On September 12th, our BISV Key Clubbers worked on folding paper cranes for the last half hour of the club meeting. This initiative was organized by Cranes for Cancer, which takes inspiration from the old Japanese tradition of making 1,000 cranes for good luck and health. Our club members spent this meeting, as well as the rest of the week during lunch, folding cranes to provide boxes for cancer patients around the country. With the help of many of our proficient crane-folders and YouTube tutorials, our club was able to produce around 500 cranes, all of which were made with love and passion by our very own members.
Paper Paper & Los & Los
At the LG Art & Wine Festival hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Los Gatos, numerous KeyClubbers showed up to help manage and assist various booths across the two-day event on September 21st and 22nd. Key Clubbers attended various sessions ranging from 7AM on Saturday to 8PM on Sunday, dedicated to supporting festival hosts and attendees. We helped adult supervisors in setting up wine and beverage booths, maintaining ice supply, recycling materials, and putting up umbrellas around seating areas. Key Clubbers also managed the info booth, answering any questions festival attendees had as well as chatting with local Los Gatos residents. In addition, we helped fundraise the event by advertising and selling vintage glassware to interested patrons. Both veteran and brand new Key Clubbers had a blast browsing the bustling and lively arts and crafts booths, rocking along to the live concert, and devouring delicious hot meals from the food trucks. Volunteering at the festival was a wonderful time to engage with the local community and appreciate some of its remarkable creative talents.
