Pre-Comprehensive Exams—a arudous fixture of the BISV curriculum. Essentially midterms for middle school, our sixth graders have to sit around three days of exams in January for all their academic subjects, for the first time as well. They return home nervous, uncertain about their results and afraid of repercussions. So this year, BISV Key Club has prepared self-care kits for our young
friends, a two-part effort. In this first segment, our members write cards to these sixth graders, recounting our own failures and triumphs at that age, reassuring the insignificance of exam results in their life experiences, and offering academic advice for them in the future.

In December Los Gatos Key Club members were able to collaborate with Stratford Key Club members to create care packages for a children’s care facility. Students organized themselves efficiently and were able to make 30 care packages which included, hot chocolate, squishy toy, fidget toy, a sticker book and a handwritten letter written
beforehand. Once packaged, Key Club members hand wrapped the gifts with a variety of festive wrapping papers. These packages were donated to Children’s with Disabilities. While Los Gatos Key Club members did not have the opportunity, Stratford students were able to hand the gifts directly to the children. This event was an amazing opportunity for Stratford members and Los Gatos members to connect with each other and bring holiday joy to children in need!

We had our December club meeting where we updated our members on various Key Club events coming up. First and foremost we brought up dues and reminded our members on how and where to pay for them and that it is essential to officially become a member. We also told our members that the origami paper crane making event is continuing, allowing members to make more paper cranes,
giving them more origami paper to make cranes at home if wanted. Additionally we advertised the trail cleanup on January 11th, which is a monthly event on the second Saturday of the month.
