. Not just the lust of another person, but of power, position, and last but not least, money. When you mix all these ingredients together, you come up with major problems beyond your control. We expect and prepare ourselves to be treated so unkindly by the world, but not from those who profess to love Jesus with all their heart and say they love their brothers and sisters in Christ unconditionally. Walking with God is neither an easy task nor does it produce an easy life. It is hard enough dealing with the hostilities, competition, anger, jealousy, and hatred in the world without having to deal with it in the church too. The Body of Christ should be a refuge and a safe haven from all the emotional, mental, and spiritual upheaval the world throws our way, not add to it. God’s Word offers an example to the Body of Christ and how we are joined together to care for one another.
Divine Inspirations Magazine

1 Corinthians 12:12 says, “A person’s body is only one thing, but has many parts. Though there are many parts to a body, all those parts make only one body. Christ is like that also.”
and they are shocked and disgusted by the warts that are now unconcealed. You find yourself questioning the friendship you thought was equally shared with unconditional love and acceptance.
The Body of Christ should appreciate one another, as well as the gifts and abilities God has given each member of the body. Each part of the body has a purpose and is just as important as any of the other parts of the body.
This is the point in church bliss when you start asking the million dollar questions:
Where are my brothers and sisters in Christ during times of trouble?
1 Corinthians 12:18-19 says, “If each part of the body were the same part, there would be no body. But truly God put all the parts, each one of them, in the body as he wanted them.”
Why are they not returning my phone calls?
I thought they loved me like Christ loves me.
The Body of Christ should be a united front working together to attain the goals Jesus has set before us; be a witness to the world and love one another as Christ loves us, unconditionally. 1 Corinthians 12:26 says, “If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts suffer with it. Or if one part of our body is honored, all the other parts share its honor.” Do you remember the last time you were loved unconditionally by the Body of Christ? I do not remember a time when there were not conditions to receiving love from my brothers and sisters in Christ. It always starts out that way, or at least you believe it to be that way, but then things start to change and you notice a difference in attitudes and looks, even the warm loving hugs change to quick pats on the back. Friendly conversations that were once filled with kinship are now oozing with uncertainty and a hint of judging. Then here it comes, emotional turmoil filled with unanswered questions that sink to the deep recesses of your heart aching to be answered and understood. Everything is changing, spinning out of control and you are desperately trying to hang on to the pieces you have only to realize that you have none. The love you once felt now feels like judgment, condemnation, and criticism because you are not perfect like they had first thought. The real you surfaced during an uncomfortable point in your budding relationship with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and they came to realize how imperfect you really are. They do not know how to react to your imperfections
Page | 27
I thought I could trust them. Why are they judging me? Whatever happened to being Christlike? Who died and made them so perfect? I have no doubt these questions, or similar ones, have bombarded your mind making you question God’s true love and acceptance in the church. Unconditional love is selfless, unbiased, and pure with no motives, agendas, or expectations. Wow! What a concept. Let us look at the meaning of “unconditional” according to the online Encarta Dictionary. Unconditional means to “Complete or guaranteed, with no condition, limitations, or provisos attached.” (MerriamWebster Online Dictionary, 2005) 2 It is amazing how just a few words can make a huge impact and bring us back to reality. Unfortunately, human nature is sinful, evil, conniving, cruel, and deceptive, and downright wicked. Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” I have spoken to many broken and bruised Christians that no longer view the church as a place of sanctuary. In their eyes, the church no longer provides the nourishment, peace, security, and refilling they need so desperately to survive in the world. 2

The armor of God they so joyously wore and polished now lies in a pile, discarded, forgotten, and coated with dust. The church was to be a place for gathering together to help one another fix, strengthen, and polish the armor of God. Unfortunately, many Christians found themselves under attack, not from unbelievers, but from their brothers and sisters in Christ, and within the “church walls.”

Facing Our Fears-Building Our Faith Christian Therapist, Sophia Avery
The attacks came so often that their armor could no longer protect them and they no longer had the energy to fix or polish it, let alone wear it. They no longer experienced joy when wearing God’s armor. Instead, found it painful, heavy, and too burdensome to wear. The thought of applying the armor and carrying it was more than they could bear to stand. How would they survive the enemy without the help of their fellow believers and their encouragement to continue? It was much easier and less painful to put the armor in the closet and let it collect dust than to deal with the disappointment, discouragement, despair, disillusionment, and anguish it brought every time the closet door was opened to display what could have been. If you have experienced what I have just described, then you are probably struggling with feelings you never thought you would have while attending your “Perfect Church.” Remember, no one is perfect, therefore, the church will neither be perfect either, nor can it ever attain to perfection. Many pastors and ministers really believe their church and congregation are the “godliest” of them all, but that does not make it true. Come with me on a journey through the realities of church “bliss.” What I am going to tell you will shock some of you, but most of you will not be surprised at all. In fact, you will probably be able to relate to what I am about to share. Please understand that I am not, in any way, encouraging or suggesting that you leave your church, or not look for a home church if you are not part of one now. What I am suggesting is that you look to the Lord as your guide, and spend quality time with Him to know clearly His
A Word in Season “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7) Fear robs us of our power, our love and in many cases our sound mind, as the scripture states. Yet, we try to rationalize our fears, tending to justify their existence rather than take a stand against them. Preparing to face our fears can cause as much anxiety as the fear itself. With this in mind, let’s concentrate on building our faith. Following are areas where we need to focus our attention in order to aid in fighting our fears and building our faith. 1. Challenge all thoughts that God has forsaken you. That would be calling God a liar. In His word He says, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (Deuteronomy 31:8) 2. Challenge the thought that you are being punished. You might be suffering the consequences of your decision, but those were your choices. Just like you took steps to get in a mess, you can take steps to get out. Repent and do

something to get out of your situation. God may not save you from yourself—. Fight your fears! Fears are just tricks of the enemy to prevent you from fully trusting in God. Bind your fears in the Name of Jesus! Matthew 18:18 says, “I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven!” a. Pray and ask God to show you your fears. b. Through counseling or selfstudy, learn the origin of your fears. c. Through counseling or selfstudy, work to get rid of them. d. Fight your fears with scriptures and faith. (A great Self-Study book is “Overcoming Fear” by Margaret Feinberg). Control your emotions; do not let them control you! Sometimes we get hurt, are sad, or depressed, and those emotions block us from our faith. Decide to keep the faith no matter how you feel. Stay in the Word. All the help you need is in the Bible. Study it and know it, so you will be armed with the ammunition you need when the devil comes to trick you. Pray in Jesus name, and BELIEVE when you pray. In Mark 11:24, Jesus said, “When you pray, believe that you receive and you shall have 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Change your view—stop looking down, and look up. 1 Peter 2:20 says, 20But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you

endure it, this is commendable before God.” Your blessing is in suffering and enduring!” What if Jesus had gotten tired, and decided to get down off the cross? Change your perception—Don’t get down off the cross!
Pancakes or Waffles Pastors Mike and Trisha Fox
Pancakes or Waffles? The other day, I was looking in our freezer for the box of Pancakes. I usually eat Pancakes with our daughter, as part of our “daddy-daughter” breakfast. Pancakes, with lots of syrup. Thick, rich, maple syrup. Okay, so now your mouth is watering. But it being morning time, my brain and eyes were at, say, 45% capacity. So when I opened the freezer door, and saw the box, it had a picture of Waffles on it. I love Waffles too, by the way. But the pancakes are smooth, soft, and easier to cut into pieces for our 2 ½ year old daughter. So, when I saw the box showing Waffles, it appeared that we were all out of Pancakes. To which I resort to cereal and toast, and possibly a bagel and cream cheese. A few days later, my wife told me that we did in fact have an unopened box of Pancakes. But, the box was flipped to the back, which for some reason displayed those tasty Waffles. So, in essence, that box was really Pancakes, not Waffles. Either way, if there is enough syrup on either, I am good!

A few things can be derived from this, however.
But when you pour the syrup of closeness in the marriage relationship, both tastes are a delight!
1. The box seemed, or appeared to be a box of Pancakes; but, if I would have taken the time and energy, which would probably only amount to like 510%, I would have quickly discovered a box of Pancakes; new and unopened, ready for our discovery! 2. There really is a difference between Pancakes and Waffles. So, number one; the flip-side of the box made it appear to be something other than what I wanted; I did not take the time to find out if it was really a box of Waffles or not. I just took my few seconds and no energy, and just interpreted that to be what I thought it was. Turns out not to be what it was at all! I absolutely cannot stress enough the importance of proper and effectively “listening” to your partner. How many times has one partner said something in a tense moment, and it be misinterpreted to mean an entirely different meaning? This listening interaction has caused innumerable amount of unnecessary hurt and distance in marital relationships. When in conflict, or pre-conflict discussions, it is imperative, that you “hear,” not just “listen” to what your partner is actually saying. If you only use the same 5%, and little energy to surmise and come to a complete conclusion that your partner is saying something to purposefully hurt you, you have missed the content; and you think it is a box of rough Waffles, when in reality, it’s a fresh, new, unopened box of smooth, delicious Pancakes. Realize that love without proper and effective communication is a recipe for failure for the future. Take the time to listen, and then repeat back what you thought you heard your partner say. You will be surprised at the amount of times you actually did not quite catch what was said. Really, it’s not Waffles, it’s Pancakes! Secondly; Pancakes are smooth, Waffles are rough. Obviously, this is an attempt to point out that men and women are very much different.
Page | 30
Understand that there are God-given differences, and both husband and wife will hear and interpret things differently. The whole goal is to hear what THEY are saying, not what YOU are hearing. When we can somehow, with practice, learn to master the fine art of listening, we will drastically decrease our arguments and misunderstandings by approximately 50 to 75%. So, go make some fresh breakfast, whether with Waffles or Pancakes!

When you feel like you are not getting the support that you should from your family or the support that you feel you need from your peers, maybe you should take a step back and think about the support system that really matters. Jesus is your support system, and His Grace is abounding. When everyone has turned their backs on you and you feel like ALL HOPE IS LOST… Look up and smile and know that God is smiling down on you and your being alone or feelings of loneliness are an opportunity for God to show up and show out in your life!!!! Youth4-2day HOLD THE CHEESE. Pastors Mike and Trisha Fox
Hold the Cheese! Millions of us have watched as Tom the cat tried unsuccessfully to catch the cute, but smart mouse Jerry with the nice, yellow, hole-filled Swiss cheese. In fact, we’ve all grown up with the understanding: Mice=Cheese, and “How do you catch a mouse? With cheese!” But here’s something to flip that theory upside down. According to researchers from Manchester Metropolitan University, the longheld theory that mice are attracted to the smell of cheese has been debunked by a new study! Imagine that! The old, million year theory that we’ve all grown up on, that mice actually are not attracted to cheese, blown down by researchers! But, it’s true! These researches say that mice actually prefer foods with higher sugar and sweetness content. They say that a mouse’s diet consists mainly of grains and fruits. And given the opportunity, and would turn their noses up at something as strong in smell and rich in taste as cheese. Dr. David Holmes says, “Mice have evolved almost entirely without cheese or anything resembling it. They respond to the smell, texture and taste of food and cheese is something that would not be available to them in their natural environment and

therefore not something that they would respond to."
he’ll attract you to something that you think is “not that bad.” You know it’s “not good,” it’s just, well… it’s just “not that bad.”
So, what does this have to do with me? Glad you asked! Years ago, we found a mouse munching in our home in Oregon. We could hear it in the middle of the night. So, we ended up getting a mouse trap. But, not the kind you get that would stick a sharp, metal gash and gorily kill it. No, we wanted to “dispose” of it in a more diplomatic, sophisticated way. So we got one of the mouse cubes. That would lovingly trap it and well, safely allow us to get rid of it. What was interested, was that it used an artificial smell of Peanut Butter to attract it. Hmm, Peanut Butter. Not cheese, but peanut butter. And the inside was sticky. Like glue! Well, I was working and then heard a scream and holler in the other room. Sho’nuf, the trap attracted Mickey Mouse, and the rodent was stuck. Problem was that, only two of its legs were stuck and it was moving the trap by working its little legs. So we saw this box, and half a mouse body sliding across the floor. Well, we can’t have that, can we? So, we made sure it not able to get out and carefully put it outdoors, and then it could most likely squirm out and run away or something. Well, for those of you who saw Jurassic Park, the first one, remember the sheep or lamb chained to a post? Well, we found only half of the mouse the next day. It wasn’t T-Rex, but a neighborhood cat. Needless-to-say, the devil is not stupid. He is not “all knowing,” but he is not a dumb, red little person with a goatee, pitchfork and pointy tail. No, the devil has been around a while. And, Apostle Paul talks about him having “wiles,” “fiery darts,” and “crafty devices.” Unfortunately, if you’re still in like, say, the 1950’s with knowing about the devil, and hearing preaching about the devil, let us be the first to give you the lo’ down. He has changed his method of attracting and trying to kill you. Don’t get us wrong. He’s still the same crafty, sneaky devil, but he uses what gets to us. He most likely won’t come to you with something that he KNOWS you will turn down. Instead,
Page | 32
You thought he would be coming to you with something that your dad, mom or older preaching preached about, but you had NO IDEA that these “new” temptations would be luring you and drawing you away from God and His righteousness. You see, we thought it was “cheese” for years! But turns out, that it’s more like bread or peanut butter. We really didn’t like Swiss cheese that much. But Peanut Butter! Hmm. Now we’re talkin’! You need to be “aware of the enemy’s devices” and know that if it is NOT something that helps you to be closer to God, than it’s probably something that will pull you away from God. It’s not about doing something VERY wrong. Understand that just doing “little” things will eventually lead to bigger things. Whether good and pure, or carnal and sinful. ONE THING WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO ANOTHER. So, to wrap this up, we encourage you to change your diet. Don’t eat cheese, or the things that could cause you to be tempted. Only Christ can change you on the inside. Only He can change your diet and desire, your “nature.” Your nature is the part that craves things. And if you let God make you a “new” creation, with a “new” nature, you will crave “new” and spiritual things, in which you CANNOT be tempted away from Christ. Hold the cheese, please! “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1: 14, 15)

but dewy does not mean moisture. Find the right moisturizer
Spring Bling!
Beauty Editor, Kelly Laws
As the warm weather quickly approaches, there are several items that you do not want to be without. For starters you don’t want to be without a change in your foundation color. As the temperature changes all skin tones have a tendency to change at least one shade, so make sure that you change your foundation to accommodate your new tan. Also I love to use bronzers to highlight my new warm weather glow. Bronzers have the awesome ability to capture light and reflect it so that others see your natural beauty. This is also the time to use gloss instead of a heavy lip color such as lipstick.
I love to use pinks, browns, clear shades, oranges, as well as golden yellows to play up my new tan. You can also experiment with bolder shades of eye shadow such as ocean blues, deep purples, vibrant greens, and lemon yellows. Try a new summer mascara color such as turquoise, bronze, purple to add “bling” to your lashes. And don’t forget to moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize. Just because the weather is getting warmer, that does not mean you stop making sure that your skin receives the right amount of moisture. Yes, warm weather and humidity can cause the skin to become dewy,
for your spring and summer skin and better yet why not try a tinted moisturizer. These color enhancers are dual purpose; they moisturize as well as add a hint of color to your skin. Well that’s it for this month. Next month, I will bring you some great places to shop for summer attire. Be blessed until we meet again. KellyGirl

You Can’t Beat God Giving "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6:38, KJV) This month’s lesson deals with giving. Yes, it seems we are always talking about giving. We talk about it a great deal because that is what Christianity is all about. God gave His best.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16, KJV). God gave the best that He had. That gift did not cost us anything but it came at a great price. No matter what you decide to give from this day forward, you will never beat God giving.
had planted and the Lord rewarded him greatly."
Today’s lesson text tells us that if we give that God will redistribute unto us a good measure that is pressed down, shaken together and running over. The New Living Translation of the Bible puts it this way – “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full— pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” This simply says that you cannot beat God giving, no matter how hard you try. The more you give, the more He will give to you. What you have at your disposal is not enough to meet your need. What you have in your hand is your seed. Scripture tells us that “Whatsoever a man sows that will he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). If a farmer decided that he did not really feel like planting, that he was tired, and he “felt led” to sit around and hope the harvest would come in. He would be waiting around his whole life. No, he must plant the seed in the ground. That is the principle that God established. In the same way, if we want to reap good things, we too must sow some good seeds. Notice, we reap what we sow, if you want to reap happiness you have to sow some happiness seeds by making other people happy. If you want to reap financial blessings, you must sow financial seeds. If you want to reap friendships, you should sow a seed and be a friend. The seed always has the lead. In Biblical times, a great famine struck the land of Canaan. People did not have any food or water, and they were in desperate need. So Isaac did something that people with insight may have thought rather odd. Genesis 26:1 ,2 "In the middle of the famine, Isaac sowed a seed in the land. And in the same year he received one hundred times what he
Page | 34
In his time of need, Isaac did not wait around; he sowed and then reaped a hundredfold harvest. The principle of sowing and reaping is a Biblical principle that cannot be ignored. Luke 6:38 is another way of saying that you will reap what you sow. When you give, God will give back to you a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. You can’t beat God giving, no matter how hard you try.

God knew how important Mothers would be To all of society you see He gave us Mary, The most important mother of all Who gave birth to a son named Jesus Who would set all mankind free You see it was a mother gave birth To every important man in the Bible Peter, Philip, Nathaniel, and John Timothy, James, Andrew, and Paul King Solomon, King David, Jeremiah, and Isaiah Isaac, Jacob, Esau, Joel, and Obadiah Gideon, Sampson, Abraham, and Lot Noah, Moses, Samuel, Joshua, Job, and Zechariah Amos, Jonah, Micah, and Zephaniah Enoch, Nahum, Elisha, and Elijah
Because where I was wasn’t where I needed to end up Where I was didn’t define me as washed up My mother always told me she loved me Even when she punished me Even when I didn’t feel like hearing it she’d lavish me With her constant statements of love for me Even during those times when it embarrassed me In front of my friends But one day she was laid down to rest And that’s the day I remember best The day she went home to be with the Lord From that day forward I began to realize The impact she had on my life The mold she had planted so indelibly in my mind For the type of woman I’d eventually want to be my wife You see that’s what mothers are They are valuable people in our lives Who guide and direct us through the Turbulent times They show us how to strive For the top and never settle for less. They are the ones who constantly let us
All of these men were great men of God Yet all of them came from the womb of a woman No matter how great any man on this earth may have been Without mothers there would be no one.
know That in spite of what we go through When we put God first we will survive
Who is a mother? She is that one we all depend on The one the whole family leans on The one who loves completely and unconditionally Without needing to have a reason
That’s what my mom taught me How to think about God first And not get caught up with thinking about me For it is through God all things happen It is through God that our blessings come to be
I am so thankful for my mother For without her where would I be? Her constant reassurances During my times of feeling defeated Her loving nods that let me know That no matter what may happen My mistakes didn’t have to be repeated
So if you haven’t thanked your mother lately For the day she brought you here And if you haven’t shown gratitude to your mother For the direction she guided you in life For dealing with all of the things you did And still loving you more than any other
I can remember so many times When I wasn’t sure which direction to go What decision to make What valuable things I should know Those were the times my mother was there Always showing me who I can be Instead of whom I am now Always telling me not to accept Just living day by day just because I can She always urged me to push harder Reach farther and think larger Than my current situation
So mothers we salute you on this day For always giving of yourselves to see us through Mothers we love you completely for all you have done And for everything you been to us we will always honor you © 2008 Robert T Sells – All Rights Reserved
