Hello from the New Lt. Governor Hello, Spartans! My name is Juan Navarrete and I will be serving you, as the Division 38 East LTG, for the 2018-2019 term. I am a junior from University Preparatory and my birthday is on August 7. I have a mom and dad, a brother, one dog, and 2 birds. I like to eat, especially when I'm stressed (a very bad habit), I like to look for different music to listen to, and I like to criticize stuff, like movies, books, songs, among other things. I'm not trying to be a critique in the future, but I might look into it if necessary. I love Key Club, ever since I joined it 2 years ago, in my Sophomore Year. However, I didn't truly know what it was until I became part of the Division Leadership Team. Now as Lt. Governor, I know what this organization is capable of doing for the world. It is able to leave an impact in this world and make it a happier and better place! There is so much to accomplish and I know that together we will be able to accomplish every goal we set. I can't wait to meet every single one of you guys and have a lot of fun improving the world!

WHAT HAPPENED The 72nd District Convention Happened! This was my first time going to DCON and I will remember it for the rest of my life. There were many mixed emotions that I was feeling before and at DCON. I was feeling happy, excited, curiosity, nervousness, and worries; the one feeling I did not expect was...... sadness. While I never met or talked to the 2017-2018 District Governor Angelica Rose Garcia, when she was saying her final goodbyes, I actually teared up and had to wipe away some tears. Saying that she was a great District Governor would be an understatement, because she not only inspired her fellow District Executives, LTGs, and Committee chairs; she inspired me, a nobody, a kid from a small division, a kid wondering what to do with the rest of his high school career, plus some other 40000 Key Clubbers. She wasn't the one that inspired me to run for LTG but she has inspired me to try my best and to do my best . So, Thank you, IP District Governor Angelica Rose Garcia. Even though, you won't be reading this, I wish you luck in college and I hope you achieve your goals, but seeing what you did, I know you will.

At DCON, there were many educational workshops that were presented by amazing leaders. We, also, had sessions that focused on different things. The sessions were my favorite part of DCON because we got to scream our hearts out, show support to our LTGs, and we got to see and hear AJ Rafael. Out of all the sessions, my favorite was the Regional Session with Region 5, 10, and 15. We were placed in groups and played some icebreakers; MY group, Region/Team 30, won the first icebreaker, and we would've won the other ones too but the LTGs presiding over the Session felt bad for the other teams, & would let them win; but know this, we were the best.

Everyone was able to meet the candidates for the District positions and they were all capable of doing their jobs, as all of them had many qualifications under their belt. However, only the delegates were able to vote for who they wanted as District Governor, Secretary, and Treasurer. I believe we did a good job in choosing our District Executives and I would like to say Good Job to the other candidates for running and trying their best. Our District Governor is Jonathan Lum from Division 26 South, District Secretary is Zoe Yao from Divsion 26 South, and our District Treasurer is Kara Yoshiyama from Division 22 Makai!

Overall, DCON was a one in a lifetime experience that you get to experience and I am really sad that nobody, besides IP LTG Sophia Kim and me, went from Division 38 East. I hope that for the next DCON, more people go from Divsion 38 East, even if it is only 10 people. So make sure to fund raise and save up to be able to go. I enjoyed my time at DCON and I can't wait for the next DCON.

International Convention Did you miss your chance to go to DCON and represent your club or division? Yeah? Well, you have the chance to represent not only your club, and division, you have the chance to represent CNH District at ICON! ICON will be from July 4th-8th, in the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, Chicago, Illinois. Like DCON, you have to register and pay. Registration is $200 per Key Clubber and with Hotel Registration costing $159 each night. Is this too expensive for you? You have to start planning now because the last day to pay is May 30 all of it, or June 15 for the rest of the payment There is this concept called the One-Third Concept. It is very simple and efficient. It goes like this, each Key Clubber that wants to go to ICON has to pay 1/3 of the entire price, then their Home Key Club helps fund raise and pay for another 1/3 and finally to pay for the rest of the 1/3 you could ask your Sponsoring Kiwanis Club, to sponsor you or you could go to a different 3rd body like a local business. Or if you are super rich you can pay for it all! Contact me, your LTG, if you are interest on going so that we could start planning accordingly or if you have any questions.

Key Leader Key Leader is a weekend experiential leadership program created by Kiwanis International. The program is designed for aspiring leaders for a process of personal leadership growth and development of self-confidence to better serve your home, school, and local community. The mission is to provide a life-changing experience that inspires young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership. There are currently 2 upcoming camps but you will not be able to attend the first one as it is from May 4th-6th. Sorry! The next one is happening on October 19th-21st, 2018. This camp will be held at Camp Cedar Glen, Julian, CA. To attend, you have to pay, as well. The registration fee is $225 if you are a student participant AND Key Clubber. $250 if you are going as a student participant. $175 if want to participate as Student Facilitator. $115 if you are an adult/chaperone. A late fee of $25 will be applied to any registration received within 7 days from the start of the selected camp. So if you for sure know that you can and want to go, be proactive and pay. You can apply for a $35 scholarship, however, it could be gone quickly. $35 may not seem like a lot of money but with that $35 scholarship you are now able to buy souvenirs. Go to the Cyberkey, CNH Key Club, go to the Events tab, scroll down to Key Leader, and there will be a more detailed version of this and how to register. Go to www.cnhkeyleader.com to know more
